Background / History

The Snake-People Tribe resides in a Holy City deep within the Tagor Desert. Medusa recognized Mo Yun's Azure Snake Three-Blossom Pupil as evidence of Snake-People blood and brought him into the tribe despite his human appearance; the Four Great Elders subsequently accepted him as a tribesman after he pledged loyalty. 11 12

The tribe's constitution is Yin-leaning, making the scorching Tagor Desert harmful to both its members' health and cultivation. Sparse vegetation, few medicinal herbs, and a limited Magical Beast population further restrict the tribe's recovery and development. 26

The tribe depends on trade with human merchants for supplies unavailable in the desert, but its conspicuous snake tails and poor dealings with outsiders leave it vulnerable to exploitative prices. After Mo Yun took responsibility for external transactions, the tribe's income increased by 50 percent. 26

Territory

Holy City

The tribe's settlement is a stone-built city in the desert center. Its architecture is predominantly stone, with rocks prominently displayed throughout the city. 11

Organization

Medusa Queen

Medusa is the tribe’s queen and foremost combat authority. Although stronger than the elders in direct power, she remains subject to their institutional authority and counsel. 12 23

The Medusa bloodline allows its bearers to reach the peak of Dou Huang quickly, but breaking through to Dou Zong is exceptionally difficult. Medusa’s attempt to overcome this limitation through Strange Fire evolution was motivated by both personal ambition and the need to secure a viable homeland for the tribe. 22 23

Four Great Elders

The Great Elder, Second Elder, Third Elder, and Fourth Elder oversee the tribe’s major decisions, inheritance, and resources. They recognized Mo Yun’s mixed heritage, arranged his admission, and later directed the refinement of the tribe’s inherited medicine. 12 24 37

• Great Elder — principal decision-maker; intervened to stop Mo Bas from attacking Mo Yun and led the refinement of the Nine Mysterious Heavenly Snake Paste. 25 36 38

Eight Major Tribes

The Snake-People are divided into eight major tribes, each led by a powerful Snake-Person leader. Their leaders contribute ancestral snake materials to collective rites. 11 34 37

Known tribes include:

• Charm Snake Tribe — Yue Ya’s tribe; associated with the Red Horn Pink Python. 11 37
• Mo Snake Tribe — led by Mo Bas; uses the black-python totem and is associated with the Yue Xi Black Python. 34 36
• Yin Snake Tribe — led by Yin Shi. 34 37
• Flame Snake Tribe — contributed material to the Eight Mysterious Heavenly Snake Paste. 37
• Poison Snake Tribe — contributed material to the Eight Mysterious Heavenly Snake Paste. 37

Society and Culture

Snake-People commonly possess human upper bodies and snake tails. Their tails make them visually conspicuous in dealings with humans and contribute to the discrimination they face in trade. 11 26

The tribe considers descendants of Snake-People and humans to be members of the tribe if they carry Snake-People blood. The Azure Snake Three-Blossom Pupil is an extremely rare mutation of this mixed bloodline, viewed as an ancestral awakening rather than merely an eye trait. 12 25

The tribe reveres its ancestral snakes and preserves materials connected to them. These materials—including scales, venom sacs, skin, fangs, eyes, and other remains—are used in inherited refining practices. 37

Military

Medusa Queen’s Personal Guards

Medusa’s personal guards protect the Medusa Temple. Most are peak Great Dou Shi experts, distinguished by their unusual uniforms and disciplined posture. 11

• Hua She Er commands the guards and is among the tribe’s strongest female warriors. She has reached the Dou Wang realm and frequently trains or assists Mo Yun. 11 12
• Qiang En is a guard assigned to the Holy City’s southeast sector. 29

Tribal Leaders

The eight tribal leaders possess power far above ordinary Snake-People; some are stronger than Hua She Er. Their authority is nevertheless subordinate to the Four Great Elders in major tribal matters. 34 36

Sacred Items and Practices

• Ten Thousand Snake Cauldron — a sacred bronze cauldron passed down through the tribe. Said to be made from ancient Magical Beast bones and inscribed using the blood essence of ten thousand snakes, it is now used to refine precious medicines. 36
• Eight Mysterious Heavenly Snake Paste — inherited medicine refined from materials supplied by all eight major tribes. 34 37
• Nine Mysterious Heavenly Snake Paste — the enhanced result created after the Great Elder added a drop of Seven-Colored Scales and Devouring Sky Head blood essence to the original formula; it was used to upgrade Mo Yun’s Azure Snake Three-Blossom Pupil. 37 38
