"Is... is this Divine Examination a little... too improper?"
Zhu Zhuqing's cheeks burned. Her voice was barely a whisper, and she hardly dared look up at Lin Ye.
In all her years, she had never heard of such an outrageous trial for becoming a god.
What did "the perfect, harmonious union of soul and body, free of all impurities" even mean?
Dressed up in such refined language, wasn't it just... that kind of thing?!
And it even demanded that "love and vitality reach their peak"...
How was she supposed to look at the word "god" the same way again?
"Ahem."
Lin Ye looked awkward too. He cleared his throat twice and forced out an explanation:
"That's where you're mistaken. It shows that gods understand the harmony of yin and yang, and the great harmony of life."
"The trial might sound a little... well, down-to-earth. But what it's really testing is the bond between us as husband and wife, and the depth of our feelings!"
Lin Ye spouted nonsense with a perfectly straight face:
"Think about it. A union of both soul and body—what kind of realm would it take to achieve that? It means we have to fit together perfectly not just physically, but spiritually too!"
"What it tests is the Dao! Love! The ultimate mystery of the universe!"
Zhu Zhuqing listened, stunned.
She still felt as though something was off, but when Lin Ye put it that way, it almost... almost made sense.
"Really?" She looked at Lin Ye doubtfully.
"Of course!" Lin Ye patted his chest and swore,
"When have I ever lied to you?"
Seeing the sincerity in his eyes, Zhu Zhuqing finally felt some of her embarrassment fade.
That was true. How could a god's trial be so shallow?
She must have gotten the wrong idea.
