It was already past two in the morning. Everyone at home had gone to bed. Huo Jiu tiptoed back to his room without even turning on the light. After washing up, he went to bed in peace.
The night passed without incident. Early the next morning, Huo Jiu looked at the bare carpet and couldn't help whistling.
"What happened to the cash in my room?" Huo Jiu asked Lu Manzhen over breakfast.
Lu Manzhen glanced at Su Shiyuan, then said, "I put it all away for you. With so much money spread across your room, the housekeeper could barely get in to clean. I know counting cash helps calm you down, but you have to consider other people's ability to handle the sight of it."
As she spoke, Lu Manzhen pulled a passbook from who knew where and handed it to Huo Jiu. The black-and-white print showed a balance of ten million.
