Skinny Monkey wore a knowing grin that every man understood. "You finally get it, kid! This is a fine place—every man's dream destination."
At that, the curiosity on Lynn's face deepened, and he stared straight inside.
Seeing this, the ladies at the entrance hurried over and warmly greeted them.
"Oh my, Lord Monkey, it's been quite a while since you last came! Our Maggie talks about you every single day~"
Skinny Monkey's throat bobbed. Ever since taking on the task of watching Lynn, he had lost his "private life" and had been bottling up his frustration for ages.
Now, summoned by the coquettish voices of these ladies, he immediately reacted.
One of the ladies looked at the handsome Lynn, and her eyes suddenly lit up.
"This must be the famous 'Abacus Snake,' right? Big sister has heard so much about you. How about letting me take a good look and see whether little brother's big snake lives up to that name?"
As she spoke, her hand was already reaching for Lynn's vital area.
That gave Lynn quite a fright.
They were this fierce? Doing it right out on the street?
Just as the lady's hand was about to make contact with little Lynn, Lynn hurriedly pretended he could not bear the teasing and fled in panic.
Skinny Monkey could only reluctantly bid farewell to the little enchantresses, hunched over as he chased after him.
Who knew when he would be able to visit again?
Lynn looked back at Skinny Monkey's hunched, bent-over figure and felt completely reassured.
This little monkey was in the palm of his hand now.
The next day was the final day of the talent testing. After the bustle of the previous two days, the City Lord's Residence was somewhat deserted today.
Everyone in the city who needed testing had already been tested. Those remaining lived farther away and were still arriving one after another.
Meanwhile, Lynn continued taking Skinny Monkey around the various businesses at an unhurried pace, purchasing the supplies they needed.
It was not until the afternoon that the two arrived, as usual, at the gambling house managed by Vasa to conduct their routine inspection of the accounts.
Vasa's service was impeccable. After leading them to the accounting room, he personally served them tea and poured their water.
By all rights, someone of his status should not have been so attentive to Abacus Snake. But everyone knew perfectly well how Ghost Fox, the gang's vice leader, had met his end.
And this young boy before him was still occupying the vice leader's quarters.
If he had not been so young, the gang leader would likely have promoted this God of Wealth to vice leader long ago.
Looking at it now... it was only a matter of time!
Thus, Vasa did not dare slight Lynn in the slightest. The gambling house's ledgers were also exceptionally rigorous, without a single flaw to be found.
After reviewing the recent accounts, Lynn nodded in satisfaction.
"Brother Vasa truly deserves to be called the gang leader's most capable man. You've made this gambling house flourish, and the accounts are without the slightest issue."
Vasa laughed heartily and rubbed his shiny bald head with a plump hand covered in colorful rings.
"Not at all, not at all. It's all thanks to the esteem of my brothers. Sitting in this position, I can only do my best and dare not slack off in the least."
Lynn could not help sighing.
"If the other brothers in the gang had even half of Brother Vasa's sense of responsibility, I would not have to run about every day."
"I have seen Brother Vasa's contributions during this time and remembered them well. When I return tonight, I will certainly report your recent achievements to the gang leader."
Upon hearing that, Vasa's face immediately bloomed into a chrysanthemum-like smile, and the way he looked at Lynn became even warmer.
"With those words from Brother Lynn, everything I've done has been worth it. If you ever need anything in the future, just say the word. I, Vasa, will not refuse!"
With that, Vasa stepped forward and gave Lynn a huge hug.
By the time they separated, Lynn realized there was an extra money pouch at the small of his back.
Seeing that Lynn had noticed something unusual, Vasa revealed a meaningful smile.
Lynn was slightly taken aback.
Well, damn. That smooth?
The pouch was not heavy, so it did not seem to contain many coins.
But Lynn firmly believed that this clever old baldy would not try to fob him off with copper or silver coins. There had to be gold coins inside!
This old bastard really knew what he was doing!
Skinny Monkey, standing nearby, had not noticed the secret exchange between them.
At the moment, he was sitting cross-legged, noisily slurping hot tea while his beady rat eyes wandered over the maidservants attending them.
After their conversation ended, Lynn took his leave.
"Brother Vasa, we'll be going now. We'll come visit you again in a few days."
Vasa did not try to keep them. As usual, he said, "No problem, no problem. You two brothers have worked hard. Why not go rest at Nightingale Hall? I hear they've recently gotten a new batch..."
Skinny Monkey immediately perked up and shot Lynn a hopeful look.
But he also knew that, barring any surprises, Lynn would refuse again without hesitation.
Yet something happened that nearly made his eyes pop out—Lynn actually looked conflicted and tempted.
What? Has this kid finally figured it out?
Vasa, who had been waiting for Lynn to refuse, noticed it as well, and his heart stirred.
"Brother Lynn has turned me down so many times before. You can't refuse this time, or you'll be disrespecting your big brother here."
Vasa pretended to be angry. Without waiting for Lynn's response, he called over an underling.
"Hyena, take these two brothers to Nightingale Hall to relax. Put every expense on my tab, and make sure the madam serves them properly!"
After giving those instructions, Vasa said apologetically to Lynn.
"I have to watch the place, so I can't accompany you. If you need anything, just tell Hyena."
Lynn still wore a hesitant expression, as though he had not yet made up his mind.
Skinny Monkey was so anxious that he scratched at his ears and cheeks, repeatedly elbowing Lynn in the back to signal him to agree.
This was free stuff!
Only then did Lynn reluctantly reply, "Since Brother Vasa has instructed us to go, then... then I'll go have some tea and get some rest..."
Vasa burst into hearty laughter.
"Now that's a good brother! When I have time another day, I'll definitely take you two brothers to see Black Marsh City's most famous Heaven on Earth!"
At those words, Skinny Monkey's eyes immediately widened, and he could not help swallowing.
What? I, Skinny Monkey, might get a chance to have some fun at Heaven on Earth too?
Who said this job was tough? This job is incredible!
In my next life, I'm still following Abacus Snake!
Seeing Skinny Monkey's pathetic appearance, Lynn finally felt the weight in his heart lift.
He finally took the bait!
The two followed Hyena to Nightingale Hall. It was still daytime, and there were not many "customers."
The ladies they had encountered last night were leaning against the entrance, cracking sunflower seeds and chatting idly.
When they saw Hyena leading the two straight over, they all hurriedly tidied themselves up and came forward.
The old madam in front even threw herself directly onto Hyena.
The remaining ladies pressed themselves right up against Skinny Monkey and Lynn, with such force that they seemed to want to knead their entire bodies into them.
"Oh my~ The sun must be rising in the west today. Lord Lynn, Lord Monkey, and Lord Dog are all such rare guests. Quick, quick, please come inside."
"Girls, come out and greet the guests~"
A wave of cloying voices came from inside the hall.
"Coming~" x10086
Inside Nightingale Hall, colored lights glimmered, and the air was thick with intoxicating fragrance.
