Lu Ze stood atop a very high cliff, but he hadn't seen the Pokémon he had been looking for.
Tyranitar.
Or rather, Larvitar.
His second team was still one Pokémon short.
It would have been nice if he had run into a Larvitar here.
After all, Tyranitar, Larvitar's final evolution, fit Lu Ze's tastes perfectly.
For Larvitar's sake, Lu Ze had split off from Ash and the others when they entered this wasteland.
Ash and the others continued on foot, while Lu Ze had Crobat carry him around in search of Larvitar.
Unfortunately, while this was a wasteland, it was not a desert. After searching all around, he still hadn't found any sign of Larvitar.

After helplessly shaking his head, Lu Ze prepared to head back and find Ash's group.
Meanwhile, Ash had already followed a Spoink into an oasis.

Pointing at the bandage on its head, it angrily spoke to Clemont and the others.
Its meaning was obvious: that Spoink had caused its injuries.
