At the center of the grove stood a slightly taller stele. A gray-white soul core was embedded at its top, serving as the hub of the entire grove.

Lynn walked among the steles.

He could not make out the words, but the grove had detected his sins.

The inscriptions began to brighten, rising off the stone surfaces and winding toward his soul.

These were brands of sin. Once they latched on, the grove would pin his soul in place, leaving him unable to move.

Lynn quickly analyzed the grove's structure.

The brands of sin on every stele led to the tall stele at the center.

The soul core atop it was the hub. It collected the sins from all the steles, then redistributed them to each one.

Destroy the hub, and the grove would fall apart.
