Background
Qian Daoliu leads the Qian Clan, Spirit Hall's Angel Martial Soul bloodline. The clan is descended from the Angel God, and Qian Daoliu has studied Spirit Hall's historical records since childhood as part of his responsibility to preserve its history. He is also regarded as one of the three Ultimate Douluo of his era, alongside Tang Chen and Bo Saixi. 4 124 131
He previously allowed Bibi Dong to become Spirit Hall's Supreme Pontiff because he believed the Qian Clan owed her after Qian Xunji defiled his own disciple. Qian Daoliu concealed the incident, fearing that its exposure would irreparably damage both Spirit Hall and the Angel Clan's reputation. 4 10 137
His greatest concealed failing concerns his grandson Qian Yu. Viewing the boy's Fallen Angel Martial Soul as a disgrace to the light-aligned Angel Clan, Qian Daoliu handed him to Bibi Dong despite knowing he would be abused, prevented Qian Renxue from helping him, and did not stop him from fleeing Spirit Hall at age six. Qian Yu later became Long Ying. 1 97 98
Appearance
Qian Daoliu initially maintains the youthful appearance expected of an Ultimate Douluo, with golden hair and a handsome, young-looking face. Following the conflict over Bibi Dong's fate and his regret over Qian Yu, his hair and beard turn white, leaving him visibly aged and exhausted. 115 122
- Golden-haired and youthful in appearance before his emotional decline. 124
- Later develops white hair and a white beard. 115
- Wields the Angel Sacred Sword in battle. 24
Personality
Qian Daoliu is widely known among the older generation as a man who values his word and personal honor. He places great weight on oaths, even when this leaves him isolated from the other Offering Douluo; most notably, he refuses to kill Demon Bear Douluo after forcing him to swear loyalty to Spirit Hall and the Qian Clan. 6 52 86
His devotion to family is centered on Qian Renxue, whom he treats as the Qian Clan's final hope of inheriting the Angel God Position. He repeatedly fears for her safety in the Sky Screen's future visions and threatens Demon Bear Douluo when he endangers her. 57 79 80
However, his sense of duty is compromised by secrecy, hesitation, and religious prejudice. His refusal to reveal Qian Renxue's parentage, prolonged tolerance of Bibi Dong, and abandonment of Qian Yu repeatedly draw criticism from his allies. By later chapters, he openly accepts responsibility for failing both Bibi Dong and Qian Yu. 4 97 115 137
