History

Spirit Hall was founded by the Qian Clan, whose lineage is said to descend from the Angel God. Its Angel Martial Soul line historically supplied the institution’s leadership, and its archives preserve extensive records of Soul Master history and cultivation knowledge. Qian Daoliu states that he studied these records from childhood as part of the Qian Clan’s responsibility for Spirit Hall’s history. 4

Before Spirit Hall’s establishment, Martial Soul awakening was reportedly controlled by nobles, who could restrict commoners’ access to cultivation. Spirit Hall is credited with allowing commoners to awaken Martial Souls, enter its academies, and receive comparatively fair treatment regardless of background. It also provides Soul Master subsidies. 70

By the beginning of the Sky Screen events, Spirit Hall is the continent’s strongest major faction. It maintains close ties with the Lower Four Sects and is said to command seventy percent of Douluo Continent’s Soul Masters. 2

Succession dispute

The Qian Clan’s control became controversial after Bibi Dong, whose Spider Martial Soul is unrelated to the Angel lineage, succeeded former Supreme Pontiff Qian Xunji. Rumors describe Spirit Hall as divided between a Qian Clan faction and Bibi Dong’s supporters; Qian Daoliu’s decision to allow her succession is linked to his belief that Spirit Hall had wronged her. 3 4

The Sky Screen’s revelations concerning Bibi Dong and Yu Xiaogang severely damage Spirit Hall’s reputation. The Offering Hall, led by its Titled Douluo, resolves to remove Bibi Dong and first secure public support for the decision. 17 21

Escalating threats

The projected Abyss invasion forces Spirit Hall to reconsider its political priorities. When the Star Luo Empire seeks cooperation, Spirit Hall agrees to an anti-Abyss alliance but insists that the Heaven Dou Empire be included as well. 48

Spirit Hall later faces additional instability when the Sky Screen reveals Demon Bear Douluo’s future defection to the Abyss. Qian Daoliu forces him to swear loyalty to Spirit Hall and the Qian Clan. 51 52

Long Ying’s appearance further exposes a concealed failure within the Qian Clan: as Qian Yu, he had been abandoned by Spirit Hall because of his Fallen Angel Martial Soul and now seeks revenge against both the Angel Clan and Spirit Hall. 1 97

Organization and Influence

Policies and Public Reputation

Spirit Hall’s traditional ideal is described as peaceful development: avoid unnecessary enemies and recruit talented people willingly. Its role in awakening Martial Souls for commoners and educating them through its academies gives it substantial support among ordinary Soul Masters. 23 70

Bibi Dong’s administration is blamed for shifting this approach toward coercion. Her policy of treating unaffiliated Soul Masters as illegal, alongside allegations that talented commoners who refused recruitment died in suspicious “accidents,” creates hostility among independent geniuses and rival factions. 14 23

Despite this, many commoners still view Spirit Hall as preferable to rule by the Two Empires and noble houses. They credit it with offering subsidies, cultivation opportunities, and a degree of fairness unavailable under aristocratic systems. 70
