The evening was silent, save for the unending screams.

As far as the eye could see, the entire Uchiha Compound had become a river of blood.

Inside Sasuke's home, one man sat calmly on the floor with his eyes closed, as though he were utterly unaware of the massacre outside.

"Shadian, Itachi has already chosen Konoha. You should leave Konoha quickly! Otherwise, he'll kill you too." Uchiha Mikoto looked at the man with worry in her eyes.

"What about you, Sister-in-law? What is your choice? Will you surrender and let Itachi kill you?" Uchiha Shadian slowly raised his eyes to look at Uchiha Mikoto, his tone calm.

"I choose to stand with your brother, through life and death. Whatever he chooses, I will choose as well." Uchiha Mikoto's tone was calm, but her expression was sorrowful.

She could not understand how things between the Uchiha Clan and Konoha had come to this.

And her beloved son had chosen to betray his clan and side with Konoha, ruthlessly slaughtering his own people. It filled her heart with unbearable pain.

Konoha had used Itachi Uchiha's power to massacre the clan. As his mother, how could she possibly bring herself to strike back against the son she loved most? She did not want to harm him, not even a single hair on his head.

Everything that had happened tonight left her in agony, bitterness written all over her face.

"Uncle, what exactly happened? What are you and Mom talking about? Why can't I understand a single word?" Uchiha Sasuke asked from the side, his voice filled with confusion and unease.

He could smell the thick stench of blood coming from outside the courtyard, and he could hear the endless screams. It all made his young heart tremble with fear.

"Sasuke, don't worry. Everything will get better. Trust Uncle." Uchiha Shadian patted Uchiha Sasuke on the head in comfort.

"No matter what happens later, you must trust Uncle."

"Everything is for the sake of resisting the darkness and making the Uchiha's glory great once more."

Just then, a figure walked in from outside.

"Dad, you're finally back! What happened outside? I think I heard so many clan members screaming." The moment Uchiha Sasuke saw Fugaku Uchiha return, he hurriedly asked.

Fugaku Uchiha gave Uchiha Sasuke a complicated look. Instead of answering, he struck without warning and knocked him unconscious with a punch, then turned his complicated gaze toward Uchiha Shadian.

"Konoha's higher-ups have issued an extermination order against the Uchiha Clan. Itachi is the one carrying it out."

"Before Itachi comes for you, Shadian, leave Konoha quickly! I believe that with your strength, you can break through Konoha's encirclement."

After hearing this, Uchiha Shadian showed no surprise. He merely asked calmly, "And you? Are you choosing to let Itachi kill you?"

Fugaku Uchiha did not answer directly. Instead, he said, "Itachi reached an agreement with Konoha's higher-ups. Sasuke will be allowed to keep living in Konoha."

"For Sasuke, I have no other choice."

"I see." Uchiha Shadian slowly rose to his feet.

It seemed that his arrival had not changed this event very much.

Fortunately, he had already made sufficient preparations.

Uchiha Shadian stood up, tall and straight in white robes. Unlike the Uchiha, he had long silver hair draped over his head, and three unknown swords hung from his waist.

Suddenly, an afterimage flashed past Fugaku Uchiha's eyes.

Fugaku Uchiha's body stiffened. In the next instant, two streams of blood burst from his eye sockets.

Uchiha Mikoto stared at the sudden scene in stunned disbelief.

"Brother, I'll be taking these eyes." Uchiha Shadian's right hand was dripping with blood, and he held two eyeballs tightly in his palm.

Fugaku Uchiha came back to himself. Rather than blaming Uchiha Shadian, he said bitterly, "If you want them, then take them, Shadian. Consider this the final gift from an elder brother to his younger brother."

"Actually, I want more than just these." Uchiha Shadian pressed the two eyes against his own. The instant they made contact, chakra surged forth and directly covered Fugaku Uchiha's eyes.

A stream of ocular power was extracted and continuously absorbed into Uchiha Shadian's eyes.

Very quickly, Fugaku Uchiha's eyes dimmed, his pupils turning gray-white as all the ocular power within them was completely absorbed by Uchiha Shadian's eyes.

The instant the ocular power was fully absorbed, Uchiha Shadian's eyes trembled. The patterns in his pupils shifted continuously before finally settling into an intimidating Mangekyo Sharingan pattern.

A massive chakra aura erupted from Uchiha Shadian's body, then quickly vanished.

"Eternal ocular power... At last, I can use these eyes without restraint." Uchiha Shadian murmured softly.

"Eternal ocular power?" Fugaku Uchiha's body trembled at those words.

The Mangekyo Sharingan would gradually lose its light with use.

To avoid losing that light, one had to evolve it into the legendary Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, an eye even more powerful than the Mangekyo Sharingan. Only then would its light not gradually fade with repeated use.

Ignoring Uchiha Mikoto's astonishment, Uchiha Shadian casually tossed the now-lightless eyes onto the floor and walked toward Uchiha Sasuke.

Uchiha Mikoto watched Uchiha Shadian nervously. "Shadian, what are you going to do to Sasuke?"

Uchiha Shadian had dug out Fugaku Uchiha's eyes without the slightest hesitation, and now that he had suddenly approached Sasuke, Uchiha Mikoto feared he might harm him as well.

Uchiha Shadian said, "Sister-in-law, trust me. Everything will get better."

"I only want Sasuke to wake up and see the truth of tonight."

"No, Sasuke cannot wake up and learn the truth. If he learns it, how can he continue living in Konoha?" Fugaku Uchiha immediately reached out to stop him.

Unfortunately, he was blind now. He could not stop Uchiha Shadian at all.

Uchiha Shadian slapped Uchiha Sasuke across the face.

The pain instantly jolted Uchiha Sasuke awake.

The awakened Uchiha Sasuke looked at Uchiha Shadian with dazed eyes.

"Uncle, did you hit me?"

Uchiha Shadian smiled. "I woke you up so we can see whether my arrival changed the limits of your potential."

Uchiha Sasuke asked in confusion, "The limits of my potential?"

"What is that?"

"And what happened to Dad's eyes?"

Uchiha Shadian replied indifferently, "I dug them out."

Uchiha Sasuke's body trembled. He stared at Uchiha Shadian in utter disbelief.

"Uncle, why did you dig out Dad's eyes?"

Uchiha Shenye did not answer Uchiha Sasuke's question. With a flick of his hand, a residual blade flash swept through the room.

Splat.

Fugaku Uchiha suddenly spat out a huge mouthful of blood.

"Dad!" Uchiha Sasuke's eyes widened, his pupils dilating as he stared in complete disbelief at Fugaku Uchiha's pierced heart.

Bright red blood flowed from Fugaku Uchiha's chest, where a sword had mercilessly pierced straight through him.
