Entering the cafeteria.
As Chen Xi smelled the rich aroma of food, he rubbed his stomach and looked toward the serving area.
The Training Camp's breakfast was still quite lavish, with two meat dishes, two vegetable dishes, and a bowl of meat soup.
"Let's hurry up and get in line."
"The first scoop is always full when they're serving food."
With that, Xing An eagerly headed forward.
Just as Chen Xi was about to follow, an instructor walked out.
"Maintain order!"
"Line up properly!"
As he spoke, the instructor began organizing the queue.
Under the instructor's arrangements, Chen Xi ended up at the very back of the line.
But Chen Xi did not mind.
It was just a meal. As long as he got to eat, it made no difference whether he ate earlier or later.
After waiting expectantly, it was finally his turn.
But the moment Chen Xi picked up a tray, he discovered that the serving area was completely empty, so clean that not even a drop of vegetable broth remained.
"Instructor, there's nothing left?"
Chen Xi looked toward the instructor beside him, and even his dark violet eyes seemed to dim.
But when he looked at his Storage Bracelet, Chen Xi suddenly felt that Qian Renxue had been remarkably foresighted. She had packed him so many pastries that he would not have to go hungry.
"The instructor is perfectly fine. Nothing happened to him."
"It's the breakfast that's gone."
"But you still have training later. We can't exactly let you go hungry. The instructors happen to have an extra breakfast portion, so you can have it."
The instructor took out a prepared breakfast from beneath the serving counter.
Chen Xi took a closer look, and his eyes instantly lit up.
The instructors' breakfast was far more lavish than the students'. If the students had four dishes and a soup, then the instructors had eight dishes and a soup—not only four meat dishes and four vegetable dishes, but also two chicken legs.
"Thank you, Instructor."
After thanking him, Chen Xi carried his tray back.
"Chen Xi, over here!"
"I saved you a seat."
Xing An waved at Chen Xi.
Chen Xi came over and sat before Xing An, placing his tray on the table.
Xing An glanced at Chen Xi's tray, her eyes widening round.
"Why is yours so lavish?"
Xing An pointed at Chen Xi's tray.
"When it got to me, there was nothing left. Then the instructor gave me the instructors' extra breakfast portion."
Chen Xi answered before lowering his head and starting to eat.
Xing An looked at Chen Xi with envy.
While they ate, Chen Xi asked Xing An more questions about the Training Camp.
And Xing An answered every one of Chen Xi's questions without holding anything back.
As they continued chatting, the two grew increasingly close.
"Xing An, what direction are you mainly developing in?"
"I heard the chief instructor say that this afternoon, instructors would teach us according to our respective development paths."
Chen Xi asked as he ate.
"I'm afraid of getting beaten up, so I'm a pure defense-type Spirit Master."
"There really will be instructors providing specialized guidance this afternoon, and they're all very strong. Most of them are Soul Emperors or Soul Sages."
Xing An answered casually.
Chen Xi silently raised his head and looked at Xing An across from him.
He had basically ignored everything Xing An said afterward and only remembered the first sentence.
She was afraid of getting beaten up, so she was a pure defense-type Spirit Master.
Chen Xi considered it carefully and came to a conclusion. Wasn't that a development path purely for getting beaten up?
Seeing the strange look in Chen Xi's eyes, Xing An raised her head and explained, "My Martial Soul is a shield. A defense-type development path suits me better."
"I see."
Chen Xi nodded slightly and lowered his head to continue eating.
"Chen Xi, what is your development path?"
Xing An asked softly.
"I like writing, so my development direction is purely mental attacks."
Chen Xi thought for a moment before giving a serious answer.
"Writing?"
"Pure mental attacks?"
"What do those two have to do with each other?"
Xing An thought carefully, her eyes full of confusion.
"My Martial Soul is a quill pen."
Chen Xi added.
Xing An nodded, seeming to understand but not quite.
After breakfast.
All the students returned to the training ground and assembled.
Standing on the training ground, Chen Xi noticed that it had been divided into small sections by white lines.
What are those for?
Just then, Chief Instructor Jiekaer stepped before everyone.
"This morning's training will test your basic combat ability."
"Do you see the sections on the ground?"
"In a moment, you will draw lots for basic matches. Whoever knocks down their opponent first may rest first. But remember, you may use Soul Power and Mental Power, but you may not use your Martial Souls."
"Since there are only fifty-three of you, one person will have no opponent. That person will spar with an instructor."
"This is a rare opportunity."
Jiekaer smiled faintly and waved for an instructor to bring over a wooden box.
Jiekaer reached into the box and drew out a small white slip of paper. After reading the names on it, two people stepped out from the group and headed toward the designated number one area.
As slip after slip was drawn, Chen Xi was the only one left in the group.
Chen Xi looked around, then at the box in Jiekaer's hand, and revealed a polite smile.
I hit the jackpot!
Could things really be this coincidental? At mealtime, the food happened to run out just when it was my turn. And now, the spot to fight an instructor has happened to fall on me too.
I wonder whether I'm lucky, or whether the instructors are giving me special treatment.
Chen Xi grumbled inwardly.
Jiekaer's gaze also settled on Chen Xi, his expression turning into a smiling squint.
"Instructor Liu, you go."
"Remember to show some restraint."
When Jiekaer said "restraint," he deliberately emphasized the word.
"Understood."
Instructor Liu answered and headed toward the final designated area, beckoning Chen Xi over.
Chen Xi stepped forward and followed him.
At the final area, Chen Xi and Instructor Liu stood facing each other.
"You make the first move."
"Don't worry. The Healing Spirit Masters are already prepared. Even if you get injured, they'll heal you instantly."
Instructor Liu assumed a starting stance.
Chen Xi quietly released his Mental Power to assist himself in battle. Soul Power glowed in his hand as he charged straight toward Instructor Liu.
He threw a punch, his fist slicing through the air as it shot directly at Instructor Liu before him.
Instructor Liu raised a hand to block Chen Xi's attack. Feeling the power Chen Xi had unleashed, he realized that in terms of strength alone, Chen Xi was already outstanding among Soul Grand Masters.
