Ch. 221Release

Sephiroth arrived in Elegia and learned that Uta’s dream world had trapped the kingdom’s people in a sleep that would become fatal if she ran out of stamina. With the Red Hair Pirates suppressing the Demon King of Song, he replenished Uta’s strength and hypnotized her into singing, causing the monster to vanish while she remained asleep.

  • Sephiroth discovered that the people within twelve kilometers of the Demon King of Song were unconscious and realized they were trapped in its dream world.
  • Sephiroth joined Shanks and warned him that the sleeping people would die if Uta exhausted herself and the Demon King disappeared.
  • Shanks ordered the Red Hair Pirates to attack the Demon King of Song and keep it from regenerating while Sephiroth reached Uta.
  • Sephiroth sent a bat clone through a Spatial Gate to Uta, replenished her stamina, and used her blood to read her memories and hypnotize her.
  • Hypnotized Uta began humming a song, and the Demon King of Song vanished from the real world as she fell asleep.

Ch. 222Entrustment

Sephiroth kept Uta after the Demon of Song’s rampage, believing her Sing-Sing Fruit was too dangerous to leave unsupervised. Shanks left Elegia Kingdom after agreeing to conceal the truth from Uta, who was told the Red Hair Pirates had betrayed her and was stopped when she tried to swim after them.

  • Sephiroth refused to return Uta to Shanks, explaining that her awakened Sing-Sing Fruit could trigger another catastrophe and that he would watch over her.
  • Shanks asked Sephiroth to care for Uta and conceal the truth, then agreed with Gordon to blame the disaster on the Red Hair Pirates so Uta would be protected.
  • Sephiroth found and deleted Video Den Den Mushi recordings of the events, then urged Gordon to lead relief efforts as Uta awoke.
  • Gordon told Uta that the Red Hair Pirates had used her singing to reach Elegia Kingdom and steal its treasure, while Shanks sailed away under fire from Marine warships.
  • Uta ran after the Red Force and tried to throw herself into the sea, but Sephiroth stopped her; she cried until she fell asleep.

Ch. 223Speechless

Sephiroth brought the sleeping Uta home, where Perona, Isca, and Kuina accepted her without needing an explanation, then returned to Elegia to handle the aftermath. Three days later, Sengoku learned from Rosinante that Doflamingo planned to seize the Op-Op Fruit, and they arranged an ambush against the Donquixote Family on Finch Island.

  • Sephiroth brought Uta to his villa, and Perona, Isca, and Kuina assumed she would be staying with them.
  • Sephiroth settled Uta into an empty bedroom and returned to the Elegia Kingdom to deal with the aftermath.
  • Sengoku and Garp reviewed reports about Elegia’s destruction and discussed Red-Haired Shanks’s role and new bounty.
  • Rosinante secretly contacted Sengoku and warned him that Doflamingo had learned about the Marine deal for the Op-Op Fruit.
  • Sengoku and Rosinante agreed to ambush the Donquixote Family on Finch Island three weeks later.

Ch. 224Op-Op Fruit

A mysterious attacker killed Diez Barrelus and his pirates and stole the Op-Op Fruit before Donquixote Rosinante arrived. Rosinante corrected his false report to Sengoku, while Doflamingo found the fruit gone and fled Minion Island as Vice Admiral Tsuru’s warships approached.

  • Diez Barrelus showed his pirates the Op-Op Fruit and boasted that it could fetch five billion Beli.
  • A black mist filled the villa, and an unknown attacker killed Barrelus and the pirates before taking the fruit; Diez Drake escaped after discovering his father was dead.
  • Donquixote Rosinante arrived, mistook a ship with a flamingo figurehead for proof that Doflamingo had taken the fruit, and reported his suspicion to Sengoku.
  • Rosinante asked Sengoku for help curing Law’s Lead Poisoning Disease, and Sengoku told him the Marines had Life Enhancement Agent that could treat it.
  • Rosinante admitted what he had actually seen, and Sengoku said he would notify Vice Admiral Tsuru and have her capture Doflamingo.
  • Doflamingo arrived at the villa, learned the Op-Op Fruit was gone and Tsuru’s warships were nearby, then led the Donquixote Family away from Minion Island.

Ch. 225Changing Perceptions

Sephiroth secured the Op-Op Fruit and considered using its Perennial Youth Operation to reduce the limits on his spatial travel. He continued shaping Yamato’s priorities while treating her injuries after another failed challenge against Kaido.

