Benjen's System Crash
Jon was examining the Direwolf Wights when he heard some commotion in Benjen's tent and rushed over immediately.
"Jon, Jon?" Although he recognized him at a glance as his illegitimate nephew, the difference in their demeanor was so great that Benjen almost thought he was a different person.
"You are now... the king?!"
"Yes, Uncle Benjen, you are actually my uncle, Lord Eddard is also my uncle, my father is Rhaegar Targaryen, and my aunt Lyanna is actually my mother, but none of that matters. I'm here to capture the White Walkers."
Benjen:???
Benjen found it hard to understand how these words could form a paragraph. He felt as if he were being bombarded by a massive amount of information, and for a moment he was even a little dizzy.
For the past few years, his world and his eyes had been filled with ice, snow and White Walkers. Suddenly being shocked by such an unbelievable secret, his brain seemed to be throbbing.
However, Benjen was, after all, the Night's Watch's finest Ranger, and the chief Ranger. For a moment, Benjen's brain was a bit sluggish, so he decided to block out this massive amount of information pollution. Jon seemed to have a lot of power now, and should be able to organize the manpower to deal with the White Walkers.
Jon patiently explained that his purpose in coming to the Wall was to capture some Wights and White Walkers, to better unite the entire Westeros, and also to get the people of the Free Cities to contribute.
"Jon, your idea is good, but the most urgent thing is to destroy those White Ghost ' ships, otherwise they'll bypass the Wall and go straight into the North."
"I saw those small rafts. Can they really go around the Wall? And how can small sails cross the sea? Won't they fall apart halfway there?" Sandor asked from the side.
"It's not that simple. Recently, for some reason, there's been a north-to-south ocean current flowing downstream at a very fast speed!" Benjen said, his expression growing increasingly serious. "I'm certain that this current didn't even exist two years ago!"
Benjen looked at Sandor; that scarred face was so conspicuous that even in poor lighting, he recognized Sandor immediately and instinctively tried to separate him from Jon with his body.
"Sacrifice?"
Jon immediately thought of this magic, but the origin of the ocean currents was no longer important; the key was to stop their actions.
"I've sent word to Dragonstone that our fleet is there," Jon said.
"It's too late. Inform the North lords immediately and tell them to prepare for battle."
Benjen shook his head, but after thinking for a moment, he said that sending the fleet would also be fine, even if there wasn't enough time, it would be good to prevent more White Walkers from arriving on rafts.
Benjen went on to talk about the White Walkers ' raft. It turned out that they had wrapped the raft in ice to make it more secure, but since they didn't have sails, they had to use fur instead.
"So even with ocean currents, their rafts still aren't fast enough and risk falling apart as they head south. If we can find a way to burn their sails, we can slow them down?" Adam said from the side.
In his view, since these White Walkers went to such great lengths to collect human skins and furs to make sails, it meant that their "ice rafts" were not very reliable and would eventually fall apart.
"We have Wildfire, why don't we just burn the ships together? What can't Wildfire?" After witnessing the specially made Wildfire that Jon brought, which could be stored and transported on a large scale, the old commander Daenys realized that it would greatly change the nature of the war.
Just as everyone was discussing how to stop the White Walkers, Jon suddenly laughed, his laughter so hearty that some of the snow on the branches above him fell off.
Why is Your Majesty laughing?
Everyone looked at Jon with puzzled expressions, not understanding what was wrong with him.
"Gentlemen, I see that the living will prevail!!!"
Jon spoke, looking at the puzzled crowd, including experienced people like Benjen and Daenys.
"The living will prevail!?"
"Why?"
A small portion was filled with doubt, but a considerable portion was filled with anticipation and excitement, waiting for Jon's answers.
He looked into the expectant eyes, pulled over a White Walkers whose back and thighs had been peeled bare, and said, "It's productivity! Productivity will ensure our victory!"
"Productive forces?"
What productivity?
The crowd was puzzled, so Jon continued to explain, "We living people should make sails by crafting canvas, not by using the non-regenerating skin of these lowly monsters. We only need to succeed once to thwart their attempt to sail south around the sea."
After hearing this explanation, a sense of strength suddenly arose in everyone's hearts.
Simply put, a living person can lose many times, but White Walkers can only lose once.
"As you've all seen, the White Walkers are completely incapable of creating armor. They know perfectly well that Dragonglass will inflict terrible damage on them, but they can only rely on their innate armor to withstand it. As for the Wights, they're nothing but lambs to the slaughter!"
