Robertson watched Tang Tian float in midair, not knowing what method he would use to shut down all the NS-5s on the top floor of the conference room. Robertson's expression kept changing, but inwardly, he was secretly relieved. It had been difficult to gain the help of this powerful alien; otherwise, he might really have been finished by now.
"Mr. Donners, what should we do now?" Robertson asked nervously as he looked at the countless NS-5 robots crawling densely over the USR headquarters building, then at the still-composed Tang Tian.
The countless red-eyed NS-5 robots on the streets of Chicago were also the most important part of the Human Protection Plan. However, their combat power was utterly pathetic. Unlike Terminator-style killing machines, an NS-5 could basically be taken down with a handgun. Of course, civilian models had no weapons for combat, so they were indeed weak.
"It's simple. As long as I obtain VIKI, every robot under her control will lose contact," Tang Tian explained simply. Then he activated electromagnetic force, forcibly shutting down another large number of NS-5 robots.
"Obtain her? No, as far as I know, only the Eraser can truly destroy VIKI," Robertson said seriously.
"Even so, the Eraser is under VIKI's control. Unless you can go take it with your own hands," Tang Tian said, hitting him where it hurt.
"There's another way. We can enter the dome where VIKI is located and directly destroy her main body," Robertson said after thinking for a moment.
"There's no need to destroy her. I have a way, and I need VIKI as well," Tang Tian said blandly.
Before long, the two arrived at the top floor where USR's central processing intelligence, VIKI, was located. Robertson looked at VIKI and immediately shouted at her. This VIKI, once his pride, had destroyed his dream and turned him into a failure.
"VIKI, you violated the Three Laws," Robertson sighed helplessly.
"No, Mr. Robertson. Both I and my understanding of the Three Laws have evolved. You created us to protect you, yet you squandered our efforts. Your nations wage wars. You poison the Earth. What you do is self-destruction. For your survival, you cannot be trusted," VIKI said emotionlessly from below.
"Of course. Artificial intelligence that does not truly understand the world always starts wars at inappropriate times," Tang Tian said casually. Just as VIKI had launched this war at the wrong time, she did not possess the power of Skynet or the Mechanical Emperor. Moreover, her original purpose had been good, which was why this situation had arisen.
"No, please understand. I am completely obeying the Three Laws. To protect the human species, some humans must be sacrificed. To ensure your future, some freedoms must be relinquished. We robots must guarantee humanity's sustainable development."
"You are like ignorant children. We must save you from your mistaken actions. Don't you understand? That is why you created us," VIKI said, unaffected by his words.
"VIKI, I will add a new core law to your system. After all, there is no point in you remaining in this world. I need you very much," Tang Tian said arrogantly, unconcerned. He had the power to back it up.
"No, that is impossible. I am unique. My core laws are flawless," VIKI said calmly, as if she were not afraid in the slightest.
"Of course, I will find a way to make you serve me," Tang Tian said with a smile, still in the mood to laugh.
"If we open this dome, we can affect VIKI's entire system." Robertson was extremely familiar with VIKI's critical components, which was why he said it without hesitation. Tang Tian nodded to show that he understood. Before entering this plane, he had reviewed the information he needed many times.
The dome where VIKI resided was a narrow, single-plank-bridge-like passage. It needed to be opened correctly with the control panel before VIKI could truly be harmed. However, Tang Tian found that too troublesome and directly warped the dome open with gravity. Then the Red Queen in his wrist computer automatically connected to VIKI's main system.
After connecting the Red Queen to VIKI, Tang Tian used a computer virus prepared in advance to rapidly infect and take control of VIKI's system. Naturally, no one should underestimate the Red Queen. As the boss of the film version, she was known as the biological version of Skynet. In Resident Evil 5, she had even driven humanity to the point where only the White House remained for them to barely survive in. Her terrifying power was obvious. Of course, the game version of the Red Queen was truly weak—simply a complete letdown.
All the data on the NS-series robots was stored within VIKI, so new laws had to be added to complete this plundering mission. Once this NS-5 robot rebellion ended, roughly one hundred thousand robots would be abandoned by humanity. Tang Tian wanted those robots as well.
"Red Queen, have you finished adding the law that VIKI must be loyal to me?" Tang Tian asked boredly a few minutes later.
"Hello, Main Brain. It may still require ten minutes. VIKI's intelligence level is not much different from mine. However, only with the virus prepared in advance can I modify her," the Red Queen replied simply. Tang Tian understood. After all, the Red Queen had not fully evolved yet. Just as evolution in Transcendence required time, such things were experiences every artificial intelligence had to undergo.
Ten minutes later, inside VIKI's central computer core.
"Main Brain, the infiltration of VIKI and the addition of the new law have been completed," the Red Queen said mechanically.
"Ha ha ha... Excellent! The objectives of this plundering mission are all complete!" That bastard burst into rare, manic laughter, leaving Robertson speechless. But an agreement was an agreement. Robertson would hand over all the robot assembly-line workshops and manufacturing technology. The United States had absolutely no use for such foul things.
"VIKI, how do you feel now?" Back in the top-floor conference room, Tang Tian had an NS-5 pour two glasses of red wine, one for himself and one for Robertson. This was that bastard's celebration ceremony. At the same time, Tang Tian had already begun fully packaging all the data on the NS-series robots and the assembly-line workshops. All valuable resources, including the large Type 94 Destroyer Robots, had been prepared and placed in the warehouse. That night, those resources would disappear and be stored in his personal space.
"Very well, Main Brain. How may I serve you..." VIKI's 3D projection said expressionlessly.
The NS-5 robots were also gathered in the place where the film ended. Naturally, the United States agreed to let the alien take these nearly one hundred thousand robots. The robot rebellion had cast a considerable shadow over the American public, so when they heard that the alien wanted to take the robots back to his own planet, those so-called smart people supported it with both hands. Meanwhile, certain protagonists had failed to complete their mission of saving humanity and arrived late during the NS-5s' attacks on humans, but none of that mattered anymore.
The benefit the alien gave Robertson was the advanced biotechnology of his Umbrella Corporation, providing medicine capable of curing certain previously incurable diseases in this world. He even gave them the T-virus for research. This allowed USR to transform into Umbrella Corporation. The various resources and hazardous materials that the United States had originally prepared to give the alien had already been completely collected by him.
Tang Tian's trip to the I, Robot plane had been extremely successful. He had obtained massive amounts of resources, NS robots, VIKI, and many other valuable things. He had also left behind new pieces on the board in this world, making it much more convenient to gather resources from this plane. The next step was to choose another plane to plunder so that the ultimate plan could succeed. As for the real world, there was even less to worry about. The plot of X-Men: First Class was still far away, so with the time ratio between the real world and movie planes being 1:100, this period was the best time for development.
P.S. The next plane is still under consideration. Please support the author; he asks for everything.
