Who would've thought this system could be used like this? This kind of farming-based path to wealth was practically a real-life Monopoly. Google Search Reading
Itachi sat on the tatami in the courtyard, deep in thought.
By the distant pond, the shishi-odoshi repeatedly filled with water before suddenly striking the ground with a sharp "clack." This Japanese water-filled bamboo device was also called a "sozu," originally designed to drive sparrows away from farmland.
But during the shogunate era, wealthy families often liked using water and bamboo like this as symbols of spiritual purification.
And the series of events that had erupted over the past two days had also earned him the Mangekyo Sharingan and its corresponding supporters.
"Although I don't know how to actively trigger these rewards, perhaps anything beneficial to the Uchiha Clan will be fine."
As he spoke slowly, Itachi rose slightly and stretched his muscles. Yesterday's fight had looked effortless, but the Sharingan's drain on his body was simply terrifying. Even now, he could still feel that exhaustion, as if he had been completely drained dry.
It was hard to imagine the bone-deep agony and overload his body would endure after activating Susanoo!
"Big brother, don't you have an Anbu mission today?"
A childish voice came from beside him. Amid rapid thudding footsteps, a fair-skinned child ran straight over, his bright eyes filled with admiration and cheerful laughter.
"That's right, little brother!"
Warmth filled Itachi's heart. Seeing young Sasuke Uchiha tilt his head, he narrowed his eyes and smiled.
After all, this was the little brother he deeply wanted to protect.
"Then can you come train with me today? I heard about it, Big Brother. You showed off your power at the Naka River, and you looked super cool throwing kunai."
Sasuke pouted and made several whooshing gestures with his hands, looking as though he had witnessed it himself.
He really was an adorable, amusing little brother.
As the exceptionally outstanding eldest son, Itachi had always been Sasuke's idol. In private, Sasuke would even respectfully call him "Lord Itachi" in front of his little classmates, then enthusiastically spread all the stories about him that he'd heard secondhand.
After class, he even set up a stall specifically to promote his brother's heroic deeds, gathering a group of little fans who surrounded him all day and shouted his praises.
What an interesting little brat.
"So, is this seduction?"
Itachi smiled so hard he could barely close his mouth. This little puppy from the Uchiha family.
Was he studying seduction techniques at school? If so, perhaps he could have Kurenai Yuhi train him properly, but inviting her over—
"Can you? Can you?"
Sasuke pressed his hands together and swayed his soft, rosy little face from side to side, his voice bright and crisp like a silver bell.
"I have something to do today, Sasuke. Forgive me just this once."
Itachi smiled helplessly and flicked Sasuke's forehead with a finger. With a smack, Sasuke cried out in pain and covered his forehead.
Because he had seen the Anbu members in the distance constantly monitoring his every move. At the very least, he couldn't show such obvious affection.
The person he worried about most was this little brother who couldn't even fend off a chicken.
As long as those people weren't eliminated, there would never be peace.
At that thought, his expression immediately darkened. But before that, he had to quickly grow stronger and rapidly acquire more resources and wealth.
"Hey, Itachi, you're too slow. The Anbu needs discipline. You absolutely can't be this lazy and loose."
The moment he stepped outside, a rather cold voice sounded beside his ear.
A silver-haired youth leaned against the wall, waiting in the corner. He wore martial attire, with binding bandages and protective armor plates on his arms. The mask and the short blade forged from repeatedly hammered steel on his back were symbols of the Anbu!!!
Kakashi Hatake.
Several Anbu members suddenly appeared around him, moving as swiftly as rabbits and falcons. Some crouched, some stood, their masks carrying the chilling menace of grim reapers.
The Assassination Tactics Special Force, established by the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, was known simply as the Anbu and was directly commanded by the Hokage. It was the first intelligence organization among the Five Great Nations, later imitated by ninja villages throughout the other countries.
Anbu members were elite ninja selected from the village. Their primary duties were protecting the Hokage and preventing enemies from infiltrating the Hidden Leaf Village. At times, they were also responsible for gathering intelligence and carrying out assassinations. Members wore white animal-inspired masks during operations, while the nature of their missions and all other information remained classified. The Anbu answered directly to the Hokage and consisted of several squads, with squad captains relaying orders and leading missions.
"Senior, do we have a mission today?"
Itachi's face quickly returned to its harmless appearance. His childish voice was practically a mature-woman magnet!
