A Visit

The bedroom was fairly quiet, but Daisy could hear the clamor downstairs.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s New York branch had originally been hidden inside an office building. When they stepped into the public eye, the twenty-story tower became S.H.I.E.L.D. property.

Countless agents were busy downstairs, while Daisy enjoyed her peace and quiet on the top floor.

"I looked into Wanda's thoughts, but why did you stop me, darling?" As she rested with her eyes closed, a pair of arms wrapped around her shoulders. She did not open her eyes and simply asked casually.

Hill had jumped in from the windowsill next door, with no intention of hiding her movements.

She wore pajamas and smelled lovely, probably having just taken a shower. Hill held Daisy by the shoulders, resting her chin on Daisy's shoulder as her nose twitched lightly, seemingly taking in her scent.

Hill pondered for several seconds. "Because of a premonition. I had a terrible feeling that you would leave me completely. That witch had a similar feeling, and Magik performed a similar divination, so we showed up..."

Accustomed to speaking with data, Hill hated relying on feelings most at work. She wanted everything in perfect order, able to withstand any logical scrutiny. Her willingness to trust intuition surprised Daisy.

"Is that so? I never considered giving you up. What did you see?"

"Deathly stillness. The entire world had no life to it, as if..." Hill did not quite know how to describe it. "As if no one could move anymore. They were all frozen where they stood. I can't explain it clearly. If you want the details, ask the witch!"

Daisy fell silent. Hill could not describe that vision clearly, but it was exactly what Wanda had seen through Chaos Magic.

"Don't think about it. I've given up on those ideas..."
