Garp directly dropped another bombshell. The Marine soldiers watching from the sidelines nearly lost their composure when they heard it.

Even in the tiny East Blue, they had heard of those legendary fruits. Supposedly, eating a Devil Fruit granted someone demonic power—control over natural forces, animal transformations, and more. Their combat power was terrifying; a single strike destroying a small island was entirely possible.

What was Mu Chen even thinking? He had turned Garp down three times in a row. The Marine soldiers could not understand it at all. Was something wrong with their superior's head?

To be honest, Mu Chen did not care about Devil Fruits at all. He knew that in the early days of the Pirate World, Devil Fruit abilities were practically overpowered, especially Logias, which were immune to all physical attacks.

But by the middle and later stages, that old man Oda realized Devil Fruits were a bug, so he introduced Haki. By the later stages, the power scaling had completely fallen apart. What happened to Logia Devil Fruits being immune to physical attacks?

Once someone learned Armament Haki, they could still beat the hell out of you.

Besides, eating a Devil Fruit always came with a weakness: seawater and Seastone. So forget it. Mu Chen had a system; he had no need for a Devil Fruit. And if he did eat one, which one would he even choose?

At that moment, Garp rolled up his sleeves. He was starting to get annoyed. Without another word, he grabbed Mu Chen by the arm and dragged him outside. "You're going whether you want to or not!"

"Damn it, Vice Admiral Garp, you're forcing me! I'm not going!"

Mu Chen could not figure out why this old bastard Garp had taken such a liking to him that he insisted on taking him to Marine Headquarters.

Mu Chen immediately panicked, and the system prompt sounded at that moment: "Slacking interrupted. Timer paused!"

Hearing the system's voice, Mu Chen instantly became agitated. When he checked, he found that it had been interrupted at fifty-nine minutes and thirty seconds. He had only been thirty seconds away!

"Daily Slacking check-in requires at least sixty minutes. Otherwise, double Slacking Points will be deducted."

"Hey, Vice Admiral Garp, let go of me!"

In his agitation, Mu Chen's eyes unconsciously turned blood-red, and a single tomoe shape could clearly be seen within his crimson pupils.

Also, the Sharingan in the Pirate World had abilities similar to Observation Haki, such as sensing an opponent's attacks. That was pretty good too.

Not to mention that the Mangekyou Sharingan could even activate Susanoo, making its combat power even more formidable.

Garp's tone was strangely excited, but also somewhat stern. Mu Chen was dumbfounded.

Only one second had passed, yet Garp had already recovered. Mu Chen did not even know what to say. A Marine hero truly did not earn that title for nothing.

"Uh, it was nothing. Just a little trick of words."

Mu Chen shrugged. He did not hide anything and answered casually.

After all, in this situation, Mu Chen was fish on the chopping block. There was nothing to hide. He could not beat Garp, nor could he leave. What sin had he committed to deserve this?

Although Garp was unreliable in the way he did things, Mu Chen still admired him greatly as a person.

Garp did not seem to care much about Genjutsu.
