My Lord, Your Son Is Gay
In the afternoon, the infantry from the Westerlands finally arrived.
After Kevan met up with Tywin, he immediately said worriedly, "It's too dangerous! What if Tyrell detains you? You could have sent someone instead."
"No, it won't." Tywin looked at the soldiers in the camp, some repairing weapons, others bandaging wounds.
Although everyone was exhausted, no one complained.
"These are the elite of the Westerlands," Tywin suddenly remarked.
Kevan nodded in agreement; these soldiers were truly commendable. If it were ordinary soldiers, they would probably have deserted by now. Without them—
Suddenly, Kevan realized a terrible consequence.
What would happen to the Westerlands without these soldiers, or rather, without Tywin?
What will the Lannister do?
He had no faith in Damion was currently stationed at Casterly Rock.
All he knew was that if these troops suffered any great losses, or if Tywin met with some accident—*
This terrifying possibility sent a shiver down Kevan's spine; such a thing absolutely could not happen.
He prayed that Tywin's test would be successful.
He prayed that the Red Keep had not fallen.
He prayed that Joffrey was still alive.
Seven heard his prayer and responded.
"Your Grace, news has arrived from Broomfield: Red Keep is still in our hands! That bastard has not breached Red Keep!"
Tywin had never even heard of the place name Broomfield, let alone paid it any attention.
But this news made Tywin like a satiated lion. He jumped to his feet and shouted, "Tell Lord Mace, launch a full-scale attack on King's Landing by noon tomorrow!"
Meanwhile, Joffrey inside the Red Keep was equally excited.
He stood atop the arrow tower of the Red Keep, peering longingly through his binoculars.
He was accompanied by Grand Maester Pycelle.
Joffrey seemed to recall something and suddenly asked, "If the Mad King Aerys hadn't believed my grandfather, would he have been able to storm the Red Keep in King's Landing?"
"Well--"
Pycelle opened his mouth, unsure how to answer.
If they manage to break through, what if they scare Joffrey?
If they can't break through, Jon can simply keep Tywin out, which will only scare the king who's deserting his post.
However, Pycelle was still sharp-witted; considering the current situation, he guessed the answer Joffrey wanted.
"Your Majesty, Lord Tywin and Lord Mace have a combined army of 100,000; they will surely be able to storm King's Landing. That bastard Jon has only a little over 10,000 men. He not only wants to defend the walls, but also wants to attack the Red Keep. That's impossible."
"Hmm." Joffrey nodded, a satisfied expression on his face.
A face flashed before his eyes, and he decided to go find her.
Sansa, who was kneeling on the bed praying, was suddenly startled by the sound of the door being broken down.
Her body jerked involuntarily, and her heart pounded even faster.
Sansa knew it was Joffrey.
Before she could get out of bed to greet him, Joffrey was already standing in front of her.
Kneel down!
"Joffrey said coldly."
Sansa lowered her head, about to kneel as she had done before.
But then she suddenly remembered something and stood up again from her half-squatting position.
"My brother is outside." Sansa dared not look at the face she had once been infatuated with, but she still managed to say those words, though she left out half a sentence—"You are not the rightful king. Merely defying Joffrey had already exhausted her courage."
Upon hearing her say this, Joffrey raised the whip in his hand, ready to strike.
Sansa tensed up and turned her face away, trying to protect herself.
But Joffrey suddenly thought of something and chuckled.
"You don't know yet, do you? My maternal grandfather, Lord Tywin, and Lord Mace from Highgarden, they've assembled an army of 100,000 and are attacking King's Landing. It won't be long before your brother is a prisoner too. I heard his wolf was white, right? I'm going to skin your bastard brother and his wolf together and make me a cloak."
One hundred thousand troops--
Upon hearing the number, Sansa turned pale and swayed precariously.
She couldn't imagine exactly how many people were in an army of 100,000.
But King's Landing's total population is only 500,000.
this--
That familiar feeling of despair washed over her again, and Sansa collapsed to the ground once more.
"Men, strip her naked and hang her on the walls of the Red Keep! Let everyone see!"
"No! No! Please don't do this, please—"
Sansa pleaded, Tears streaming down her face like a broken string of beads.
But Joffrey's guards didn't care about any of that; they grabbed Sansa's arm, which wasn't much thicker than their own fingers, and dragged her out.
Just then, a blond servant suddenly rushed in and stopped him.
"Your Majesty, Jon has captured Myrcella and Tommen!"
"What!?"
Meanwhile, Cersei, who was initially excited by the news of reinforcements, was once again filled with worry.
She only had one hostage, while Jon Snow had two.
She can still solve the simplest arithmetic problems.
But neither side is willing to exchange hostages.
Or rather, both sides have a tacit understanding.
So Jon demanded that Sansa have the softest bed, the most comfortable clothes, and the most delicious food, so that Myrcella and Tommen could receive the same treatment.
Cersei had no choice but to agree.
