"Brother, stay away from your right hand." Todo's voice was so low it sounded like he was sharpening a blade in his throat.
What kind of joke was that...? How was I supposed to stay away from my own hand? Cut it off with a knife?
Mizuki Makoto tried to regain control of his arm, only to discover in horror that his entire right arm had long since gone numb—
It was mutating at a visible rate. Like the cold stone walls of the Wild Buddha, mottled blue-gray corpse markings slowly but resolutely emerged across it.
"Oh my? It seems the 'after-sales risk' of this transaction is much greater than I imagined."
Mei Mei's voice abruptly turned cold. At some point, the folding fan in her hand had become a heavy, long-handled battle axe. Her profit-driven eyes now gleamed with a chilling professional killing intent. "Mizuki-kun, while I don't dislike young men like you, this sort of 'courtship' is a little too intense. Rejecting it through [exorcism] is the most cost-effective approach, you know."
"Miss Mei, please wait! It's a misunderstanding!" Todo stepped forward sharply, his burly body firmly blocking Mizuki Makoto.
Clap!!
Mei Mei's battle axe carved a terrifying afterimage through the air, but just before its blade cut into Mizuki's shoulder, Todo had swapped him with a crow dozens of meters away.
"This feeling... forced incarnation?" Todo kept his eyes fixed on the flow of cursed energy as he explained rapidly. "Teacher Tsukumo once conducted extensive research into the structure of the soul. Brother, what splashed on you earlier probably wasn't blood. It was 'cursed-object blood' left behind by an ancient sorcerer! That Special Grade cursed spirit wasn't naturally born at all—it was an artificially made 'refrigerated container'!"
"So you're saying... some old bastard who's been dead for centuries has 'illegally occupied' me?"
Mizuki gritted his teeth and desperately used his left hand to hold down his trembling right hand, which was trying to attack again.
"Not just occupied. That sandalwood scent... it's some method that transcends eras. Someone used the battle just now to forcibly activate it!"
Clap!! Clap!!
Applause rang out madly through the station. Like a master of high-level checkers, Todo constantly performed precise three-way swaps between Mei Mei's axe, Mizuki Makoto's rabid-dog-like right hand, and the crows flying everywhere.
"Todo! Move! Set up a Curtain to seal this place... Go find that white-haired guy!" The increasingly irregular corpse markings on Mizuki's face crept upward bit by bit, and the right half of his body gradually petrified.
Foreign, violent cursed energy surged backward through his veins.
"What a regrettable settlement." Mei Mei bent her knees and leaped, her battle axe cleaving down with a shriek that tore through the air. "Since you can't hold on, then I'll gladly accept your inheritance, Mizuki-kun."
At that moment, Mizuki's right hand suddenly stopped struggling.
It slowly, mechanically, yet irresistibly rose. Its five fingers curled loosely, and an immensely warped, obscure mark like a collapsing star faintly appeared in its palm.
In that instant, the air seemed to have been vacuumed away. An ancient, profound technique fluctuation brimming with destruction violently spilled from his fingertips.
"[—Om Rahu Lo Binding!]"
A piercing Sanskrit chant burst from a blood-red crack that split open in his palm. His once-familiar right arm completely mutated. A sticky, ancient mouth full of sharp teeth tore through the skin, opening and closing arrogantly at the center of the ash-gray corpse markings.
It was a destructive sound wave that had crossed hundreds of years.
Boom—!!!
A fan-shaped shockwave of visible cursed energy spread out, instantly shattering the station's reinforced steel pillars. Mei Mei's elegant pale-blue hair was flung backward by the pressure, and her battle axe let out a strained wail the instant it struck the sound wave.
"Clap!" At the critical moment, Todo Aoi left an afterimage as he forcibly swapped himself and Mei Mei into the shadows of the tunnel.
