Five nights later.
"Xia Yan, I'm hungry." Ono blinked her bright eyes.
Even by the campfire, nothing could obscure the purity in her eyes.
"Almost done."
Xia Yan nodded as he turned over the meat roasting in his hands.
He looked at the girl sitting beside him, fiddling with a Poké Ball in her hand and staring fixedly at the sizzling meat over the fire, as if she wished she could take a bite right then.
After Xia Yan's repeated insistence, Ono had washed away the grime on her body, tied up her hair, and changed into clean but obviously oversized men's clothes. She no longer resembled the disheveled wild child she had been before.
Looking at her now, she finally resembled the fourteen- or fifteen-year-old girl she should have been.
It had to be admitted.
Aside from her exceptionally bright eyes and healthy wheat-colored skin, Ono had the features and contours to grow into a beauty.
These past few days, she had followed Xia Yan everywhere with Kommo-o.
She helped with battles while asking Xia Yan questions that were common knowledge to him.
Xia Yan did not keep anything from her. Like a teacher instructing a student, he answered everything he knew.
Ono had learned a great deal.
For example, she had learned of the existence and purpose of Poké Balls, that Awu's true name was Kommo-o, that the bad guy was called Hydreigon, and so on.
Their relationship had also grown much closer than before.
Ono was innocent, but she was not a blank slate.
It was simply because she had lived in an environment populated only by Pokémon. Her personality resembled that of most wild Pokémon—straightforward and direct, without all the twists and turns.
Xia Yan found talking with her rather relaxing.
And through their conversations, Xia
