Ark Simulator, Don't I Have No Physical Form?
"Alright, we'll be arriving in Miliarium soon. Would you like to communicate with Miliarium now? I can connect directly to Miliarium's governor Clemence."
Gladiia hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Please."
Next, Gladiia saw a communication interface appear on the tablet, and the call was directly connected.
No, it was more of a one-way communication than a direct connection. Gladiia could already see Clemence's surprised expression on the other end of the communication, but Clemence could only see Gladiia's situation after the communication was established.
However, although Clemence was somewhat surprised, she still answered the "unknown" communication. Skadi, on the other hand, was not nervous. She still had her arm around Su Rui's waist and rubbed her cheek against Su Rui's cheek, as if the governor was not important.
Laurentina did the same. She quietly moved away from the communication screen, sat down next to Skadi, moved closer to Su Rui, and smiled at Su Rui.
Skadi instinctively tightened her arms around Su Rui's waist, but Su Rui mentally reminded her, "Relax a little, you're squeezing me." So she relaxed a little.
Laurentina wasn't in the mood to make a scene at this moment. She simply sat down next to Su Rui and winked at him, as if they were just going on a trip instead of returning to their long-lost hometown.
"... Would you like some dried cactus?" Su Rui took out some snacks from her System Space and quietly invited Skadi and Laurentina.
"I want some." Laurentina reached out and took a portion from Su Rui's hand.
Volume 6, Chapter 379: Skadi: Feed me!
Skadi, being a bit more cunning, took advantage of her current embrace with Su Rui and nuzzled Su Rui's cheek, whispering a plea:
My hands are busy.
"You could have let me go first." And you could have said that telepathically, so why say it on purpose to show off?
Su Rui gave Skadi a light elbow nudge with her elbow, then picked up a piece of dried cactus with her fingers and held it to Skadi's mouth.
Skadi opened her moist lips with satisfaction and took Su Rui's finger into her mouth as well, before slowly releasing Su Rui and leaving some traces of saliva.
Laurentina, somewhat displeased, gently stood up and, just as Su Rui picked up the dried cactus again, suddenly leaned in and, mimicking Skadi's action, snatched the dried cactus from Su Rui's mouth before Su Rui could even bite into it.
Skadi's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Laurentina beside her, as if she had suffered a great injustice. She turned to look at Su Rui pitifully.
"..." Su Rui glanced at Laurentina beside her; she simply smiled at him without saying anything.
Helpless, Su Rui could only take another piece of dried cactus from the bag, hold it between her lips but didn't bite into it, and look at Skadi.
This competitive way of doing things is just like children. Skadi is even looking at him with a tearful expression. Su Rui is feeling a little tired. He hasn't even taken a single bite yet.
Fortunately, Skadi's eyes lit up when she saw Su Rui's reaction. She quickly looked up, leaned closer to Su Rui, pressed her lips to Su Rui's lips, and then snatched the cactus stem away.
At this moment, Irene, standing beside her, didn't know where to look. Although she felt that the conversation between Gladiia and Governor Clemence was important, Irene's gaze involuntarily moved towards Su Rui and Laurentina.
Meanwhile, Gladiia, who wasn't far from Skadi and Laurentina, listened helplessly to the commotion behind her and looked at Clemence, who had also heard some of the music, saying:
"I have received aid from a civilization on land, and they are approaching Miliarium. I need you to open a passage through them. I am currently with three squads of Skadi, Laurentina from my squad, and three envoys from land."
"Gladiia?!... I understand, I'll arrange it. However, the sea near Miliarium is heavily blockaded by the Seaborn. How will you get close to the city?"
"We have our own methods; you just need to open the city's entrance when the time comes."
Gladiia said, nodding to Clemence, "But it seems that seeing me has caused you more trouble than anything else?"
Clemence paused for a moment:
"After you completed your mission to assassinate the Firstborn, the mad Seaborn sealed off all the seas. Xikunda (Deep Cruiser Operator) tried to search several times, but the Seaborn's blockade was too tight, and all her attempts ended in failure. Hyratia (Gladiia's mother) had no choice but to declare you dead."
"Okay, I understand. It will probably take us a while to arrive. We'll let you know when we need to open the door." Gladiia nodded.
Clemence wanted to say something more, "About Hyratia..."
"No need to worry, Consul Clemence, my meeting with Hyratia is not necessary."
Gladiia clearly didn't want to bring up these topics at this time, but Clemence was still somewhat worried:
"I can inform Hyratia to contact you now."
"No need. We'll have plenty of time to talk once I return to Miliarium. Besides, the world on land has helped us find some of Aegir's lost but still functioning city blocks. I need you to be prepared, and it would be best if you could follow me when we return."
Clemence was taken aback by Gladiia's words, but Su Rui's timely transmission of information surprised her, causing her to look at Gladiia with a complex expression.
"It seems that civilizations on land aren't as backward as we imagined. I'll make the arrangements."
