When Rachel threw her fourth punch, another rift opened in the air. Black Queen's enormous eye peered inside, as though she were looking down at an anthill.
Seeing her appear, Rachel shot upward like an arrow loosed from a bow, charging at Black Queen amid a thunderous roar.
What bullshit magic? Try taking one of my punches!
But after flying for several seconds, she realized something was wrong. At her speed, she should have left the box long ago, yet the distance between her and Black Queen had not changed at all.
"I hadn't noticed before, but there was a little bird that had flown from the nest. Magic is an art, and your way of breaking it is far too crude... How troublesome. I have to make another move myself. Your parents surely never taught you not to challenge a mage on a mage's own turf, did they?"
Black Queen lightly pointed a finger at Rachel. In the next instant, Rachel felt something block the connection between herself and Phoenix.
The connection remained, but it was like a traffic jam on a highway. No matter how good a driver she was, she could not get through. A mass of unknown matter had clogged the link between her and Phoenix.
If Rachel had been the host, she could have attacked from within and without, forcibly dispersing the matter. But she was only a false host. Jean was the true host, and Phoenix recognized only Jean. Rachel had strength but nowhere to use it, and could only slowly wear down the obstruction.
"You bitch! My dad won't let you get away with this!" Rachel spat a threat as Black Queen closed the "box."