"Brother! Wake up! That rotten old thing can't defeat your blazing soul!" Todo landed on the tracks, every muscle in his body stretched to its limit. He suddenly teleported to Mizuki's side. Rather than immediately activating a swap, he rapidly used blood to draw out a barrier on the ground, then pressed heavily on Mizuki's crown and mutated right hand.
Meanwhile, in a hidden tea room somewhere in Tokyo.
Tea smoke curled through the air. A woman with a conspicuous horizontal stitch across her forehead knelt gracefully at her seat with a smile. Before her, a Jujutsu Headquarters executive lay prostrate on the floor, drenched in cold sweat and shaking like a broken alarm clock.
"Are you certain Gojo Satoru has entered the Curtain?" the woman asked softly, her voice warm as jade.
"Y-Yes. The specially arranged Curtain has cut off all electrical signals. Gojo Satoru absolutely won't receive any calls for help."
"Very good." She took an aged, yellowed contract from her robes and poured cursed energy as thick as ink into it through her fingertips.
On the paper, the name "Mizuki" was slowly covered by scarlet cursed markings.
"It has finally activated. This is the fulfillment of a contract spanning centuries."
Kaori Itadori—or rather, Kenjaku.
The woman looked toward Kyoto, her eyes holding a curiosity almost as pure as a child's.
"Let Dōman, who yearns for a soul reborn, seize this extraordinarily strange body—one capable of using Limitless without the Six Eyes..."
She laughed gently, like a mother. "How interesting. Since the main course hasn't begun yet, let this side dish called 'Imposter Possession' turn Kyoto upside down first."
"Todo... what are you doing..." Mizuki Makoto forced out the words with difficulty, his consciousness already beginning to collapse.
"This is the final move Teacher Tsukumo taught me. (Yuki Tsukumo: Don't make it sound like I've turned into 49.5 Tsukumo, you idiot disciple!) Once you survive, you'd better properly thank Master Yuki."
Veins bulged across Todo Aoi's forehead as his immense cursed energy expanded into a translucent spherical barrier.
If I survive, I'll never slander Miss Tsukumo as a desk-job Special Grade sorcerer on the Roppongi Eye forums again, okay...?
"Miss Mei! Buy me ten seconds! I'm sending this guy to the main battlefield where he belongs!"
"Ten seconds? That's an instant worth its weight in gold." Mei Mei took out her phone while commanding dozens of crows to turn into black flames and slam madly into the "cursed mouth" trying to devour everything.
"Listen, Brother!" Todo stared straight into Mizuki's eyes. "Your body is now a vessel for two people. We can't help with the battle outside, but inside your own 'shell,' you are the only 'god'!"
He suddenly shouted as the cursed energy within him burned to its limit in an instant:
"[Barrier Technique: Empty Cicada]—Inward Projection!"
To kill that old monster on the level of the soul, ordinary blows wouldn't work on a soul. He needed an attack that could reach its essence... an attack Todo and Mei Mei could deliver...
"Todo... Miss Mei Mei!... Don't hold back!" Mizuki Makoto used the last of his strength to roar. In the final second, the haze in his eyes was replaced by a mad, resolute determination.
Bzzzt—!
The noise around him vanished in an instant. When he opened his eyes again, the station, the tracks, Todo, and Mei Mei had all disappeared. Beneath his feet stretched a boundless purple surface as still as a mirror, while a deep, swirling nebula hung overhead.
This was the embryonic form of an Innate Domain, as well as the battlefield of the soul.
At the far end of the water, a man in lavish black-and-red ceremonial robes sat cross-legged atop a barren mountain of stone statues. He wore a tall skull-shaped hat, half his face already turned to bone, and he watched from above with smiling eyes.
"After hundreds of years, one who can use Limitless without the Six Eyes... is this the new garment Kenjaku has prepared for me?" Ashiya Dōman slowly opened his eyes, his voice seeming to come from the depths of hell.
He examined Mizuki Makoto and revealed a gentle smile that sent chills down one's spine.
"Then, before this humble monk accepts this body, do you have any final wishes, boy?"