  • Sephiroth took the Op-Op Fruit from its box and considered whether the Perennial Youth Operation could replenish his life force, possibly through a robotic surgeon.
  • Sephiroth found Uta singing to Perona, Kuina, and Isca, then woke the four women for dinner after they fell asleep on the sofa.
  • Yamato hid in a warehouse attic after Kaido beat her again, and Sephiroth arrived with food and injected her with a Life Enhancement Potion.
  • Yamato said she wanted to defeat Kaido, free herself, open Wano Country’s borders, and repay the samurai who had helped her.
  • Sephiroth treated Yamato’s wounds and warned her not to risk dying, but Yamato remained eager to challenge Kaido again.

Ch. 226Resignation Application

Sengoku considered the World Government’s decision to make Doflamingo a Shichibukai while discussing Law’s recovery and Rosinante’s work. He then read Karl D. Sephiroth’s resignation application and decided to summon him for an explanation.

  • Sengoku read a newspaper report about Doflamingo becoming a Shichibukai and suspected he had made a secret deal with a Celestial Dragon.
  • Rosinante delivered documents and told Sengoku that Law’s Lead Poisoning Disease was improving after treatment with the Life Enhancement Potion.
  • Rosinante questioned whether the Marines’ efforts against Doflamingo had been wasted, and Sengoku explained that Doflamingo had been barred from rebuilding his influence in the North Blue.
  • Sengoku read Karl D. Sephiroth’s resignation application, which gave the reason, “The world is so big. I want to see it!”
  • Sengoku decided to call Sephiroth and ask why he wanted to resign.

Ch. 227Encounter

Sephiroth met Gion for lunch on Pollock Island and told her he planned to resign from the Marines, but Sengoku delayed his application. Steel Bone Kong then offered to let Sephiroth leave only if he surrendered Butcher Blade, leaving Sephiroth weighing whether to negotiate or defect.

  • Gion complained that Sephiroth never visited her, and he explained how busy he was while declining her invitation to stay overnight.
  • Sengoku called about Sephiroth's resignation application, tried to persuade him to remain in the Marines, and said he would not approve it yet.
  • Sephiroth told Gion he was leaving because the Marines were restrictive and he was tired of serving; she left the restaurant after hearing the news.
  • Doflamingo and Vergo arrived with the Donquixote Family while Sephiroth remained at the restaurant.
  • Steel Bone Kong told Sephiroth he could resign only if he handed over Butcher Blade, and Sephiroth considered negotiating rather than defecting impulsively.

Ch. 228You Have Conqueror's Haki Too?

Doflamingo hunted down Chuck and the Sabertooth Pirates to reclaim the Mammoth Fruit, but Kaido arrived and revealed that Chuck had just joined his crew. Doflamingo and Kaido clashed with Conqueror’s Haki, and after Doflamingo’s attack failed to injure Kaido, Kaido launched Thunder Bagua.

  • Doflamingo offered to help Sephiroth leave the Marines, but Sephiroth refused and left the restaurant.
  • Chuck planned to give Kaido the Mammoth Fruit in exchange for joining the Beasts Pirates, while Doflamingo’s officers began attacking the Sabertooth Pirates under his control.
  • Doflamingo and his officers stormed Chuck’s castle, where Doflamingo killed Chuck with his awakened String-String Fruit.
  • Kaido crashed down outside the castle and confronted Doflamingo, declaring that Chuck was his newly recruited underling.
  • Doflamingo and Kaido released their Conqueror’s Haki, then Doflamingo ordered his officers to attack Kaido and struck him with Godly Execution.
  • Kaido tore free of Doflamingo’s threads unharmed and launched Thunder Bagua at him.

Ch. 229Quarry

After Kaido defeated Doflamingo, he and the surviving Donquixote Family members were forced to toil in Udon Quarry. As Pica chose to join Kaido, Diamante began considering abandoning Doflamingo too, while Doflamingo clung to hopes of reclaiming his power.

  • Doflamingo and eight injured Family members struggled to haul stones in Udon Quarry while Sea Stone shackles weakened them.
  • Doflamingo recalled Kaido's overwhelming victory and the Family members who had surrendered after seeing the difference in their strength.
  • Pica blamed Doflamingo for denying him a Devil Fruit and announced that he would submit to Kaido; Doflamingo let him leave.
  • Doflamingo remembered why he had given the Mammoth Fruit to Vergo instead of Pica, then continued working and vowed to rise again.
  • Diamante watched Pica depart and considered joining the Beasts Pirates to regain his freedom, power, money, and status.

Ch. 230Ryou?

