The power of his Rinnegan reacted instantly, forming an invisible barrier that kept the Dark-Dark Fruit's power at bay.
Mu Chen opened his eyes, a knowing smile curling his lips. "So that's it," he said softly. "The Dark-Dark Fruit really can devour Devil Fruit powers, but it can't devour power that doesn't belong to this world."
Teach's expression changed. He hadn't heard what Mu Chen was saying at all.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing."
Mu Chen shook his head, his gaze suddenly sharpening. "Now it's my turn!"
The next second, a dazzling red light burst from Mu Chen's eyes. His original pupils vanished, replaced by rings of rotating light.
The strange sight of Mu Chen's eyes frightened Teach, too.
"What is that?"
Van Augur instinctively took a step back and pulled the trigger. The bullet whistled toward Mu Chen, only to stop abruptly a meter from him before exploding into powder with a bang.
"I don't really like using these eyes. But you're asking for a beating."

But to Teach, Mu Chen's expression and tone were utterly terrifying. He had never felt this kind of oppressive presence even from Whitebeard.
He felt an unprecedented fear rising from the depths of his heart, as though he were facing not a man, but a god from hell.
He instinctively tried to retreat, only to find that he couldn't move at all, as though invisible chains had bound him tight.
