Background
Founding and early history
Konoha was founded when the Senju Clan and Uchiha Clan ended their long conflict and united under Hashirama Senju and Uchiha Madara. Hashirama became the First Hokage after the village's formation, while Madara left following a political disagreement. 26 150
Hashirama later defeated Madara when he returned to destroy Konoha, but the battle devastated large areas and exhausted Hashirama's life force. After Hashirama's death, Tobirama Senju succeeded him and instituted policies that separated the Uchiha from the rest of the village, including assigning them to the Konoha Military Police Force. 26 150
During Sarutobi Hiruzen's era, the Uchiha Clan was further marginalized. According to Uchiha Huan, Konoha's ruling factions took over Uchiha businesses, assigned the clan harsh wartime missions, and denied it recognition or advancement, splitting the clan between radical and conservative factions. 150
Uchiha Clan massacre
Before the Uchiha Clan massacre, Konoha ordered its exits sealed and specifically prohibited Uchiha ninja from leaving the village. Uchiha Huan escaped at age six by using genjutsu on gatekeepers Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane. 1
Root operative Tenzo pursued and severely wounded Huan during his escape. The massacre subsequently left Konoha visibly desolate at night. 1 5

Conflict with Uchiha Huan
Huan regards Konoha as the place that forced him to flee and seeks revenge against Sarutobi Hiruzen and the political forces he blames for the Uchiha Clan's destruction. He distinguishes between destroying Konoha outright and taking control of it, stating that Konoha will eventually become his. 21 156 158
Huan established the Anti-Hidden Leaf Village directly across from Konoha and used Wood Release to create a forest before Konoha's gates as its public declaration. 19 20
Konoha initially classified Huan as an A-rank rogue ninja with a ten-million-ryō bounty, plus twenty million ryo for his preserved eyes. By the time of the joint Chunin Exams, Yamato identifies him as the Shinobi World's only S-rank rogue ninja. 52 142
