What looked like a wise move did not stand up to scrutiny. The Magic Empire had a tradition of using summons in battle, but not of using vast numbers of summons to besiege a single enemy. Unable to coordinate or divide their tasks, problems immediately arose.
Daisy ignored those summons. There were so many mages present, and summons would not attack their original summoners—that was explicitly stipulated in the summoning contract—but they would attack the other mages!
A demon summoned a rain of fiery meteors. Daisy did not even look at it before dodging aside. The fire rain instantly wiped out all the low- and mid-level mages within a radius of a thousand meters.
A massive plant burst out of the ground. It looked somewhat like a man-eating flower, except every petal bore an evil-looking eye.
All the mages who met the evil eyes' gaze went into a daze and spat out blood in unison. Those with weak wills collapsed and died without even making a sound.
The summons had all manner of attacks. While Daisy's eyes were opened, the mages paid the price for their rash actions.
They cast all sorts of anti-summoning spells. Amid flashing lights, more than a dozen mages joined forces, preparing to shift the battlefield into another dimension.
"Don't even think about it! How could you leave with so many good friends here?" Daisy had also prepared two flying daggers. Janine's Edge was just a joke, but combined with her Star Mark power, lightning danced through the air as the daggers split into three midair. Two consecutive throws left six mages dead or wounded—three dead, three injured—and directly interrupted the spell.
Watching in every direction and listening to everything around her, she fully exploited her superior mobility, constantly searching for openings among her enemies.
