Lin Wan'er was born into the Lin Family, a subordinate family of the Chen Family. In her youth, she possessed the Azure Lotus Sword Physique and ranked among the foremost talents of her era; her combat power exceeded that of many prodigies at the same realm. 20

Despite being able to pursue her own standing within the Lin Family, she voluntarily relinquished its core cultivation and her Sequence ranking to become Chen Changqing’s follower. She believed that the Divine Son’s path was “the most correct path.” 23 She continued following him through secret realms and distant lands until he was sealed within Divine Source. 49

After his sealing, Lin Wan'er cultivated obsessively in pursuit of immortality, hoping to live long enough to see him again. She tempered her body with sword intent, endured the backlash of Sword Qi entering her heart, and ultimately reached the peak of the Quasi-Emperor Realm. 49 50

At some point during that million-year period, the Great River Sword Sect ambushed her to seize her Extreme Sword Intent.
