Background / History

Tang San was born on the Douluo Continent when the Asura God sent the soul of “Otherworld Tang San” into his newborn body. A future version of Tang San, calling himself the Sea God and Asura God, attempted to seize the body but was prevented from completing the possession. 40

The later Luo San account is revealed to have been engineered by Qian Xunyi. After finding the sole surviving infant at a massacre site, Qian Xunyi restored the child with the Zhe Character Secret, implanted Otherworld Tang San’s soul into him, and fabricated memories identifying him as Luo San, a survivor of the Luo Family supposedly destroyed by Tang Hao. Qian Xunyi adopted him as a godson and arranged for him to be raised in the Body Camp. 46 140

Tang Hao eventually recognized Tang San through his use of the Mysterious Heaven Skill. The two discovered that they had both been reborn with differing memories, then aligned their ambitions around Tang San inheriting the Asura Godhood and restoring the Tang Family’s power. 143 144

At his Martial Soul Awakening, Tang San inherited the Clear Sky Hammer but awakened a Scabby Giant Lizard rather than the Blue Silver Emperor he expected. He interpreted the abnormal Martial Soul as a possible Asura God trial and chose to continue using Yu Xiaogang for his connection to Bibi Dong. 302 303

Appearance

Before any anticipated Blue Silver Emperor transformation, Tang San is described as dark-skinned and physically misshapen, with a persistent foul odor that he unsuccessfully attempts to conceal with perfume and foundation. 143 145 306

Personality

Tang San is intensely calculating and treats relationships as strategic assets. He continues associating with Yu Xiaogang not out of respect, but because Yu Xiaogang’s bond with Bibi Dong may provide leverage against Spirit Hall. 145 303

He publicly maintains the appearance of a dutiful disciple while privately despising Yu Xiaogang. When his master becomes poisoned, Tang San secures the Datura Snake’s soul ring before treating him; later, after losing the Eight-Spider Lance, he cuts off Yu Xiaogang’s ear and demands that he retrieve it. 308 339 341

Tang San is confident that fate favors him as the Child of Destiny and successor chosen by the Asura God. He believes continental upheaval will ultimately create the conditions for him to become its savior. 331

His attachment to Xiao Wu is possessive and obsessive. He reacts with jealousy to her closeness with Da Ming and Yu Tianheng, while repeatedly trying to raise her favorability through gifts, labor, and apologies. 306 330 350

His divine ambitions are similarly exploitative. He plans to use descendants as vessels for godhood, divides his daughter Xiao Qi’s soul for his designs, and manipulates Sky Dream Ice Silkworm into abandoning Huo Yuhao in favor of Tang Wutong. 241 319 363

Even after being convicted before the God Realm Committee, Tang San remains defiant. He privately plans to exploit the future Temporal Turbulence, the Gold Dragon King’s escape, and Tang Wulin’s body to restore his political position. 360

Tang San also displays an increasingly authoritarian view of power. He orders Tang Hao to eliminate Ye Ming for attempting to form an independent Godhood, then claims Ye Ming’s body and bloodline origin as resources that should belong to the Tang Family. 371

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses two Martial Souls.

• Clear Sky Hammer — inherited from Tang Hao and proof of his Tang Family lineage. 302
• Scabby Giant Lizard — a poison- and earth-aligned beast Martial Soul that replaced the Blue Silver Emperor he expected to awaken. 302 308

Tang San’s first soul skill is gained from the Datura Snake.

Giant Lizard’s Fang

Tang San’s second soul skill comes from a 600-year swamp A-Xi.

• The skill’s passive effect gives him extremely foul breath, further worsening Xiao Wu’s opinion of him. 330

Divine Authority

As Sea God Tang San, he possesses the Sea Godhood and access to the Asura Godhood through Dual-God Unity.

• The Sea Godhood depends on faith and weakens when hostile rumors erode his believers’ confidence. 296
