Hahahahaha! Good kid, good kid! I knew I hadn't misjudged you! Hahahaha!
Garp burst into laughter again. To think he had discovered a talent like Mu Chen in the tiny East Blue—he felt like he had struck gold. And Mu Chen possessed an ability called Genjutsu, something he had never even heard of.
Faced with Garp's sudden laughter, Mu Chen felt like he was starting to get used to it. "Let's go, let's go! Hurry up and move! No matter what, I'm taking you with me!"
With that, Garp directly hoisted Mu Chen, a man nearly six foot three, over his shoulder. Mu Chen was speechless. Damn, why did he suddenly feel like he had become a grandson? Hadn't young Luffy and Ace been carried around on this old man's shoulders just like this?
But Garp was still middle-aged now. It seemed a little early for him to be acting like a grandpa.
"Garp, old man, put me down! This is a Navy Base, after all. Don't I have any dignity?"
"Kid, am I really that old?"
"I'm in the prime of my life."
Garp spoke irritably. Mu Chen had just said it out of habit; after all, in his mind, Garp had always been an old man.
By then, Garp was already carrying Mu Chen outside. The passing Navy soldiers all looked as if they had witnessed some major news, whispering among themselves.
"Isn't that the Slacking Major General? Why is Vice Admiral Garp carrying him on his shoulder?"
"Oh? Could it be that Vice Admiral Garp caught our Slacking Major slacking off and is taking him out to teach him a lesson?"
"Hahaha, I don't think you're right. No matter how you look at it, that doesn't seem like a lesson."
The many Navy soldiers chatted in low voices, but Mu Chen could still hear them clearly. Lying on Garp's shoulder, he felt extremely awkward. Damn, he felt like some innocent young girl who had been kidnapped. "Put me down if you can! This is humiliating!"
"Hahaha, humiliating?"
"What's so humiliating about it?"
Garp, with his thick nerves, did not feel that anything was wrong at all. He had never known what embarrassment was.
Mu Chen took one look and thought, as expected of Luffy's grandfather. They really had been cut from the same mold.
In the end, Garp carried Mu Chen all the way to the harbor. A massive Dog-Head Battleship was docked there, far beyond anything the little warships of the East Blue could compare to. Its prow even bore a dog's head, a symbol of Garp's identity. Garp looked like a child waiting to be praised, and his expression was almost comical.
"Mu Chen, what do you think? This is my warship. Isn't it Haki?"
"Haki!"
"Haki!"
"Wonderful. Could you put me down first? We're already at the harbor, and the warship is right in front of us." Yet Garp still did not put him down. "Oh, right, right, right. I almost forgot."
Mu Chen thought Garp was finally about to set him down, but in the next instant—
"Off you go!"
Garp suddenly grabbed Mu Chen and tossed him like a sack of sand. Mu Chen traced a perfect arc through the air, while Garp followed with a huge leap. After bounding twice through the air, Mu Chen slammed heavily onto the deck!
Mu Chen had actually been thrown onto the warship by that old bastard Garp!
"Garp, you bastard!"
"Hahaha, Mu Chen, you called me 'uncle'?"
"I'm not that old—uh, isn't that the wrong generation?"
Garp completely failed to catch the insult in Mu Chen's words.
Why did this scene feel so familiar to Mu Chen? It was like he had seen it somewhere before.
Right, Luffy! Throwing people around like sacks of meat was hereditary, damn it!
Mu Chen could finally understand what it felt like to be one of Luffy's crewmates!
"Set sail for Marine Headquarters!"
"Mu Chen, I haven't asked you yet. What's with those eyes of yours? And what exactly is that Genjutsu?"
"Devil Fruit!"
Garp directly moved a beach recliner beside Mu Chen and lay down on it. He took out a senbei cracker, and with a crisp snap, Mu Chen suddenly felt the urge to punch him.
Without another word, Mu Chen got up and snatched several senbei crackers from Garp's hand.
"Ahhh, my senbei!"
Mu Chen ignored Garp completely. Seeing Garp's lifeless expression, Mu Chen suddenly felt a little satisfied.
"Hm?"
"Devil Fruit? I'm not a Devil Fruit user. As for these eyes of mine... it's troublesome to explain. Just think of them as a family inheritance. They're called the Blood Spirit Eye." He was really treating himself like an Uchiha, even claiming it was hereditary. Mu Chen found himself somewhat amused.
As for the Sharingan, Mu Chen really did not want to explain it too clearly. It was too troublesome.
These eyes had only just awakened. For now, they only allowed him to use Genjutsu, along with abilities somewhat similar to Observation Haki.
It was nothing much, really.
Mu Chen spoke casually, not forgetting to take a bite of Garp's senbei.
Since there was no chakra in the Pirate World, the Sharingan had lost its ability to see the flow of chakra. Naturally, it had become an ability roughly similar to Observation Haki.
And using the Blood Sharingan had changed from consuming chakra to consuming physical stamina.
"Oh? An ability somewhat similar to Observation Haki?"
"That really is rare."
Garp fell into thought. As for Genjutsu, he could feel its effects firsthand. When he had been caught in it, he had felt as though his mind and thoughts had both been controlled. Though it had only lasted a brief second, the scene in his mind had been terrifying.
Garp had felt as though he had fallen into an enormous pool of blood, unable to move. Although he was a Vice Admiral, his strength surpassed that of an Admiral. Otherwise, he would never have chased Pirate King Roger around the world. Yet even someone as strong as him could be controlled if he was careless. Still, Garp had been curious about that kind of Genjutsu at the time, so he had not broken free immediately.
