Carl did not seem to mind Lynn's coldness. He looked back toward the plaza with lingering fear, then turned back, his voice still trembling.
"Just now... that was really dangerous! If you hadn't drawn away most of the Living Corpses, my 'Mutual Aid Society' would probably have..."
He shook his head without finishing, but the meaning was obvious.
"Thank you, Lynn."
His gratitude was sincere.

Lynn answered simply, then turned his gaze toward Thomas, clearly unwilling to exchange pleasantries with Carl.
The next round was a one-on-one fight against a Living Corpse. Whether Carl could survive it was uncertain, so there was no point wasting words.
Thomas lightly tapped the spinning bone wheel of his Modified Zombie with the haft of his warhammer, knocking loose strands of tangled flesh.
This flesh needed to be cleared away promptly, or too much buildup would affect the wheel's rotation speed.
Seeing Lynn look over, he hurriedly stopped what he was doing, his eyes lighting up as he said:

"With my Undead Forging, it would be a match made in heaven! How about it? Let me study it for two days after the assessment. I'll give it a free enhancement!"
Lynn shook his head, declining Thomas's offer.
"Forget it. I don't plan to modify it anytime soon. If I need anything later, I'll come find you."
