Standing at the edge of the field, Suika curiously examined the wheatfield before her.

Calling it a wheatfield was not entirely accurate. It was not planted solely with wheat; Suika spotted quite a few grown bean pods among it. Clearly, this was a standard mixed-crop field.

"That's right, miss. You know about this stuff? Yep, it's wheat and soybeans. I don't know the science behind it, but when they're planted together, neither crop's yield drops, and the soil loses less fertility too..."

The farmer gave Suika a surprised once-over. From the girl's appearance and skin, she looked like the sort whose hands had never touched household chores, yet she could name the crops in the field at a glance.

Most city folk only knew that things grown in the ground could be eaten. Ask them which part of a plant they ate, or what it looked like before it was picked, and they would know nothing.

"I used to work in the fields with my grandfather when I was little.

I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I know a little."

Suika nodded as she answered.

Then the two stood by the field and chatted about crops. Suika took out a notebook and recorded the farmer's experiences as he spoke.

"Miss, what are you writing all that down for?" The farmer asked curiously as he watched her keep scribbling. Suika told him that she was recording the details of their conversation.

"To be honest, I'm a Catastrophe Messenger. This is my first time traveling alone, and so much of what I've encountered is new to me. I wanted to write down what I learned along the way and summarize it when I get back..."

Suika answered with a cheerful smile.

"Ha, you're a Catastrophe Messenger?
