Bang!
The Tailed Beast Bomb was deflected beyond Konoha's borders and crashed into the forest with a thunderous boom. The earth shook and the mountains trembled as it pulverized an entire mountain, raising an enormous mushroom cloud that blotted out the sky. It looked as though the apocalypse had arrived.
Elsewhere, with Gamaken's assistance, Jiraiya barely managed to neutralize the Hell Dragon Break.
"It's Jiraiya. Wonderful." Seeing Gamaken, Hiruzen Sarutobi secretly rejoiced. Aside from Minato Namikaze, who had once been alive, only his teacher Jiraiya could command such a massive toad.
"Thankfully, I called Jiraiya back just in case."
"Otherwise, who knew how many lives it would have taken to suppress this Nine-Tails rampage?"
These were all forces loyal to him!
If too many of them died or were injured, it would become difficult for him to keep the ambitious Danzo in check.
With the help of the enormous armored giant and giant toad, Jiraiya and Itachi Uchiha arrived before Uchiha Shadian one after the other.
"How could it be you, Shadian?" Jiraiya rode Gamaken in a leap toward the Nine-Tails. When he clearly saw the figure standing atop its head, an expression of utter disbelief appeared on his face.
In his previous understanding, Uchiha Shadian was someone without much talent for ninjutsu. What he excelled at was writing books. They were kindred spirits, both fond of seeking writing inspiration in certain mixed-bathing hot springs.
Many of his current writing inspirations had been provided by Uchiha Shadian!
"It's been a long time, Jiraiya." Uchiha Shadian looked at Jiraiya calmly.
"It's been a long time indeed. I never expected we'd meet under these circumstances. Fate truly plays tricks on people!" Jiraiya sighed.
"Yes! This really isn't a suitable occasion for a reunion!" Uchiha Shadian said regretfully.
"Can you stop, Shadian?" Jiraiya asked.
"How am I supposed to stop?" Uchiha Shadian asked in return.
"I'm back. Everything will be resolved." Jiraiya said.
"How will you resolve it? Every member of the Uchiha Clan is dead. Tell me, how will you resolve that?" Uchiha Shadian looked at Jiraiya, his voice cold.
"All dead?" Jiraiya's body shook at those words. Although he had already received rough intelligence from the toads, hearing it directly from Uchiha Shadian still left him stunned.
"How could that be? Did they truly not spare even a single child or elderly person?" Jiraiya was horrified. When he heard that the Uchiha Clan was to be suppressed, he had thought the village would at least spare the innocent children. He never expected they had truly slaughtered every last one of them. How could this have happened? Faced with such a result, Jiraiya felt a crushing weight in his chest and found it difficult to accept.
Why had Konoha, once so peaceful, become like this? Exterminating its own villagers—how could such an absurd thing happen?
Jiraiya could not understand it.
"If I had returned sooner, I would have stopped all this." Jiraiya blamed himself.
"You can still stop all this now." Uchiha Shadian said blandly. "Join forces with me and slaughter this group of people who treat human lives as worthless. Restore a bright and clear Konoha once and for all."
"Shadian, excessive slaughter is not the solu..." Jiraiya wanted to say something, but the words died on his lips.
"It seems you are unwilling, Jiraiya. Then we'll settle this with our hands!"
"Shadian, can you really not stop so we can talk this out?" Jiraiya still tried to persuade Uchiha Shadian to stand down.
"Blood debts must be repaid in blood. Those who stand in my way will die."
Killing intent blazed in Uchiha Shadian's eyes.
"I will stop you." Jiraiya sighed.
"Come at me, then! Since you have chosen to stand with Konoha's darkness, you are my enemy from this day forth, Jiraiya. What a pity!" Uchiha Shadian slowly raised the Cloud-Cluster Fang in his hand and pointed it at the two of them, saying with overwhelming killing intent, "Both of you, come at me together!"
Roar!
Matching Uchiha Shadian's killing intent, the Nine-Tails let out a roar and spat out a fierce gale. Like wind blades, it blew the surrounding trees in every direction.
"Jiraiya, this guy's too vicious. I can't handle him." Gamaken said fearfully.
"This is troublesome indeed. Don't worry, I'll summon Gamabunta and the others to help you." Jiraiya frowned.
"Uncle, leave! Leave Konoha now, and never come back." Itachi Uchiha said.
"Hmph, traitor to the clan. I already said it—today, Konoha will be buried alongside the Uchiha Clan."
Uchiha Shadian's killing intent surged. "Fighting one against two puts me at a slight disadvantage. I need to find some help."
"Summoning Jutsu." Uchiha Shadian formed hand seals and performed the Summoning Jutsu atop the Nine-Tails' head.
As Uchiha Shadian's words fell, two coffins slowly emerged from the void with a bang.
Itachi Uchiha and Jiraiya frowned, but neither tried to interrupt Uchiha Shadian's Summoning Jutsu immediately. Even if they wanted to stop him, there was still some distance between them and Uchiha Shadian. With the Nine-Tails glaring at them covetously, they did not dare make a rash move and expose an opening.
Thus, they could only watch helplessly as Uchiha Shadian summoned the two coffins.
"Are they people?" Jiraiya frowned.
"Who could they be?" Itachi Uchiha furrowed his brow.
Crack!
The two coffins opened.
Two figures emerged from within.
"Rin?" Jiraiya's eyes widened as he stared in disbelief at one of the petite figures.
"Rin Nohara? How is that possible?" Itachi Uchiha's eyes widened as well, staring incredulously at the petite figure.
Rin Nohara was Minato Namikaze's disciple. Naturally, Itachi Uchiha knew her, and there was even less need to mention Jiraiya.
"Brother Shadian, did you wake me up again? Where is this?"
Rin Nohara opened her eyes and looked around suspiciously.
"That's Master Jiraiya, and Itachi."
Looking at the summoned beast beneath Jiraiya's feet and Itachi Uchiha's Susanoo, Rin Nohara asked, "Brother Shadian, are you fighting Master Jiraiya and the others??"
"Yes, we're fighting a battle to the death." Uchiha Shadian swept his gaze across the surrounding woods, the corners of his mouth rising slightly.
In the forest, atop a certain tree, Obito Uchiha's lone eye beneath his mask stared fixedly at the girl. "Impossible, impossible... How could that be Rin? Rin is clearly dead." Obito Uchiha stared at Rin Nohara in disbelief, his entire body trembling.
Rin Nohara was his moonlight, the sacred purity and beauty in his heart that could never be violated.
"Impossible, impossible. She must merely be someone who resembles her. She can't be Rin. Kakashi killed Rin. It definitely isn't her."
Obito Uchiha refused to accept that the girl before him was Rin Nohara. If she was, what meaning would his revenge still have?
Everything he had done was for revenge—for Rin Nohara's death, he had sought revenge against this Shinobi World. If she had come back to life, what meaning would his revenge still have?
Thus, he both wanted Rin to be alive and did not want her to be alive. His heart was filled with contradiction.
