[Lesser Frost Ray] and [Scorching Ray] erupted almost simultaneously!
One blue and one white beam shot out in crossing paths, cutting off the lynx's escape routes.
The lynx seemingly had not expected Ian's counterattack to come so swiftly. With a shrill cry, its body twisted strangely, forcibly shifting half a foot sideways in midair to evade the main strike of [Scorching Ray], though its left leg was grazed by the Frost Ray.
Bone-chilling cold spread through it, immediately slowing the lynx's movements.
Ian seized that fleeting opportunity. A second [Scorching Ray] followed close behind, its brilliant white beam aimed at the lynx's exposed chest.
"Pfft!"
This time, it did not miss.
The highly condensed scorching beam easily pierced through the lynx's chest and abdomen, leaving behind a charred hole that passed clean through its body. The flesh around the wound gave off the smell of roasted meat.
The lynx let out a miserable howl, collapsed to the ground, twitched a few times, and fell silent.
Ian nodded to himself. As long as it had failed to break his shield at the start, the initiative would return to him.
After walking over to confirm the lynx was dead, he quickly inspected the top-tier Magic Beast.
Its fur and claws were decent materials, but inconvenient to carry at the moment, so he only dug out a pair of eyeballs and its gallbladder.
Finally, he cast Bloodline Refinement Technique. A net of blood descended, extracting all the Essence Blood from the lynx's body.
A string of crystalline Blood Essence rose into the air, and Ian stored it in his Dimensional Ring.
After entering the mountains, he often refined the blood of slain Magic Beasts into Blood Essence. It was compact and easy to carry, while also serving as practice for Bloodline Refinement Technique.
