Before the full Spiritual Energy Revival, isolated animals had already begun mutating: giant wolves massacred poachers, gray bears resisted large-caliber sniper fire, and venomous snakes evaded thermal imaging 19. Once spiritual energy fully resurged, mutations spread worldwide and created the first openly recognized Ferocious Beasts 27 37.

Su Qingxue warns that Ferocious Beasts possess a decisive physical advantage over humans of the same tier; three First-Order Martial Artists are normally required to barely kill one First-Order beast. In her previous life, humanity's final refuge fell to an Eighth-Tier Ferocious Beast while human martial artists had reached only the Seventh Tier 2.

The first major outbreak sees more than one hundred Beast Tides form worldwide, including seven directed at Dragon Country 37. Following the initial battles, Dragon Country shifts from static defense to systematic sweeps of mountain ranges and coastlines, both to prevent further evolution and to recover valuable beast materials 62.

Planetary Metamorphosis accelerates their growth further. Third- and Fourth-Tier beasts emerge in large numbers, while the East Sea becomes the staging area for an oceanic horde led from the shadows by a Fifth-Tier Beast Emperor 90 93 95.

Biology and Behavior

• Ferocious Beasts absorb spiritual energy, but their fastest method of advancement is devouring other mutated creatures and accumulating their flesh-and-blood energy 20.
• Their evolution follows an escalating food chain: weaker creatures are consumed by stronger ones, potentially force-feeding a predator into Beast King status within days 20 31.
• They are strongly attracted to heavenly treasures and spirit fruits. The fragrance of the Blood Abyss Bodhi drives nearby beasts into a frenzy, overriding fear and causing mass assaults 55 56.
• Their vitality is extreme; wounded beasts may continue charging unless their heads or hearts are destroyed 39.
• Most ordinary sea creatures cannot survive on land for longer than ten minutes because they lack amphibious lungs, though stronger Sea Beast Kings can direct them from deep water 59.
• High-tier beasts exert bloodline suppression over weaker ones. When the Giant King Squid dies, the surrounding Sea Beast Tide immediately loses cohesion and flees 59 61.

Beast Tides

More than one hundred Beast Tides are reported to erupt globally during the first large-scale outbreak. Dragon Country faces seven directly 37.

The Ironclad Mad Ape drives the Shu Capital horde forward through roars and overwhelming pressure, replacing the other beasts' fear with bloodthirsty frenzy 40. Later, a hidden Fifth-Tier Beast Emperor compels more than twenty Fourth-Tier sea beasts to remain in disciplined formation in the depths of the East Sea 95.

Known Ferocious Beasts

• Ironclad Mad Ape — Peak Second-Order Beast King of the Shu Capital Beast Tide; nearly ten meters tall, covered in dark scales, and resistant to armor-piercing rounds. Lin Yuan destroys its arm with a punch before killing it with a spear 32 37 42.
• Mutated Amur Tiger — Mid-Second-Tier leader of the Changbai Mountains Beast Tide 20 39.
• Mutated Forest Python — Mid-Second-Tier leader of the Lingnan Mountains Beast Tide 20.
• Giant King Squid — Third-Tier Middle Stage Sea Beast King that uses ordinary marine creatures as expendable forces to drain human ammunition; its death causes its tide to disperse 59 61.
• Mutated Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey — A Shennongjia beast that becomes Early Third Tier after consuming the Blood Abyss Bodhi and subsequently breaches the outer defensive line 53.
• Crimson-Armored Behemoth — Fourth-Tier Middle Stage beast with scales capable of resisting heavy artillery; Lin Yuan kills it with one spear strike 92 93.
• Thunderhorn Giant Crocodile — Fourth-Tier Late Stage Ferocious Beast slain by Lin Yuan at the South Sea defensive line 94.
• Thunder-Patterned Giant Tiger — Consumes the Nine-Leaf Nether Lotus and rises from an unspecified prior state through Early Third Tier and Third-Tier Middle Stage to Third-Tier Peak Stage 91.
• Mosasaur — Third-Tier Peak sea beast that devours Deep-Sea Blood Coral, develops claws and heavier armor, and evolves into the Fourth Tier 91.
• Fifth-Tier Beast Emperor — Unidentified deep-sea ruler whose pressure commands coordinated Fourth-Tier Ferocious Beasts during the East Sea crisis 95.

Conflict With Humanity

At the same tier, Ferocious Beasts are generally physically stronger than martial artists, making numerical cooperation necessary for ordinary human fighters 2. Conventional weapons remain effective against lower-tier hordes but are increasingly insufficient against Second-Tier beasts and above, especially in forests, mountains, or urban environments 37 41.

Dragon Country initially relies on artillery networks and defensive lines to force Beast Tides into open terrain. Military planners avoid indiscriminate mountain bombardment because surviving predators could consume the dead and rapidly replace any slain Beast King 32.

Following the Giant King Squid incident, the military adopts proactive extermination operations. Ferocious Beast bones and hides are used for weapons, while specially processed flesh and blood are used as cultivation supplements 62. Their corpses are also retained for research and medicinal production 63 93.
