Background / History

Talulah was raised in an Ursus duke’s territory under the instruction of her adoptive father, Koschei. A young Drak with gray hair, horns, and a scaled tail, she already despised Koschei’s teachings before Su Rui appeared as a data entity in her mind. Su Rui aided her first attempt to fight Koschei through combat prompts, but Talulah’s hesitation, independent decisions, and lack of stamina led to her defeat. 34

After apologizing for doubting Su Rui, Talulah began relying on his advice more openly. He revealed Koschei’s nature as the Undying Black Snake and helped her reconnect with her mother after years of separation. Talulah initially focused solely on killing Koschei, but Su Rui encouraged her to consider what she would do afterward: inherit his title, conceal her intentions behind the Black Snake’s identity, and improve conditions for Ursus’s Infected population. 35 36

With full cooperation during a later sparring session, Talulah defeated Koschei and accepted the chance to kill him. She took control of his ducal estate, responsibilities, and Snake Scales, while Su Rui began teaching her to govern rather than handling every matter in her place. 37

Talulah reviewed Black Snake’s memories, learned of its spare body, and was formally invested as Duchess Talulah. She deliberately hinted to Ursus nobles that she was the Immortal Black Snake, then approached the Emperor’s envoy Witte with proposed laws favorable to the Infected. 38 39

Appearance

Talulah is a Drak woman whose appearance is marked by draconic traits and an increasingly formal imperial bearing. Early descriptions identify gray hair, gray-gold eyes, two horns, and a long scaled tail; later, as Empress, she is described with long silver-gray hair, crimson eyes, and black-and-red robes embroidered with golden double-headed eagles. 34 38 411

  • Two horns and a long scaled tail. 34
  • Gray-gold eyes during her investiture as Duchess. 38
  • Frequently wears a military uniform during her rise to power. 38 56
  • Later appears in the formal black-and-red regalia of the Ursus Empress. 411

Personality

Talulah begins as proud, impulsive, and resistant to being directed, particularly when fighting Koschei. Her first defeat under Su Rui’s guidance stems not from a lack of potential, but from second-guessing his instructions and acting on her own. She recognizes this failure, apologizes, and gradually becomes more willing to trust him. 34 35

She is compassionate toward the Infected and increasingly concerned with the conditions endured by ordinary Ursus citizens and soldiers. Rather than pursuing revenge alone, she embraces a long-term political strategy: use power, laws, and control of the state to change Ursus from within. 36 39 59

Talulah is highly possessive of Su Rui. She becomes jealous when other people know him, take his attention, or appear close to him, and later admits him publicly as her future husband and “queen.” Her later conduct as Empress remains forceful and direct; she prefers confronting Su Rui in person rather than accepting distant communication. 43 49 57 72 342