The Anbu senior beside him had just been about to grumble a few words, but upon seeing that tender, round little face, the words at his throat were immediately swallowed back down.
"What an adorable child. I never expected a little brat like you to become my teammate."
A figure arrived with the voice.
Her tight outfit outlined an exceptionally well-proportioned figure, curving in all the right places. Her lush, fruitful figure swayed everywhere with the slightest movement; being a ninja must have been quite troublesome for her.
Even without seeing her face, she was undoubtedly a stunning beauty among women.
The woman wearing a tabby cat mask crouched down and pinched Itachi's cheek.
His skin was so soft it seemed ready to burst at a touch, and it felt even better than her own. Oda Misuzu couldn't put him down and pulled him into her embrace.
This sudden benefit left the several men beside them staring wide-eyed. Watching Itachi nearly get buried and suffocated in there, they could only think: round where it should be round, flat where it should be flat.
Every one of them secretly gritted their teeth, wondering why the person in his place wasn't them!
"Ta, don't let personal feelings get involved. I'm still watching!"
Kakashi spoke up to stop her, though his voice trembled slightly as well. As a hot-blooded young man, how could he possibly not get worked up seeing this scene?
Damn it!
"Oh, nothing's going to happen. He's only a child. He's just too cute—I like him so much, sob sob."
Oda Misuzu complained as she spoke. Itachi let her handle him like a little puppy, his endless cuteness awakening her maternal instincts even further.
He was practically a life-sized doll.
If she could hold him while sleeping at night, that would be absolutely perfect.
"Big sister, when I grow up, can I marry you?"
Itachi narrowed his eyes and whispered beside the woman's ear. At the same time, he gently nibbled her earlobe, treating it as interest on the advantage she had taken of him.
PS: The information currently available is as follows:
Ninja needed to eat, and the rank of the mission scrolls they accepted roughly reflected the rewards they could obtain and the danger they would face.
D-Rank Missions (definition: small missions that did not require direct combat or pose a threat to life), such as catching escaped pets, cleaning a client's farm or fields, babysitting for important people, and so on, were Genin missions. When manpower was insufficient, such missions would be abandoned. For example, Team 7 once caught an escaped cat for a fat middle-aged woman; Naruto played with a "Gold Release ninja" named Bankyu; Sasuke accompanied a daimyo's daughter while she played. These were all D-Rank Missions. Genin could save money fairly quickly by doing such missions.
Reward: 5,000 to 50,000 ryo.
C-Rank Missions (definition: missions that might result in injury but would not threaten one's life), such as taming or hunting wild beasts, serving as a bodyguard for a client without fighting ninja, investigating and tracking people or events, and delivering secret intelligence. Genin were enough to complete them, though Chunin were occasionally assigned when manpower was short and whoever was free got sent. Team 7's first major mission, for example, was a C-Rank Mission to protect the famous bridge builder Tazuna. However, Tazuna hid the fact that ninja had targeted him, so the mission's rank rose to at least B-Rank.
Reward: 30,000 to 100,000 ryo.
B-Rank Missions (definition: missions involving assassinating a ninja, infiltrating as an undercover agent, or protecting clients targeted by ninja). Any mission connected to ninja from other countries or rogue ninja was handled as B-Rank or above. These missions were generally quite difficult, and a squad usually needed at least one Chunin or stronger ninja. Most missions of this type later requested reinforcements, and it was common for them to rise to A-Rank.
Reward: 80,000 to 200,000 ryo, divided among the squad.
A-Rank Missions (definition: missions related to the safety of a village or nation). These missions were battles between ninja forces, with several Jonin leading units into combat. However, the mortality rate for Chunin and Genin was extremely high, especially Chunin. Taking Konoha as an example, there were many Chunin, and their abilities were relatively strong, so their survival rate was slightly higher when sent to the front lines. Genin were too weak and would only be sent to die, so under such circumstances, Genin usually handled evacuation missions while Chunin directly participated in battle!
Reward: 1,000,000 ryo, or special favors and item exchanges.
S-Rank Missions (definition: missions that directly determined the safety of a village or nation). These were upgraded versions of A-Rank Missions, usually carried out by an individual or a squad. For example, when a war entered a stalemate, a ninja village might send ninja to assassinate the opposing commander, or the weaker side might deliver intelligence that concerned its fate.
