Conquering the Westerlands-Fortresses and Gold
No sooner had Loras led half of the Tyrell army away than Jon sent Black Walder with the House Frey army to take a detour as well.
In just a few days, the army besieging Golden Tooth had been reduced by half.
Jon's plan is progressing steadily, but many people share Loras's idea—which is really unreliable.
Rickard and Brynden could no longer contain themselves and went to see Jon, accompanied by Jeyne's father, Gavin.
Rickard was the first to speak, "Jon —Your Grace, let's recall Loras's army. Daven can simply send a Raven to find out if there are any reinforcements in the south. There's really no need for us to do this."
Considering that Jon had saved Harrion and resolved a great problem for the North, Rickard had tried his best to keep his words mild. If it had been anyone else, he would have already started cursing. If Harrion had proposed such a plan, he probably would have already lashed out with his whip.
"Yes, Jon, we understand you want to minimize casualties, but this plan is just... just... the word 'stupid' was on Brynden's lips, but he just couldn't say it."
After all, if it weren't for him, the Westerlands would never have had a unified and powerful command. Even if Jon attacked from the south, it wouldn't matter, as many families that had lost their leader would surrender without resistance.
Jon looked at Gavin, who had remained silent, and asked, "Does Gavin Earl think so?"
Gavin, nearing fifty, bowed and said, "Your Grace, this plan is unlikely to succeed. If we cannot breach Golden Tooth, let's begin our attack from the south. I believe that with your martial prowess and strategic acumen, conquering the Westerlands, except for Casterly Rock and Golden Tooth, will be no problem."
Jon looked at the three men before him, whose combined age was nearly two hundred, and smiled as he spoke, "Gentlemen, I am very pleased that you did not stay in the camp to wait and see me make a fool of myself, but instead offered your honest advice. However, please believe me, my plan goes beyond this, and I never intended to use this to get Daven to transfer the garrison of Golden Tooth."
Upon hearing that Jon had a plan, the three immediately listened intently.
However, Jon did not tell them about the Raven, as it was too far-fetched for ordinary people.
"Ser Loras should be back in two days. He can lead the remaining Tyrell army on another mission. Ser Brynden, you'll need to lead the Riverlands army to Riverrun. This charade needs to continue."
According to information gathered by Jon, the army of Golden Tooth had just evacuated 3,000 men, and there were also a large number of miners that could be brought up to the city walls.
We must continue to play along with them until the number of soldiers in Golden Tooth drops to a certain threshold.
Meanwhile, in the Golden Tooth, Daven's room was brightly lit by candles, and a noblewoman dressed in a silk corset stood before him.
If you look closely, you'll notice that the silk on the lady's hip area is scratched, indicating that she's worn it several times.
Although the gold mines near Golden Tooth are abundant, they all belong to Casterly Rock. Not a single grain of gold from the Golden Tooth gold mines will end up in the House Lefford's coffers.
This explains why, despite having a rich gold mine nearby, they are not wealthy.
"Three thousand!? Daven, why send away half the army at once?" Lady Lefford found it hard to accept when she learned of Daven's plan.
She instinctively took a step forward, but didn't notice the wrinkles in the carpet beneath her feet, and almost stumbled. Fortunately Daven caught her just in time.
"Who laid this carpet?! Drag them out and beat them to death!" Daven roared at the outside.
The Lannister were always cold and harsh towards their servants; Robert once Robert Golden Tooth and slept with a maid.
A maid gave birth to twins, who were thrown to their deaths, and the maid was sold into slavery.
Daven was no different, but at this moment, Lady Lefford, who was being supported by him, had a blush on her face; this kind of man gave her a greater sense of security.
After regaining her footing, Lady Lefford met Daven's gaze and subconsciously tightened her clothes, as if to accentuate her curves.
Daven knew this would happen.
In Tywin's letter, Tywin instructed Daven to approach Lady Lefford, stating that the army in Golden Tooth was now mainly composed of House Lefford.
Only by stabilizing Alysanne Lefford can we better stabilize Golden Tooth.
The reasoning is sound: the Lannister are facing their most difficult time. If Jon were to use the gold mine as leverage to get Lefford to open the city gates, wouldn't they soon be in grave danger?
Daven agreed with this point, but was surprised that Tywin would actually tell him the reason. The Lord of Casterly Rock was always a man of his word; an order was an order, and he never explained.
Remembering Tywin's words, Daven reassured him, "My lady, although we've sent half the army away, we still have three thousand miners training. They'll soon be qualified soldiers. Besides, that bastard certainly won't attack Golden Tooth. Half of his army has already been moved south; isn't it perfect that we send half as well? Don't worry, Lord Tywin has already made arrangements. The decisive battle will take place in the southern part of the Westerlands; we have nothing to fear."
After hearing Daven's explanation, Lady Lefford nodded very gently and agreed to go and explain to the House Lefford.
Her eyes flickered as she spoke, "Daven, the House Lefford still has some guards; I can entrust them to you as well. However, the children always cry at night. Could I take them and live closer to you?"
"Madam, don't worry. Although I've transferred half the troops, we still have enough manpower. You and the children can rest assured and stay in your original rooms."
In Daven's view, even if Tywin wanted him to get closer to Lefford, it wouldn't involve getting close enough to bed.
Otherwise, the House Lefford would probably just think they've gone too far. The family just died fighting for the title of Lord of Casterly Rock, and he's already indulging in debauchery with the mistress of another family. There's a good chance a mutiny might break out in the city.
Before leaving, Lefford gave Daven a deep look, her eyes alluring in the candlelight.
She absolutely adored Daven's golden beard; it was exactly like the image of her Godfather.
Suddenly, footsteps came from outside the door. The two instinctively moved away from each other. It was Daven's personal guards who entered.
"Sir, our scouts have reported that the army in Riverlands has also withdrawn."
"Okay, I understand." Daven nodded and said, "Continue monitoring."
"Yes, sir!"
Watching the soldiers leave, Daven thought that if Jon continued to send troops south, he could consider asking Tywin if he needed more reinforcements.
