Bian He quietly got up and walked over to the cabinet.
He took a syringe of medicine from the box and injected it into his body without hesitation.
The icy medicine hurt as it flowed through him.
Even his consciousness grew somewhat muddled.
Their pheromone compatibility, Wan Ying's tolerance and indulgence toward him... if all of it was taken back because of his different status.
Then he could undergo surgery, as long as there was even the slightest hope.
He would work hard to become the kind of person Wan Ying liked.
The medicine took effect.
Bian He clenched his teeth, his fists tightening from the pain as his body shook uncontrollably.
The strength drained from his legs, as though they could no longer support him.
Sweat soaked his hair.
It hurt too much.
He did not like suppressants at all.
He only wanted pheromones.
But Wan Ying was unwilling to give them to him, and unwilling to accept his mark.
If only he were not a Figema. If he were an Enigma like Wan Ying, that would be fine too.
Though he might want to fight for a position.
Yet he was a Figema, unable to be marked.
If Wan Ying could not accept that, he would not break up over such a difference.
He could just get surgery when the time came.
He could not abandon him.
If that day truly came, he would definitely go mad and be unable to stop himself from tearing down the Law District.
Bian He leaned against the cabinet, exhaling deeply again and again.
His forehead was covered in cold sweat, which dripped onto his clothes.
Strands of floral-scented pheromones leaked out.
His pheromones were unstable, rising and falling erratically.
He could not wake him up.
This damn suppressant... why was it so unbearable?
"Wan Ying..."
Bian He buried his face between his knees and could not help murmuring the name.
His hand went slack.
The suppressant fell into a crack.
Even without pheromones to soothe him, he could endure it.
His consciousness was about to spiral out of control.
Bian He braced himself on the bookshelf and stood, trying his best to keep his movements small.
He could not wake Wan Ying.
With a soft click, the door closed.
He supported himself against the wall and made his way to the guest room.
The moment he entered, he headed straight into the bathroom.
He turned on the shower, and icy water splashed over him, gradually easing the heat inside his body.
After taking a half-hour cold shower.
Bian He lay curled up on the bed, wrapped tightly in the blanket.
His body was far too cold.
He slowly opened his eyes, pale blue light flickering in and out of them.
Drowsiness gradually overtook him along with the dizziness.
The night passed.
Wan Ying sat up and rubbed his stiff neck.
It was already seven o'clock. It was rare for him to sleep so well.
Could it be because Bian He had been beside him, so he had slept especially soundly?
When he turned his head, his gaze instantly went cold.
Only a patch of wrinkles remained on the other side of the bed, nothing else.
Wan Ying touched it. The bed was cold; clearly, no one had slept there.
Was Bian He disgusted with him? When had he left? Wan Ying had not even noticed.
Where had he gone?
Wan Ying had thought it was a reward, but Bian He had not wanted to lie in the same bed as him at all.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
Wan Ying threw back the blanket as though venting and got up to wash.
He deliberately turned on the faucet to make noise.
Yet Bian He, whose hearing had always been sharp, did not come over.
After taking a shower.
Wan Ying shuffled around in his slippers, making noise again.
There was still nothing.
He came out with wet hair.
Cold water dripped onto the floor.
He sat on the edge of the bed, looking at the puddles he had deliberately made by not drying himself off.
His mind gradually cleared.
Wan Ying laughed angrily.
What exactly was Bian He doing? What was there to sulk about?
His inexplicable morning grumpiness made him irritable.
This was a little unlike him.
Since when had he become so delicate? Did he need Bian He to coax him awake now?
Wan Ying pinched the bridge of his nose and forcibly calmed himself down.
He opened the wardrobe and casually took out a light gray outfit.
Once he was dressed, he prepared to go to work.
When he reached the living room, it was still empty. He did not even see Bian He's shadow.
Had he run away?
He had said he would always listen to Wan Ying alone. How could he suddenly leave?
Were those previous words merely meant to lower Wan Ying's guard, so Bian He could prepare to escape?
