In the gloomy cave, Otsutsuki Toneri's eyes snapped open. A trace of terror flashed through them before giving way to blank confusion.
By now, he no longer quite knew where he was. He had barely found his footing in this world when, before he could make any further progress, someone had captured him and brought him back as a test subject.
This cruel experience was torture for Otsutsuki Toneri. But he had not given up and was still searching for an opportunity at every moment.
Orochimaru had neither restricted his ability to move freely nor sealed his chakra.
He merely came by every day to examine him, draw some blood, and then leave looking thoroughly satisfied.

And that was Otsutsuki Toneri's last hope of escaping this place.
"Toneri, have you been resting well lately?" Wearing an exceedingly strange smile, Orochimaru visited the cell once again.
Expressionless, Otsutsuki Toneri held out his arm with practiced familiarity. He let Orochimaru draw his blood while asking:
"How long do you intend to keep me here? What are you after?"
On the first day of his captivity, Otsutsuki Toneri had attempted suicide.
But he had failed, because this place was not merely a prison. It was also a vault where Orochimaru protected his precious test subjects.
Orochimaru readily answered Otsutsuki Toneri's questions. "My goal is simple: to create a perfect body. Your body seems to be one piece of the puzzle, and I've found some very strange powers inside it."
As Otsutsuki Toneri watched the blood gradually being drawn from his body, his face grew somewhat pale.
Even a ninja could not withstand having so much blood drawn every day.
