Magik's eyes instantly turned blood-red, and two horns began to form on her forehead. Drawing on her partial demon transformation, she drove back the enemy's probing.
But her counterattack had still fallen within the other side's calculations. The Blackbird could not withstand a magical explosion of that level; its control systems completely failed, and the jet tilted as it plunged toward the ground.
"I hate magic!" Lorna muttered. Rachel loudly agreed beside her, earning glares from Magik.
Lorna used magnetism to guide the plane slowly onto the ground. Everyone was a little dejected. They still had quite a way to go before reaching Madagascar, and they had only just entered Africa.
Magik could have teleported them there, but considering the other side's exquisite mastery of magic, she did not suggest it. Their use of magic was extraordinarily sophisticated, almost artistic. Magik did not think opening a portal right under their noses would end well for her.
Going back to New York would not help either. There was only one Blackbird, and with its interior damaged, it would not be able to fly again anytime soon.