Subsequently, the communication connection on Su Rui's side was also terminated via the communication terminal.
Gladiia took a deep breath and turned to look at Su Rui. Su Rui was still sitting in Skadi's lap, making a silent ruckus with Laurentina and Skadi... trying to be as silent as possible, but for Abyssal Hunters's hearing, it was still quite noticeable.
Su Rui noticed Gladiia's gaze and waved the bag of snacks in her hand at her. "Want to try some?"
"..." Whether it was for some reason, to relax or something else, Gladiia reached out and took the piece of dried cactus that Su Rui Su Rui holding in her hand, and then took a bite.
Having just witnessed Skadi and Laurentina's antics, Su Rui had developed some resistance to the behavior of these three Abyssal Hunters, so she wasn't surprised. She simply took out some dried cactus from her pocket and slowly savored it.
Of course, Su Rui was also paying attention to the interaction between Gladiia and Clemence, and after thinking for a moment, she looked at Gladiia:
"Would you like me to connect you with Hyratia? You can use your tablet to communicate with her directly; I won't peek."
"No need." Gladiia shook her head. "My contact with her isn't urgent. The most important thing now is to return to Miliarium to aid the cities that have lost contact."
Su Rui nodded, not insisting. "Anyway, we'll be there soon, it won't take long."
However, although she said she didn't care, Gladiia leaned against the cockpit of the aircraft, watching Su Rui, Laurentina, and Skadi interact. After hesitating for a moment, she nodded to the Doctor, took the tablet from her hand, and typed a few words on it:
"Can you see what I'm typing?" Actually Gladiia wasn't sure either, but since Su Rui had demonstrated the ability to scan almost the entire ocean for information, Su Rui should also be able to see the contents of the tablet in her hand.
After all, the locations of the missing city blocks provided by Su Rui were scattered throughout the ocean, and there was no reason why Su Rui would have been able to find them if he didn't have extremely strong intelligence gathering capabilities.
And Gladiia's guess was correct; after she typed those words, she indeed received a reply from Su Rui.
Gladiia leaned against the corner of the cabin, holding a tablet in her hands. She saw Su Rui's image and captions on the screen:
"What's wrong?"
Volume 6, Chapter 380: They won't notice!
After a moment's hesitation, Gladiia typed out her thoughts. "I want to check on Hyratia, but don't contact her."
"Understood." Although Gladiia noticed that Su Rui didn't actually show that expression while surrounded by Skadi and Laurentina, Su Rui was giving her a teasing smile on the tablet in her hand:
"Skadi and Laurentina won't notice, multitasking is a piece of cake for me, so you want to see what Hyratia is doing, right? It'll be ready soon."
Then, Su Rui's image disappeared from the tablet screen, and what appeared in front of Gladiia was Hyratia's meditation room, where the blond Aegir Clemence was communicating with Gladiia.
Hyratia's eyes widened in surprise, but her beautiful face showed no excitement or other emotion. "Gladiia is still alive? That's good."
Clemence nodded and added:
"Gladiia received aid from a terrestrial civilization, finding some lost but still surviving Aegir city blocks in the ocean. She requested that we prepare our troops to lead a rescue operation upon her arrival."
Hyratia nodded. "Just do as she says. Gladiia wouldn't lie about this... However, the one providing her aid shouldn't be a civilization on land, but rather from that... great civilization. We can only glimpse its secrets, but you and I both know that civilization truly existed."
Clemence nodded. "In that case, I'll go make preparations... Oh, by the way, Gladiia said she'll come to see you later."
"She's probably just being polite with you." Hyratia nodded, hung up the call with Clemence, and didn't say anything more.
The communication was disconnected, but Gladiia could still see what was happening on Hyratia's end.
After hanging up the phone, Hyratia seemed to breathe a slight sigh of relief, but her habitual behavior prevented her from showing any emotional fluctuation. She simply put away her communication panel and went back to what she was doing.
After watching for a while, Gladiia turned off the screen and continued typing on the tablet:
"Su Rui, can you see me?"
"Okay, but I didn't peek."
"I don't mind."
"But I really didn't peek."
"Yes, I just wanted to talk to you."
While typing, Gladiia glanced discreetly in Skadi's direction. Su Rui was playfully wrestling with two Abyssal Hunters while holding a newly opened bag of snacks.
Even so, it didn't stop Su Rui from multitasking, displaying her image on the tablet, greeting Gladiia, and typing to attract her attention:
"You'll be noticed if you stare like that. Just tell me what you want to talk about."
"..." Su Rui was playing around over there, but this person was communicating with her with a completely different expression. There was a sense of dissonance that made Gladiia feel a little excited, and also a kind of inappropriate happiness that she couldn't quite detect?
Taking a few deep breaths to control her thoughts, Gladiia stopped dwelling on the topic and focused her attention on the tablet in front of her.
What are your thoughts on the city of Aegir?
"It's quite creative, but at least I wouldn't directly display any dangerous projects in the city. You guys are a bit too confident in your reports, but your social education methods can somewhat prevent this from happening."
