Cheng Guo said, "Once technology reaches a certain height and begins systematically explaining the fundamental truths of the universe, cultivators living in such an environment will be subtly influenced by it. They will begin viewing things through the rational lens of science.
"Then it becomes difficult to find that unknowable spark of spiritual inspiration, to receive that flash of insight, and thereby discover the threshold of the Celestial Immortal."
At this point, Cheng Guo stretched slightly and lay back into the soft sofa, letting it comfortably envelop her. With a relaxed expression, she said, "It's been a long time since I've relaxed like this."
Seeing Lu Ren deep in thought, Cheng Guo smiled. "After all, what we cultivate is the heart. If the heart is limitless, then our progress is limitless. But technology always requires objective proof and rational perspectives to observe everything, using known knowledge to contend against one's own power. We cultivators, on the other hand, need some measure of the unknown in order to unleash Infinite Possibilities."
Lu Ren was intensely interested. He sat with Cheng Guo and discussed the Dao for an entire day and night, yet he was still unsatisfied. As expected, none of the Celestial Immortals who had stepped onto the Path to Ascension were frauds. Even the smallest thing they shared was packed with substance.
His own accumulation was still far too shallow. These people had cultivated for tens or even hundreds of thousands of years. How many things had they experienced in that time? It was simply impossible to describe them all clearly.
Everyone who reached the Celestial Immortal realm was a living legend.
Their experiences, the hardships they encountered, and the fortuitous encounters they received were exactly the sort of treatment only a protagonist in a book could have.