As Jon spoke, he pierced the cheek of a Wights beside him with his Valyrian steel, and the faces of the others around him revealed an indescribable excitement.
The army of White Walkers Wights is fearless of death, but their productivity is terribly low, which will be the key to humanity's victory.
"Your Majesty is right. We are facing nothing more than a bunch of beasts that only know how to bite. There is nothing to be afraid of. It would take me several blows to kill a bear," Sigorn said, stepping forward.
"Cut off the Night King's head and present it to His Majesty!" Sandor shouted, raising his arms.
"The living will prevail!" Alliser shouted.
At this point, Jon had achieved his desired effect. Both generals and soldiers understood the Wights ' fatal weakness, were no longer afraid of them, and were no longer confused about victory.
However, this brings us back to the same problem: Hardhome is surrounded by a massive army of White Walkers; how could their small force possibly break through?
"Among those White Walkers is a legion of Giants, a legion of Giants, at least five or six hundred Giants, covered in ice armor! We definitely can't handle this with just the few of us!" Benjen said helplessly.
Despite Jon's promising outlook, the current difficulties are undeniable.
"Jon, let's retreat for now. At least the North is still vast, and we can rely on its expansive land to fight them."
Benjen is clearly in a very conflicted state, but he can't blame anyone else. Regardless of how Jon became king, it's already quite remarkable that he could personally visit the Wall as a king. In his memory, only Jaehaerys I been to the Wall.
As for the other kings, let alone the Wall, they never even set foot on the North lands because of their aversion to the cold.
He had just met a living person, so he was inevitably excited and exaggerated some issues.
But when you calm down and think about it, it's not a big deal.
Just as everyone was deep in thought, Jon spoke up, "Perhaps we could do this—"
Benjen looked up at Jon, wondering what good idea he had, but the others looked on expectantly, with Sandor even wanting to rub his face against Jon's nose.
He had previously worried that Sandor might have ill intentions towards Jon, but now it seemed absolutely impossible.
There were also other generals from various families across the Seven Kingdoms, and not one of them disrespected Jon.
When Robert Winterfell to invite Eddard to come south and become Hand of the King, most of the people around him kept their distance with respect, but Benjen could see that these people had absolute respect for Jon.
Benjen now understood that Jon was not just a king, but a king with real power.
Rhaegar Targaryen... that actually makes sense.
Benjen's mind wandered to Rhaegar, who was also beloved throughout the Seven Kingdoms.
Jon Snow said, "Since these White Walkers are building rafts, let's build rafts too. Their rafts can drift south with the ocean currents, and ours can wait until they're close enough, then we'll light Wildfire and burn their rafts! Even if we can't burn all of them, it doesn't matter; at least we can destroy some! This will allow as few White Walkers as possible to get around the Wall!"
After some thought, the group realized it seemed feasible. Since they had created ocean currents, they might as well utilize them!
The only problem is that they are currently south of Hardhome. If they want to take advantage of the ocean currents, they will have to go around to the north of Hardhome to allow the Wildfire to drift downstream.
However, many White Walkers are still converging on Hardhome from the Land of Always Winter. Heading north means encountering even more White Walkers and Wights, which will take longer and be more dangerous.
However, with Benjen's example, this shouldn't be too difficult.
The key lies in the Wights wolf that Benjen brought back.
Benjen claims to have mastered the abilities of Skinchanger, Skinchanging and controlling a Direwolf, but the Direwolf is killed by the White Walkers and turns into Wights.
He subdued the Wights Direwolf Direwolf, emptied its internal organs, and used them as a disguise.
In other words, Jon and the others could now do the same, hollowing out the Wights ' internal organs and making shells to disguise themselves.
Without hesitation, they emptied the internal organs of hundreds of Wights, cut them in half at the waist, and broke their jawbones.
It's strange, really. These Wights die when shot in the torso with Dragonglass Arrow, but they are unaffected when their internal organs are emptied. It's really hard to understand.
If they weren't going to attack the White Walkers, they could have disposed of the Wights by throwing them into the water to reduce their load.
"Perhaps it's some kind of force field?" Jon didn't think much of it, but a hundred or so people were clearly not enough. However, Benjen suggested that perhaps those wearing "Wights" could surround them for cover.
Or it could be used for scouting or something similar.
In the end, the number of participants was set at around four hundred.
They needed to trek for more than half a month to reach the area north of Hardhome.
However, it is inevitable that if they set fire to the north of Hardhome, the White Walkers will notice.
Even the Night King might be in Hardhome.
The siege by hundreds of thousands of Wights and White Walkers had only one outcome—a one-way trip.