"Let's see how long you can be so smug!" Cersei looked grimly toward the direction of the River Gate, her green eyes like the vertical pupils of a viper.
But her expression quickly softened, and a look of worry appeared on her face.
My child--
"That's what he said?"
"Yes, he said he doesn't care about anything else, he just wants Joffrey's life!"
Inside the room, a bald, chubby man was leaning against the fireplace.
There was no one around him, but there was clearly someone else speaking.
Upon closer listening, the sound was coming from inside the wall.
This is the secret passage in the Red Keep.
"Understood." The fat man dressed in silk stuffed a few Copper Star into the wall and then turned to leave.
This man was Varys, who was trying to "win over" Jon by providing him with an escape route.
He did indeed recognize Jon's talent and wanted to send him across the Narrow Sea so that he could serve Young Griff in the future.
But Jon's attitude sent chills down his spine.
Throughout his life, everyone he came into contact with was either after power or wealth.
But Jon doesn't want anything; all he wants is revenge.
He was even willing to risk his own life for revenge.
Just like when Jon staged his coup, Roose Bolton's words failed to intimidate Jon.
His suggestion to escape was utterly unappealing.
"What a pity," Varys shook his head.
He still doesn't think highly of Jon.
There's an army of 100,000 outside.
How could Jon possibly stop him?
This is King's Landing, with seven gates and a long defensive line, so it's full of openings.
Varys estimated that it wouldn't be long before Jon would find himself in a situation where he had to put out fires everywhere.
Then he gradually lost his footing, becoming helpless and incompetent, until he was defeated and became a prisoner.
Of course, given his personality, he might commit suicide.
With that in mind, Vas decided to drop all consideration for Jon.
Anyway, people have already died from "futures trading".
If they want to fight, then let them fight. Let's deplete the power of the Usurper Dynasty and prepare for Young Griff's future return.
Soon it was time for Tywin and Mace to agree on the siege.
Surprisingly, the weather cleared up. Perhaps it was because of yesterday's rain, but the sun shone brightly over King's Landing, and a gentle sea breeze blew.
If it weren't for the fact that an army of 100,000 had already surrounded King's Landing's Landing, one would almost think it was just an ordinary day.
Of course, they didn't need to attack every gate; instead, they focused their main attacks on the Lion Gate, the King's Gate, and the River Gate.
Tywin could tell that Jon was furious.
People on the city wall were seen shouting at people below through a makeshift megaphone.
"Tywin! You bastard! I will kill you!"
"Mace, you support Usurper King, you traitor, I'll cut off your head—"
"Lannister, come and besiege us if you dare, you bunch of bastards!"
To Tywin, these insults sounded like the music of a harpist, or perhaps just the dying screams of prey.
"This bastard must have known his end was near," Kevan said, while Tywin's lips curled into a barely perceptible smile.
"No rush. Let our army prepare further before launching a joint attack."
"Hmm." Kevan nodded.
Launching an attack simultaneously is, of course, the best approach.
Their siege equipment still needs some inspection and preparation.
Suddenly, a servant came to Tywin and reported, "Your Grace, Lord Mace has launched an attack ahead of schedule at River Gate!"
"Wh-why?" Before Tywin could react, Kevan was taken aback.
Didn't we agree to attack together?
What's going on in Mace's head?
This is basic military common sense!
Let's rewind to half an hour earlier.
Jon, having Raven the location of Raven Mace, then had his soldiers use megaphones to issue tickets:
"Mace Tyrell! So what if you're a duke!? You've never won a single battle in your life, you couldn't even take Storm's End with a force of seven or eight, and now you want to take on King's King's Landing with a force of fifty!? You might as well go home and take care of your children!"
As the saying goes, lies may not hurt people, but the truth is the sharpest knife.
If anyone said that Randyll Tarly couldn't fight, he would sneer and then draw his sword to kill them.
But if it is said that Mace did not fight, then he would be furious.
"Sweep the city! I want to capture this bastard myself!"
"My lord, now is not the time! We must wait for Lord Tywin to join the attack!" Tarly advised. "Yes, Father, not now!"
If you see your father yelling and shouting before doing something, stop him!
His grandmother's teachings echoed in Garlan's mind, and he stood firmly in front of Mace.
After some persuasion, Mace calmed down.
But the abuse of power on the city walls didn't stop there.
Soon, even more vulgar and offensive language came from the city wall:
"Mace! You're no good at fighting, and you're no good at having sons either! Lord Mace, your son is a homosexual!"
Your son is gay!
Don't you understand that I just like men?
Both of your sons are gay!
There's also one with a disability!
Your daughter isn't exactly a respectable daughter either. Her engagement to Renly led to his Renly's King's Landing fell short of her engagement to Joffrey.
Mace, you're gay, he likes men!!!!
"Let me go! I'm going to kill him! I'm going to kill this bastard with my own hands!!!"
Once Mace left, no one could persuade him to stay.
How could the "proud" Lord Mace tolerate such slander?
Thus, the battle at River Gate resumed less than two days later.
