Daisy and Lorna shared a complicated bond. They were family and friends, teacher and student, as well as companions who had grown up alongside each other.
There was no more room in Daisy's heart, and Lorna had no desire to interfere. She had her own pride.
They quickly tucked away these cherished feelings. It was not as though they were parting forever, never to return. Lorna had no plans to move out of the villa; they would have plenty of time to see each other.
The guests gradually entered the venue. Lorna accepted Captain America's invitation again and began her second dance, while Daisy automatically stepped aside.
Black Widow was mixing drinks nearby. When she saw Daisy approach, she gestured as if to ask whether she wanted one. Daisy casually ordered a drink and downed it in one gulp, suppressing the discomfort in her heart.
"Is the beautiful young Director troubled by something?" Black Widow asked casually.
"No." Daisy shook her head.
Black Widow chuckled. "I taught you your agent training. Though you became Director, I have to say, your ability to hide things is terrible."
Daisy paused and pondered for several seconds. "There's a small problem. I know my state of mind isn't right, but I don't know how to describe it."
She did not intend to describe her feelings directly. Looking at Lorna dancing gracefully in the center of the floor, she gathered her thoughts. "I just feel that Lorna grew up too fast. I still remember when Tony and I competed on the outskirts of New York, and the plane Lorna was on had an accident. I remember saving her. Back then, she was only this tall."
She gestured at Lorna's height back then, then shook her head with a soft laugh. "Subconsciously, I always thought Lorna