Su Rui paused for a moment, then continued typing, "This kind of parenting has its pros and cons. I can only say that I can't quite accept it; it feels a bit too cruel."
Gladiia didn't refute Su Rui's words; she simply tapped the tablet in her hand with her slender fingers and continued typing:
"It's okay, I'm not so unreasonable as to force everyone to agree with something that's already somewhat controversial."
Su Rui nodded, then showed the distribution of Aegir's city blocks to Gladiia: "Perhaps there's more you'd like to know? This wasn't shown in such detail before. Also, the troops that Miliarium is currently assembling according to your request are all here."
Gladiia glanced at the intelligence information displayed by Su Rui, then noticed a piece of information in the corner that didn't belong to either of those categories. She tapped it with her finger, and the entry for that intelligence item enlarged, with Su Rui's subtitles reappearing:
"This is a situation that Xikunda just discovered. One of Aegir's data analysts has gone missing, but it's a minor issue compared to the city block. I've already compiled the intelligence. Do you plan to deal with it while you're supporting the city block, or will you let Xikunda handle it themselves?"
After thinking for a moment, Gladiia slowly typed out her plan:
"First of all, you, Skadi, and Laurentina don't need to participate in the battle. I will arrange for Skadi and the others to take you on a tour of Aegir's city of Miliarium. The battle can be left to the locals of Aegir."
Su Rui had no objection to this, but Gladiia a somewhat subtle smile on the screen:
"But actually, you still need my help, right?"
"... Yes, I need information about these city blocks. If possible, when I lead my team on an aid mission, I hope you can keep in touch with me at any time."
Since Su Rui could still manage to communicate with Skadi and Laurentina even while causing a ruckus around them, and even organize intelligence, these things shouldn't be a problem for Su Rui, right?
Gladiia hesitated for a moment, then continued typing, "I really need your help. I'll thank you properly later, okay?"
"Hmm, as Aegir's technical governor, you rarely use such a pleading tone, do you? I'll help; it's not a big deal for me. So, you're planning to take Xikunda with you and solve this problem along the way?"
Gladiia glanced at the information Su Rui had presented and typed, "That's right."
"That's good. But it will still take some time before we reach Miliarium. Would you like to sit down and rest for a bit?"
Although the aircraft had been modified, it still needed to avoid the main force of the Seaborn, and its destination was still Miliarium in the ocean. Su Rui revealed the route:
"We'll need some more time to arrive, probably a few hours. What are the arrangements?"
Volume 6, Chapter 381 is for cleaning you up, you know.
Gladiia didn't sit down, but simply typed a few more words on the tablet:
"It's nothing. Let's talk some more in the meantime."
"Of course, no problem. You can contact me anytime you want to chat."
A slight smile played on Gladiia's lips, but her personality prevented her from showing it openly. She simply typed a reply, "Thank you."
Su Rui and Gladiia's conversation didn't actually involve much dialogue, because Gladiia wasn't particularly talkative. After discussing Aegir's affairs and the arrangements for those plots of land, she seemed to run out of things to say and didn't know where to start. Most of the time, she just stared blankly at the screen on the tablet.
Su Rui didn't force a topic of conversation; she simply showed her a slightly fluctuating voiceprint to indicate that she had been listening the whole time.
As time passed, the submarine, after being modified from its aircraft, finally arrived outside the city of Miliarium Aegir.
Su Rui connected the communication between the two parties. Looking at the port staff on the other end of the tablet, Aegir were surprised and somewhat delighted, Gladiia nodded to them. "This is Gladiia. You should have already been informed about the return. Open the port and let us in."
"Understood, Ms. Gladiia. We'll take care of it right away."
The communication ended, and the port gates were already open. The process of entering Miliarium was not particularly interesting, except that Irene was somewhat surprised by the sights of the city.
Gladiia glanced at Skadi and Laurentina, who were still cuddling with Su Rui, and nodded to them. "You two will be responsible for showing Su Rui and the others around the city. I'll handle the negotiations with those people."
"Of course, we will do our job well."
Laurentina smiled at Gladiia, while Skadi clung tightly to Su Rui's arm, saying, "Goodbye, Second Captain."
Gladiia nodded to them, then turned and walked toward the inner part of Miliarium; she still had work to do.
Skadi and Laurentina exchanged a glance, then pulled Su Rui aside to greet Kal'tsit and Irene beside them:
"Let's take a look around the city now. To be honest, after being away for a while, I'm not quite familiar with this city anymore."
While Su Rui and Skadi toured the city together, Gladiia went alone to the area where the troops were stationed. There was no need for further communication; she was already prepared to lead these troops to support the lost city blocks.
As she walked briskly forward, Gladiia took out the headphones and goggles she had taken from Su Rui and put them on.
Su Rui's voice then rang in Gladiia's ears. "Are you really not giving yourself any rest time at all? You're starting work right after you get back?"
