Background and History

Wang Dong'er was Huo Yuhao's longtime companion from the period when she lived as Wang Dong. By the time Wang Qiu'er arrives at Shrek, Dong'er and Huo Yuhao already share years of cultivation, combat, and dormitory life. Qiu'er's identical appearance immediately unsettles Dong'er, who openly protects Huo Yuhao and declares that he is not someone Qiu'er may touch at will. 1 41

Her rivalry with Qiu'er becomes inseparable from a deeper mystery. When Dong'er, Qiu'er, and Huo Yuhao stand together, the auras of Dong'er's Goddess of Light Butterfly, Qiu'er's Golden Dragon power, and Huo Yuhao's Spirit Eyes resonate. The incident draws the attention of evil soul masters and establishes that the three are linked by more than romantic conflict. 3 7

Dong'er initially treats Qiu'er as a threatening rival, resenting how naturally Qiu'er can coordinate with Huo Yuhao in battle. Nevertheless, she repeatedly fights beside both of them against Soul Beast attacks, the Holy Spirit Cult, and battle-formation tests. Her ability to follow Huo Yuhao's commands under pressure helps turn the trio into an effective combat unit. 4 11 12

During the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament, Dong'er serves on Shrek's lineup and proves pivotal to its victories. She combines aerial light-wing assaults with Huo Yuhao's battlefield control, and she protects him even after being injured by an enemy interference trap. 18 24 31

After Huo Yuhao and Qiu'er cross a romantic boundary following Qiu'er's rescue of him, Dong'er realizes the betrayal and returns alone to the Clear Sky Sect despite her injuries. Huo Yuhao later comes to apologize and endures Er Ming's test to prove his sincerity, moving Dong'er to return to Shrek with him. 25 26 28

At the Clear Sky Sect, Tang San explains that Dong'er is originally Tang Wutong. A thread of Wutong's divine consciousness was attached to the Three-Eyed Golden Lion during its Fate Guidance with Huo Yuhao; this connection contributed to Qiu'er's human transformation and shared appearance. Dong'er cannot fully awaken or return to the Divine Realm until that consciousness is restored. 27

Appearance

Dong'er is a slender young woman with blue-and-pink hair, often associated with a hair ribbon. Her face is nearly identical to Wang Qiu'er's, a resemblance that causes immediate confusion when Qiu'er first appears at Shrek. 1 3

  • Usually wears blue clothing, including a blue outer robe. 1
  • Her Goddess of Light Butterfly manifests as blue-gold light wings. 24 31
  • Dragon-scale-like patterns briefly appear around her butterfly wings when the old altar reacts to her hidden divine consciousness. 38 41
  • Her presence and soul power are described as bright, lively, and radiant. 7

Personality

Dong'er is proud, emotionally direct, and fiercely protective of the people she loves. She does not hide her discomfort when Qiu'er approaches Huo Yuhao, but her jealousy is rooted in fear of being replaced rather than simple hostility. She repeatedly demands honesty from Huo Yuhao instead of accepting reassurance she believes is incomplete. 3 19 35

Despite her possessiveness, Dong'er consistently places allies and missions before personal hurt. She assists in formations, protects Qiu'er when danger demands it, and prioritizes stopping enemy surveillance even when she witnesses painful moments between Huo Yuhao and Qiu'er. 12 15 45

Her later encounters with the Return-Flow Core force her to confront a greater fear: that her name, choices, and identity might be overwritten by fate. This leads her to recognize common ground with Qiu'er. Rather than treating their conflict as a contest for Huo Yuhao, she begins resisting the forces attempting to decide what either of them should become. 42 43

Abilities & Skills

Goddess of Light Butterfly

Dong'er's primary martial soul manifests through radiant butterfly wings and blue-gold light attacks.

  • Uses her wings for rapid aerial movement and close-range cutting attacks. 9 24
  • Can precisely sever soul-tool linkages and formation patterns rather than merely attacking opponents directly. 31 50
  • Her light aura can coordinate with Huo Yuhao's Spirit Eyes and Qiu'er's Golden Dragon power, though the resonance can also provoke dangerous destiny-related reactions. 3 7
  • The altar recognizes her light power and attempts to draw out the higher divine consciousness within her. 38

Light-Power Purification and Healing

Dong'er's light soul power is effective against residual corruption and spiritual strain.

  • Purifies residual evil markings while Huo Yuhao constructs battle formations. 12
  • Helps heal and stabilize Huo Yuhao's overstrained spiritual sea after he overuses his Spirit Eyes. 33
  • Combines her light with other allies' powers to suppress blood-fiend energy and hostile formations. 16 41

Combat Coordination

Dong'er is an adaptable team fighter rather than solely an independent duelist.

  • Fights Qiu'er evenly enough for their martial-soul clash to crack the training-ground floor. 9
  • Adjusts her instincts to follow Huo Yuhao's tactical calls, enabling coordinated attacks with Qiu'er's Golden Dragon Spear. 12
  • Serves as one of Shrek's key assault options during the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament. 18 24
  • Coordinates remotely with Huo Yuhao during the Sun Moon Camp operation, disabling the precise outer-formation node he identifies. 50

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Clear Sky Hammer — used to deflect a Scorpion-Tiger Blood Nail aimed at Huo Yuhao during the tournament ambush. 24
  • Destiny Record array fragment — a fragment repaired with Huo Yuhao that Dong'er keeps with her while at the Clear Sky Sect. 27
  • Communication soul tool — left behind when she departs Shrek, though Huo Yuhao later uses it as a clue to pursue her. 28

Relationships

  • Huo Yuhao — Longtime companion and romantic partner. Dong'er loves him deeply but repeatedly struggles with his feelings for Qiu'er and other women; she leaves him after his betrayal, later forgives him, and continues to demand honesty and commitment. 19 26 28 35 41
  • Wang Qiu'er — Identical-looking rival whose closeness to Huo Yuhao initially provokes hostility. Their shared connection to Tang Wutong's divine consciousness and the Return-Flow Core gradually turns their rivalry into mutual resistance against fate. 1 27 42 43
  • Da Ming — One of Dong'er's uncles at the Clear Sky Sect. He recognizes her distress and supports her right to decide how to handle Huo Yuhao. 27 28
  • Er Ming — Dong'er's protective uncle. He wants to punish Huo Yuhao for hurting her and tests Huo Yuhao's resolve before accepting Dong'er's reconciliation. 27 28
  • Tang San — Reveals that Dong'er is Tang Wutong and explains why her mortal experiences, including her love and pain, cannot yet be erased or bypassed. 27
  • Xuan Lao — Academy elder who oversees the resonance experiments involving Dong'er, Qiu'er, and Huo Yuhao, and later supports Dong'er's decision to return to the Clear Sky Sect. 7 26
  • Orange — A source of jealousy and distrust for Dong'er because of Orange's history with Huo Yuhao and her usefulness to his investigations. Dong'er nevertheless prioritizes Orange's intelligence when it benefits the team. 30 40 46
