Several days later, Ohara Island.
Lin Ye stepped off the merchant ship and looked at the island that would one day be erased from the map.
The most eye-catching sight was naturally the enormous tree that covered nearly a third of the island.
"That is the Tree of Knowledge, sir!"
After disembarking, the merchant captain, Alichi, noticed Lin Ye looking at the Tree of Knowledge and explained.
"They say the Tree of Knowledge is the largest library in the West Blue and a place countless scholars yearn for. Of course, although this place is known as the Island of Scholars, historians are actually the most famous people here."
Alichi clearly came here often and was very familiar with Ohara.
"Mm."
Lin Ye nodded and looked toward the town by Ohara's harbor. His powerful Observation Haki spread out in an instant, completely enveloping the entire island.
"Looks like the time is about right."
Lin Ye murmured softly.
He had already found Nico Robin. She was currently arguing with Professor Clover in the library.
Although Observation Haki could not tell what the two were arguing about.
This already meant that Nico Robin had passed the doctoral examination and officially become a historian.
"You should leave. It would be best not to come here for a while."
Lin Ye turned to look at the merchant captain, Alichi.
Alichi's expression changed at those words, but he did not ask why.
Since such a powerful man had said so, it was best to listen.
"Understood. Then, sir, this is your payment."
As he spoke, Alichi took off the small bag on his back and opened it. It was packed full of money—Beli.
Lin Ye took out a stack and looked at Alichi.
"I'll use the rest to buy a Log Pose."
Alichi froze. "Sir, where would you like the Log Pose to point?"
"The Red Line, or rather, Reverse Mountain."
Lin Ye thought for a moment before answering.
"Well, the Red Line covers too wide an area. As for Reverse Mountain, it does not have a Log Pose itself, but the islands leading into Reverse Mountain do have them."
"That will do."
Lin Ye was still far too unclear on this world's geography.
After all, there were simply too many islands in this world. Lin Ye had never intended to spend the effort memorizing so many of them.
"Very well, sir. Please wait a moment. I'll go ask the other merchant ships. Someone should have a Log Pose for that route!"
With that, Alichi turned and left.
Lin Ye headed straight for the tavern by the docks.
The tavern here was specifically for sailors staying on the island, yet even so, it was quiet.
It seemed to have been influenced by the academic atmosphere here as well.
Alichi moved quickly.
Before long, a Log Pose was delivered into Lin Ye's hands.
"To reach the final destination with this Log Pose, you will probably need to pass through more than a dozen islands."
Alichi explained.
"Got it."
After putting away the Log Pose, Lin Ye rose to his feet. He glanced at Alichi and left the tavern.
"Sir, do you need me to wait for you here?"
Seeing Lin Ye leave, Alichi asked.
Lin Ye did not answer. With his back to him, he waved a hand and walked straight into Ohara's town.
Watching Lin Ye's figure disappear, Alichi felt somewhat disappointed.
In the end, he had not gotten the chance to learn that man's name. It would have been something to brag about in the future.
When he grew old, telling that story would surely earn him even more respect.
With that thought, Alichi dejectedly headed back toward the merchant ship.
He followed Lin Ye's instructions strictly. After quickly dealing with the cargo, he left at once.
He did not even load any of Ohara's goods.
Since that man had said it, there had to be a reason.
After spending so long at sea, Alichi knew how to take advice.
In the town, Lin Ye sensed Alichi's merchant ship leaving through his Observation Haki and revealed a faint smile.
It had merely been a casual remark.
As for Ohara, he had no intention of saving it, and he could not save it anyway.
After all, he was alone. There was no way he could protect the entire island, and there was nothing in it for him.
By his calculations, Sakazuki and Kuzan would arrive within a month at most to carry out the Buster Call.
The historians of this island had touched the World Government's sore spot.
Even if he blocked the Buster Call this time, he could not stay here forever.
Once he left, the Buster Call would likely come again.
As for becoming these historians' babysitter?
He had no interest in the Poneglyphs.
After finding a house and paying the rent, Lin Ye settled in and waited for time to pass.
Nico Robin was very unhappy.
She had clearly passed the examination with full marks and become a true historian, yet Professor Clover had forbidden her from deciphering the Poneglyphs.
That left Nico Robin deeply disappointed.
Professor Clover naturally did this because he was worried that researching the Poneglyphs would bring trouble upon Robin.
Yet he seemed to have forgotten that he himself was playing with fire.
Lin Ye's Observation Haki detected all of this. He even sensed the Giant Saul drifting ashore at the edge of the island.
Lin Ye did not interfere as Nico Robin and Saul met again.
Several days later, Saul's strange laughter abruptly stopped. He looked at Nico Robin, his face filled with alarm.
"Your mother is Nico Olvia?"
"Yes. Saul, do you know my mother? She went out to sea when I was two years old and never came back."
Nico Robin looked somewhat downcast.
Saul fell silent.
He had once been a Vice Admiral at Marine Headquarters. It was because of Olvia that he had been wanted by the Marines and ended up stranded here.
The World Government considered historians searching for the truth of history dangerous and was carrying out widespread arrests.
Everything arrived as expected.
Robin's mother had returned.
Right behind her came agents from the World Government's Cipher Pol.
Lin Ye sat atop a large tree, watching the historians being driven by Cipher Pol agents into the plaza outside the Tree of Knowledge. He also saw Olvia, who had gone alone to hold off the Cipher Pol agents, being brought back by them.
With his Observation Haki covering the entire island and the nearby seas, Lin Ye also discovered more than a dozen warships blockading the surrounding waters.
He also sensed two particularly powerful presences among them.
Kuzan and Sakazuki.
The Vice Admirals of Marine Headquarters carrying out the Ohara Buster Call.
On the grass before the Tree of Knowledge, Professor Clover requested to speak with the Five Elders. After a gunshot rang out, World Government official Spandine pressed the button on the Golden Transponder Snail that symbolized the Buster Call.
The bombardment began.
Robin reunited with her mother. Olvia entrusted Robin to Saul, certain that he would find her, and Saul took Robin to escape.
But when Robin said she was a historian, Spandine stopped her from boarding the evacuation ship.
Saul also encountered the Vice Admiral of Marine Headquarters, Kuzan, who was also his friend.
Coldly watching it all, Lin Ye pushed off from the tree beneath his feet and shot into the sky. His right hand gripped Enma's hilt, his gaze locking onto a warship.
Whoosh!
Two Types of Haki wrapped around his arm.
The terrifying presence made Kuzan, who was speaking with Saul, and Sakazuki, who was preparing to sink the evacuation ship, both whip their heads around.