A mess of thoughts flashed through his mind.
He walked to the door and was about to change his shoes.
Wan Ying's expression shifted slightly as he abruptly looked toward the guest room.
He opened the guest room door.
Sure enough, there was an extra lump on the bed.
Why had he suddenly come to this room?
Wan Ying moved closer.
That little face, white enough to glow, was now flushed red.
Wan Ying crouched beside the bed and touched his forehead.
He had a fever. Was it because he had not received comfort during his heat?
"Bian He, wake up. I'm taking you to the hospital."
He stood, grabbed Bian He's hand, and bent down to pick him up.
The moment his hand reached Bian He's neck, Bian He suddenly clung tightly to him.
"...No... I'm not going to the hospital. I'll be fine after sleeping for a while."
Even his voice was no longer as obediently soft and sweet as before.
It sounded as though his throat had been frozen over, hoarse with a faint chill beneath it.
He had just refused to let go, but then suddenly seemed to realize something. Fighting back his reluctance, he released Wan Ying and curled himself into a ball beneath the blanket.
His voice was even more muffled beneath the blanket. "Go to work. Stay farther away from me, or I'll infect you."
Wan Ying looked helpless and pulled back the blanket.
"You're burning up like this. How am I supposed to go to work? Don't let me come back to find that you've turned into a corpse, or become some foolish thing... that doesn't even recognize me."
He picked up the little darling and headed downstairs.
Bian He wore the man's coat draped over him, quietly leaning against the man's chest.
But he was too tall.
Even when he curled himself up as much as possible, he was still such a big bundle.
Bian He pressed tightly against the person he loved. Feeling the mint pheromones, his own pheromones happily curled around them.
He unconsciously rubbed against Wan Ying's neck. "Wan Ying..."
Wan Ying paused, enduring the ticklish sensation on his neck.
He warned, "Stay still for a while, okay? Don't move around."
Bian He was very obedient and truly stopped moving.
They had only just left the residential complex.
The sound of sniffling reached Wan Ying's ears.
Wan Ying's brow twitched as he placed Bian He in the front passenger seat.
When he looked down, Bian He's nose was red from crying.
He looked like a little tomato puppy.
Wan Ying bent over and carefully wiped away the tears on his face.
"Why are you crying?"
Being sick made him especially vulnerable. Perhaps he needed more coaxing.
Bian He gave a soft huff and turned his head away from the man.
"You were mean to me just now..."
??
When had Wan Ying been mean?
Wan Ying lightly pinched the tip of his nose, cupped his face, and forcibly turned him back to meet his eyes.
Puzzled, he said, "When was I mean to you? It's just that if you keep doing that, I'll feel uncomfortable."
Bian He's influence over him was a little beyond imagination.
Perhaps it was because of their compatibility.
But no matter the reason, Wan Ying could not ignore the fact that Bian He could make him feel uncomfortable.
Bian He thought about it, then opened his mouth and bit the man's fingertip.
He spoke indistinctly, "Give me a little pheromone, okay?"
Wan Ying's eyes flickered as he caught on to his intention.
"How do you want me to give it to you?"
Leaning into the front passenger seat was a little uncomfortable.
It even felt a little strange.
He did not like it.
Bian He lowered his eyelids and deliberately brushed the tip of his nose against the man's cheek. "Let me bite you once. Just once will be enough."
At that.
Wan Ying raised a brow and teased with a smile, "Have you really turned into an animal? What dog have you ever seen that dared to bite someone? It would be chopped into pieces and thrown into a dog meat shop."
There was not the slightest threat in his laughter.
Bian He kissed the bridge of the man's nose. "Could you bear to do it? Without me, you'll never find someone as pretty, obedient, and dependent on their master as I am."
So he was aware of his own looks.
He even knew he was pretty.
Wan Ying wrinkled his nose and deliberately contradicted him. "Really? Do you think I lack obedient ones? Without you, there'll be plenty more."
