Hyuga Compound, council hall.
Neji stood in the center of the hall, fists clenched as he stared fixedly at Hyuga Hiashi above him.
Behind him, Hinata Hyuga's face was pale. She tried several times to speak, yet did not know what to say.
Hyuga Clan members stood along both sides of the hall.
Most of them belonged to the main family.
The looks they gave Neji ranged from coldness to displeasure, and some openly rebuked him.
"Neji, you barged into the main family's council hall without permission. You have already violated clan rules."
"Kneel and admit your mistake at once, or do not blame us for dealing with you according to clan rules!"
"A branch family member dares question the clan head? You have become more and more unruly!"
Voices rang out one after another.
Yet Neji seemed not to hear them.
He merely stared at Hyuga Hiashi.
"Give me the letter."
Hyuga Hiashi's expression was complicated.
From the moment Neji had burst in, he had known this day would come sooner or later.
He simply had not expected it to come so soon.
"Neji, you are still young. There are some things..."
"I am not a child anymore!"
Neji abruptly cut him off.
"When my father died, I truly was young. I knew nothing."
"You told me he died to protect the main family, that it was a responsibility the branch family had to bear."
"But Uchiha You told me my father left behind a letter!"
"Give me the letter!"
The last sentence was almost a roar.
The hall instantly fell silent.
The expressions of many main family members shifted slightly.
Of course, they knew that letter existed.
Before Hizashi Hyuga died, he had handed a letter to Hyuga Hiashi.
There was no blame in it, nor any resentment.
