Cursed Technique: Two-Stage Reversal

The world of Jujutsu Kaisen was one where everyone possessed cursed energy. Put simply, cursed energy was the negative emotion inherent in all humans.

As the negative emotions humans radiated toward one another and all things in the world accumulated and gathered over time, curses were born—beings known as Cursed Spirits. Cursed Spirits were naturally opposed to humans. Most acted on instinct, while a small number were born intelligent and capable of human speech.

Ordinary people possessed cursed energy, but they could not make use of the tiny amount within them. Under normal circumstances, they also could not see the Cursed Spirits born from negative emotions.

Only when they were close to death or under attack by a Cursed Spirit did they have a chance of awakening Spirit Vision and seeing those things.

Sorcerers were the exception. From the moment they were born, their brain structures differed from those of ordinary people, and they possessed innate techniques. This inborn talent was also known as an Innate Cursed Technique.

The first active effect of Cursed Technique: Two-Stage Reversal allowed Lin Yi to sacrifice his formidable physical abilities and completely convert them into an enormous amount of cursed energy. In this state, Lin Yi was a genuine sorcerer. He could attack opponents with vast amounts of cursed energy, construct any tool he was familiar with using cursed energy, or reinforce his body to achieve superhuman physical abilities. The tools were single-use consumables and could not be kept.

The second active effect allowed Lin Yi to completely fuse the vast amount of cursed energy in his body and create something from nothing: a permanent tool bound to his soul, with one effect added according to his own wishes. At the same time, because his body was severed from cursed energy, he gained an overwhelmingly powerful tyrant-like physique far beyond his baseline physical condition, along with extremely high resistance and immunity to attacks formed from cursed energy.

Under the passive effect of Two-Stage Reversal, Lin Yi had always operated around Kabukicho in Shinjuku Ward in this disguised state.

As for Lin Yi's current strength, according to the official Jujutsu Society's classification of sorcerer ranks, he should have been somewhere between a Grade 1 Sorcerer and a Special-Grade Sorcerer.

The two abilities he had yet to master were the Reversed Cursed Technique and Domain Expansion. The Reversed Cursed Technique converted the negative energy that formed cursed energy into positive energy to heal oneself. Reattaching severed limbs and regenerating organs were easy enough, while masters could even use it to heal others. This skill was the ticket into high-level battles. Without it, there was no fighting in the big leagues.

Domain Expansion was a technique that materialized the user's inner landscape. It was an incredibly powerful field buff that granted the user a passive guaranteed-hit effect.

Lin Yi had only two goals.

First, make money—make lots and lots of money—then run off with it before the major event on October 31, the Shibuya Incident.

Second, before running away with the money, preferably master the Reversed Cursed Technique and Domain Expansion. If he could not, then forget it and run off with the money anyway.

Other than that, he would avoid anything related to the main plot of Jujutsu Kaisen whenever possible. If he ran into it, he would adjust his plans according to the situation. So far, his plan did not seem to have been affected.

"Looks like I still need to find a stockbroker at the exchange to invest for me. Since things have come to this, I should make money first."

After recalling his conversation with Kento Nanami and the others and confirming that he had not exposed any flaws, Lin Yi went to his desk and entered into his computer the message he had left on the notice board at the East Exit of Shinjuku Station. This was his source of income.

Thanks to Japan's unique status as the main stage of Jujutsu Kaisen, people here were attacked and harassed by Cursed Spirits every day.

But there were only so many sorcerers in the Japanese Official Jujutsu Society. Many of them spent practically the entire year exterminating Cursed Spirits without a day off.

All Lin Yi had to do was sift through the countless messages for reports of possible Cursed Spirit attacks, accept the jobs, exorcise the Cursed Spirits, and get paid.

Every now and then, he also took private work as a bodyguard or helped married women follow their husbands to see whether they were cheating.

Before long, Lin Yi found a plea for help among that day's messages that seemed to involve Cursed Spirit harassment.

"My daughter may be possessed by an evil spirit? This one looks promising. I'll take it."

That afternoon, in Shinjuku Ward, inside a café.

A mother and daughter with striking looks and refined temperaments sat by the window, repeatedly watching the pedestrians outside.

Seeing that their scheduled meeting time was almost past and the person they were waiting for had yet to arrive, the uneasy daughter began to have second thoughts.
