Seeing Daisy's slender palm press against her skin again, Viper could no longer hold out.
"I'll talk, I'll talk!"
Viper weighed all sides in her mind, licked her lips, and said, "Someone within your S.H.I.E.L.D. wants you dead."
Daisy paused slightly. The news was within expectations. Though it was not what she wanted to know, she continued pressing her. "Who?"
In her view, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s former director Alexander Pierce, Baldy Sitwell, and Grant Ward, who had become famous because of Jurassic Park's male lead, were all suspects.
But none of them could order Viper around as an assassin. Viper would one day earn the title of Madame Hydra, and her actual standing within Hydra was even higher than Pierce's. She was unquestionably the leader of one faction.
What kind of branch manager could order a board director around? The logic did not add up.
Wary of Viper spitting poison, Daisy stood behind her and lightly stroked Viper's perfect spine with her fingers before asking again, "Who sent you to kill me?"
Viper felt awful. Being caressed on the back by another woman was only a minor discomfort. What really mattered was that she feared Daisy would shake her a few more times.
She carefully calculated who would be most suitable to dump this blame on.
As a woman who had climbed to the highest ranks in an organization like Hydra, she relied on her social finesse. She did not want to betray Pierce and the others.
A candidate soon came to mind. Pretending that she could no longer endure the "torture," she said dejectedly, "Maria Hill! She assigned me the mission to kill you."
Who? Daisy almost thought she had misheard. At first, she was stunned, but the next second she realized Viper was still trying to fool her. Although Hill
