Bang!
Bian He kicked open the iron door.
Sending up a cloud of dust.
The director leaned against the corner of the wall, blood dripping from the hand hanging at his side.
He looked at the blood on the floor, his chest tightening. "What happened?"
Wan Ying raised his eyes at the newcomer. "Be careful. There's a living creature in here."
Bian He walked over to the man and took a tourniquet from his bag.
Leaning closer, his voice turned two degrees colder. "Director Wan, you're really terrible at taking care of yourself. You've lost this much blood—aren't you afraid you'll bleed to death?"
His voice was cold, but his movements were gentle.
He pulled aside the clothing, revealing a new scratch on the arm. Fortunately, it was not very long.
A Tibetan Brown Bear.
Why would there be a bear in a place like this?
The scratch was severe.
Wan Ying instinctively disliked the figure that had suddenly drawn close.
He shot back, "Then I may have to disappoint you. This little blood loss won't kill me."
He wanted to catch the creature. What if someone entered this place and got hurt by accident...
That bear was smart. Sensing danger, it hid behind a cabinet and refused to come out.
"Enough. Director Wan, go back first. I'll deal with it for you." Bian He stepped in front of the man.
Wan Ying glanced at the bandage on his arm, then shifted his gaze to the person standing in front of him.
Why was this guy so tall too?
His little dog was tall too.
"You're staying behind. Aren't you afraid I'll steal your credit? Your team must have gathered quite a lot of supplies too."
Since when had this guy become so kind-hearted?
Bian He rolled his wrist. "So what if we gather more? It won't end up in our hands. Want me to share some of my supplies with you? At least yours should end up in your hands, right?"
If the supplies were converted into money, it would be no small sum.
Wan Ying raised a brow but said nothing.
He did not need charity from anyone.
Besides, he did not need money. It was only a mission; how much each person completed depended entirely on their own abilities.
Suddenly!
The Tibetan Brown Bear charged out.
It raised its forepaw, its sharp claws seeming ready to tear a hole in the sky.
With a thud.
Bian He kicked the cabinet into the corridor, blocking the attack.
"Wan Ying..."
He turned to look behind him.
Wan Ying truly deserved to be the man he had taken a fancy to. Standing atop the cabinet, he grabbed an iron rod beside him and leaped down.
One blow from the rod left the bear dazed.
Bian He took the chance to inject it with anesthetic.
A bear should not have appeared in a place like this.
Had someone put it here, or was it a failed experiment?
Bian He glanced at the room's layout. Catching the man off guard, he wrapped an arm around his waist and jumped out the window.
He landed steadily.
Before he could even catch his breath, a fist came flying at his face.
"Are you looking to die?"
Wan Ying's gaze was icy, his face dark.
Bian He sidestepped, catching the scent of fresh mint.
Excitement flashed through his eyes. He quickly lowered the brim of his hat, barely suppressing it.
A bitter floral scent leaked out.
His tongue swept across his lips as he teased with a smile, "Director Wan is still as fierce as ever. Be careful, or you won't be able to find a boyfriend."
Wan Ying withdrew his hand and snorted coldly. "The Special Executive Officer should worry more about himself."
The danger had been eliminated.
The bloodstains on his clothes were filthy as hell.
Bian He adjusted his mask and stepped two paces closer, close enough to smell the mint scent more strongly.
"Director Wan really throws people away once he's done with them. I just bandaged you, and now you're pretending you don't know me?"
His words carried an ambiguous undertone.
Anyone who did not know better would think there was something between them.
Wan Ying frowned and immediately tore off the gaudy tourniquet.
"I think the Executive Officer has lived long enough."
Wan Ying released suppressive pheromones, his Enigma presence fully unleashed.
The mint scent smelled wonderful.
Bian He took a deep breath and lowered his hat.
Pretending to cough twice, he said, "Director Wan, don't you think releasing suppressive pheromones in public is very rude? There's no time. Five minutes remain. Let's see who reaches the finish line first."
With that, he pulled an iron chain from his hand, swung it forcefully onto a tree, and vanished with the momentum.
Wan Ying remained where he was, watching the direction the other man had gone.
That guy was still as annoying as ever.
He never showed his face and kept himself wrapped up so tightly. He was probably ugly.
Every time, he had to deliberately tease him. The bastard was addicted to being irritating.
Back in the car.
"Director, where did you go? Are you okay?"
"Damn, why does it smell like blood? Bro, you're hurt?"
Wan Ying took off his coat. The sleeve had been torn, and the bear's claws had cut his hand.
After disinfecting it, he gave it a simple bandage.
It was not a big deal and did not hurt much. He healed faster than most people.
That guy's tourniquet was quite useful, though. The wound had already stopped bleeding.
His mouth was just infuriating.
"Bro, are you feeling unwell? Why would there be a living creature in that place? Should we go to the hospital for a checkup?"
"It's all my fault. If I hadn't left something there, the director wouldn't have gotten hurt."
"Director, I'm sorry. I'll give you all the money from this batch of supplies."
Wan Ying took a pocket watch from his chest and returned it to his teammate. "Enough. It's not a serious problem. Don't make a fuss. How could I possibly take your things?"
"Did you run into people from their team? How did it feel this time? Did you improve?"
The conversation shifted to business.
The group began sharing their experiences.
"I'll go first, I'll go first. Their Executive Officer actually saved my life. Who knew there was a well hidden beneath a patch of weeds? I nearly fell in."
As he spoke, he suddenly became a little bashful.
"Director, do you know whether their Executive Officer has a lover? Could I be his partner...?"
The moment those words came out, everyone cried out in surprise.
"Damn, can you have a little more ambition? Dating a mortal enemy?"
"Buddy, you've got some guts. I heard their Executive Officer has a pretty fussy personality. He's not easy to get along with. Are you sure you can handle him?"
"If you get together with their Executive Officer, where does that leave our director? Isn't our boss handsome enough? What kind of sense does it make to run into the enemy's den?"
Wan Ying leaned back in his seat to rest. Listening to them, he unconsciously recalled his encounter with that guy.
After thinking for two seconds, he struck at the heart of the matter. "I advise you not to waste your feelings. That guy isn't the type you can control."
With that venomous mouth of his, every word he said seemed designed to infuriate someone to death.
Sure enough, he was about the same height and build.
Still, he was different from Wan Ying's obedient, soft little dog.
Having been struck at the heart by his own boss.
The Omega leaned against the seat, utterly despondent. "Boss, did you have to be so direct? I've only just fallen for someone."
"Really, that scene was exactly like the hero-saving-the-beauty scenario I'd imagined. Just as I was about to fall to the bottom of the well, a figure entered my sight. He told me, 'Grab the rope,' then pulled me out like a god."
"I had wanted to accidentally fall into his arms, but unfortunately, he never touched me at all. He left right after saving me, and I didn't even get the chance to thank him."
The more he spoke, the more excited he became, his face red as anything.
Wan Ying looked at his teammate's expression with undisguised disgust.
His curiosity piqued, he asked, "Can you tell me why you like him? He was armed so tightly. Do you even know what he looks like? Maybe he's ugly?"
A hat and a mask—anyone who did not know better would think he had some contagious disease.
Who would have thought that the moment he said that.
The Omega retorted with a red face, "How could he be ugly if he's that tall? His proportions were like a living clothes hanger—broad shoulders, narrow waist, absolutely incredible. That stud waist looked so powerful."
He looked completely lovestruck.
"..." Wan Ying's vision went dark, and he decisively shut up.
He could not argue with the stud waist.
He did look pretty cool in that outfit.
If not for that venomous mouth, he would have been much more pleasing to the eye.
