Background / History
Damian began hauling cargo at the docks at age seven after Marcus’s back worsened and ship-repair work became inconsistent. The labor built his strength and endurance, though Damian recognized that physical power alone was not swordsmanship. 18
When the Tomoe reacted to Marcus’s blood, Damian was the first sibling to sense the phenomenon. He later retained memories of a dark-clothed swordsman who fought with a short blade and used hand signs to create independently moving fireballs. 2 3
For the following year, Damian secretly trained in swordsmanship and chakra cultivation while working. He initially tried to prevent Mila from participating, but could not answer her challenge that this meant he looked down on her. 4
When Barlow proposed building the household’s future through trade, Damian put aside his desire to challenge the world’s rules directly and joined the family’s effort to improve their circumstances. 16 17
Appearance
Damian is a broad-shouldered man whose build was developed through years of dock labor and training. He commonly wears a dark brown coat with its sleeves rolled to his forearms. 18 40
- His hair is longer and more untidy than Barlow’s or Roy’s. 40
- He bears two old scars on his exposed forearms from the violence in Orange Town. 40
- His Sharingan manifests as scarlet eyes with black tomoe; his Mangekyō has a four-spiral, flame-like pattern. 25 77
- Following three years away from Orange Town, he is described as thinner, harder, and more composed. 40
Personality
Damian is steadfast, stubborn, and protective. Even as a young man, he focused first on whether Roy had been injured rather than on the pirates Roy had killed or the spoils he had taken. 2 7 He sees himself as responsible for protecting the household, a conviction that drives his constant sword training. 18
He is capable of extreme ruthlessness toward threats, yet treats those under Uchiha authority with measured respect. After returning to Orange Town, he personally acknowledged retainers Koldo and Rosa and told them they did not need to bow every time. 25 40
As a Marine, Damian remains pragmatic rather than power-hungry. He refuses a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit because it does not suit his established combat system and believes Sengoku can employ it more effectively. 84 93
Abilities & Skills
Sharingan
Damian’s Sharingan grants enhanced perception in combat and develops through multiple tomoe stages before reaching the Mangekyō. 25 73 77
- Tracks opponents’ movements, including Lane’s rapid transformed charge. 74
- Cannot overcome every physical disparity; against Zager, Damian can see the attacks but his body cannot always keep pace. 34
- Its presence alone intimidates pirates, leaving Vaughn’s crew unable to act against him. 80
Uchiha Style Swordsmanship
Damian wields a broad-bladed short sword with broad, powerful strikes originally likened to chopping firewood. 18 34
- His reach and powerful sword arcs force opponents such as Zager backward. 34
- He can fight effectively while injured and exhausted, as demonstrated in his prolonged duel with Lane. 73 75
- He refuses to replace his personal sword with a standard Marine blade, regarding it as part of his Uchiha identity. 81
Uchiha Style: Halo Dance
Damian channels flames along his blade to create burning sword arcs and lingering afterimages. 74 75
- The technique burns through Lane’s mane and badly scorches his hand when he attempts to seize the blade. 74
- Repeated slashes form a web of orange-blue afterimages across the battlefield. 75
- Damian spent a month merely stabilizing the first flame on his sword and considered the technique experimental before using it against Lane. 74
Mangekyō Sharingan
Damian’s Mangekyō awakened through grief at Marcus’s death. Its inherited powers impose a severe burden on his body and eyesight. 77 81
- Ame-no-Tokotachi — Freezes non-living objects; its cost rises exponentially against living targets. Damian uses it to halt Vaughn’s sword and musket bullets in midair. 80 81
- Takemikazuchi — Produces invisible slashes that ignore distance. Damian uses it to cut down Vaughn’s crew without drawing his sword. 80 81
- He fears that his eyes may fail before he completes his mission. 81
Physical Strength and Endurance
Years of manual labor and combat training give Damian considerable strength, resilience, and pain tolerance. 18 73
- He defeats the Sea Serpent Gang alone while remaining unharmed. 25
- He lifts and throws a pirate into two incoming attackers during the casino battle. 34
- He continues fighting Lane after a fractured forearm, numerous claw wounds, and repeated impacts. 74 75