In Udon's quarry, Doflamingo learned about Ryou from Hyogoro while watching his subordinates lose faith in him. He chose to feign loyalty to Kaido, and the chapter ended with Kaido having Vivre Cards made to track the Donquixote Family officers.

  • Doflamingo exchanged his work vouchers for rice cakes and offered half his food to Hyogoro in return for an explanation of Ryou.
  • Hyogoro demonstrated how Ryou could strike a rock wall without touching it, and Doflamingo resolved to learn the technique.
  • Diamante decided to submit to Kaido, prompting Doflamingo to worry that his other officers would betray him and to plan a false surrender.
  • Doflamingo and the other eight Donquixote Family officers swore loyalty to Kaido at Onigashima.
  • Kaido ordered Queen to collect hair or nails from the nine officers and make Vivre Cards so the Beasts Pirates could track them.

Ch. 231Identity Exposed

Doflamingo recognized that Miyamoto Musashi was Marine Commodore Sephiroth and decided to expose him to Kaido. Sephiroth chose not to fight Doflamingo and the others, instead ordering a withdrawal from Wano Country while leaving some spies and loyalists behind.

  • Doflamingo spotted Sephiroth on the passing sailboat and realized his Miyamoto Musashi disguise concealed the Marine Commodore.
  • Doflamingo decided to tell Kaido Sephiroth's identity to gain Kaido's trust and move closer to independence.
  • Sephiroth sensed Doflamingo's hostility but held back from attacking after remembering Shyarly's prophecy.
  • Sephiroth opened a Spatial Gate to the Pleasure Quarter and ordered his lieutenants to gather their people, excluding several minor leaders and their men.
  • Sephiroth ordered the Miyamoto Family to assemble at Ebisu Village and prepared to withdraw from Wano Country.

Ch. 232Evacuation

Kaido ordered Kurozumi Orochi to kill the Marine spy Sephiroth after Doflamingo reported his suspected identity, while Sephiroth evacuated the Miyamoto Family’s subordinates and their relatives from Wano to Sky Island. The evacuation was underway when Sephiroth sensed eleven fast-moving presences approaching Ebisu Village.

  • Queen reported that Doflamingo had conscripted more than a thousand villagers from Mita Village, and Doflamingo proposed using Sugar’s Devil Fruit to turn Wano’s people into tireless laborers.
  • Doflamingo showed Kaido photographs linking Sephiroth to the Marine spy disguised as Miyamoto Musashi, and Kaido ordered Queen to tell Kurozumi Orochi to kill him.
  • Sephiroth opened a Spatial Gate at his estate in Ebisu Village and began evacuating his loyal subordinates and their families to Sky Island.
  • Gan Fall brought livestock to Angel Island so Sephiroth could absorb their life force and keep the Spatial Gate open long enough for thousands of people to pass through.
  • Sephiroth sensed eleven rapidly moving presences heading toward Ebisu Village.

Ch. 233Come with Me!

Sephiroth drove the Orochi Oniwabanshu away from Ebisu Village and escaped Kaido’s attack after the villagers reached the Sky Island. He then found Yamato on Onigashima, broke her explosive shackles, and opened a gate to take her to Angel Island.

  • Sephiroth attacked the Orochi Oniwabanshu with fiery sword techniques, forcing them to retreat from Ebisu Village.
  • Kaido arrived in dragon form and attacked Sephiroth, who countered his Heat Breath and evaded his assault after everyone had evacuated through the Spatial Gate.
  • Kaido vaporized the residence with another Heat Breath, believed Sephiroth was dead, and flew back toward Onigashima.
  • Sephiroth found Yamato practicing Observation Haki and broke her shackles, which exploded after he threw them into the forest.
  • Yamato cursed Kaido and agreed to leave with Sephiroth, who opened a Spatial Gate to Angel Island and watched her rush through.

Ch. 234Weighing the Options

Sephiroth brought Yamato to Sky Island, where he revealed that Miyamoto Musashi was an alias and explained his revenge-driven infiltration of Wano Country. Yamato left to see the Golden Bell, while Sephiroth, Black Maria, and Kozuki Hiyori bathed together before Yamato returned and joined them.

  • Sephiroth brought Yamato, Black Maria, and Kozuki Hiyori to his villa after arranging aid for the people relocated from Wano Country.
  • Sephiroth warned Yamato about the dangers of riding a Waver and offered her a place to stay at the villa.
  • Sephiroth revealed his real name and explained that he had infiltrated Wano Country to take revenge on Kaido after the Beast Pirates killed his family.
  • Yamato heard the Golden Bell toll and ran to see it, while Sephiroth told his subordinates not to stop her.
  • Black Maria and Kozuki Hiyori joined Sephiroth in the bath, and Yamato returned and asked him to wash her too.

Ch. 235Sparring

Kuina defeated Isca in a sparring match, and Isca twisted her ankle when she fell. Sephiroth treated her injuries with Life Reversal, then agreed to give her an injection for another condition she reported.

  • Isca attacked first, but Kuina used her Observation Haki to anticipate her moves and gain the advantage.
  • Isca fell after stepping on a stone and twisted her ankle, so Sephiroth treated it with Life Reversal.
  • Isca asked Sephiroth to treat her sore tailbone in her bedroom, and his treatment relieved the pain.
  • Isca then asked Sephiroth to treat an area below her lower abdomen, and he decided she needed an injection.
  • Sephiroth inserted the needle while Isca braced herself for the pain.

Ch. 236Vaflorode

Sephiroth found Vaflorode, the island where the Breath of the Gods was buried, but its defenses destroyed his attempts to approach. He redirected the G-5 Branch warship toward Beasts Pirates territory and decided to train his Observation Haki so he could teleport past the island’s warning range.

  • Sephiroth arrived aboard the G-5 Branch warship and identified the drifting island as Vaflorode, where the Breath of the Gods was buried and World Government ships kept watch.
  • When the Breath of the Gods triggered storms and whirlpools as the warship neared Vaflorode, Sephiroth ordered the ship to turn away and changed its target to Hanasu Island in Beasts Pirates territory.
  • Sephiroth sent a Crimson Bat through a Spatial Gate toward Vaflorode, but a lightning bolt killed it before it could reach the island.
  • Sephiroth controlled a Black Bat toward Vaflorode, but lightning and a Knock-Up Stream destroyed it as the island’s defenses blocked its approach.
  • Sephiroth concluded that he needed to extend his Observation Haki’s range so he could teleport directly past the Breath of the Gods’ warning range.

Ch. 237Monet and Sugar

On Hanasu Island, Sugar was forced to turn hundreds of slave miners into toys while Monet pleaded with Queen to let her rest. When a Marine G-5 warship attacked the Beasts Pirates’ work site, Queen transformed into his Brachiosaurus form and went to meet it.

  • Sugar turned hundreds of slave miners into metal toys, and Monet asked Queen to let her younger sister rest.
  • Queen refused to show sympathy, citing the more than a thousand people still waiting to be transformed.
  • A Marine warship opened fire on Hanasu Island, scattering the miners and alarming the Beasts Pirates.
  • A lookout identified the attackers as Marines from G-5, and Queen ordered his men to prepare a counterattack.
  • Queen transformed into a Brachiosaurus man and headed to the shore, where he saw the warship.

Ch. 238Landing

Sephiroth destroyed five Beasts Pirates ships and confronted Queen, severely wounding him before Queen counterattacked with lasers. The battle between them remained unresolved as Queen fired at Sephiroth.

  • Sephiroth ordered Frank to bombard Hanasu Island's buildings, then used a wall of fire to stop a salvo from five Beasts Pirates ships.
  • Sephiroth cut through all five ships with one sword slash and spotted Queen among the pirates.
  • Sephiroth opened a gateway to Hanasu Island, knocked out Queen's followers with Conqueror's Haki, and attacked Queen with Two-Sword Style: Ghost Flash.
  • Queen's special-alloy endoskeleton and Ancient Zoan regeneration kept Sephiroth's strike from seriously injuring him, despite leaving a deep wound.
  • Queen activated laser emitters in his tail, braid, arm, and eyes and fired explosive beams at Sephiroth.

Ch. 239Watch Me Beat You Flat!

Sephiroth killed Queen after overcoming his alloy defenses with a massive, Haki-infused assault. Afterward, he found Monet and Sugar hiding nearby, and Sugar rushed to him, believing the Marines had come to rescue them.

  • Sephiroth evaded Queen’s relentless laser barrage and discovered that his blades could barely penetrate Queen’s alloy skeleton.
  • Sephiroth cut off Queen’s genitals, enraging him, then transformed into a towering, muscle-bound form to fight with his fists.
  • Sephiroth pinned Queen down and pummeled him, unleashing Conqueror’s Haki in a final blow that killed him.
  • Sephiroth emerged from the crater, restored his clothes with his Devil Fruit ability, and spotted Monet and Sugar trying to sneak away.
  • Sugar ran to Sephiroth, cried that the Marines had arrived to save them, and touched his pant leg.
