Background

Zhu Lu was born a concubine's daughter of the Zhu Family. With no control over her own future, she was brought to the White Tiger Duke's Estate to meet her arranged fiancé, Dai Huabin. After her mother's death, she had no friends and sought companionship outside her isolated life in the Zhu Family 7.

She first encountered Huo Yuhao while secretly watching his sword practice. Though frightened after being discovered, she returned the following day because she wanted to befriend him and recognized that both of them lived under hostile family circumstances 7. Wei Qing taught her the Nine Turns to Unity Technique, and her cultivation partnership with Huo Yuhao developed into a close friendship 8.

When the Zhu Family attempted to reclaim her, Zhu Lu chose to remain at the Duke's Estate. Her attempted Martial Soul fusion with Dai Huabin failed, proving they were not suitable Martial Soul Partners; she was then allowed to stay 9. Immediately afterward, she and Huo Yuhao discovered their own Martial Soul Fusion Skill, Gaze of the Abyss 10.

After Huo Yuhao departed the estate without telling her, Zhu Lu later enrolled in his Shrek class and confronted him over the abandonment. They reconciled after he promised that they would face their troubles together, and Zhu Lu openly declared herself his girlfriend 32.

Zhu Lu continued to develop alongside Huo Yuhao through Shrek's assessments, the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament, and their later travels. She repeatedly refused to remain behind, insisting that she would stand at his side rather than rely on his protection 69 103 146.

Following her connection with the Earthly Dao, Zhu Lu entered an underworld-like plane and aided an elderly woman who revealed herself as Houtu. Houtu rewarded her kindness with insight into the Reincarnation Law 159. Zhu Lu subsequently awakened the Six Paths Reincarnation Disc and chose a path directed against the gods 161.

Zhu Lu has long black hair and wears dark-purple clothing. When she activates her Netherworld Spirit Cat Martial Soul, cat ears emerge atop her head, a cat tail appears behind her, and sharp claws extend from her fingers 8 30.

Personality

Initially shy and awkward around Huo Yuhao, Zhu Lu was nevertheless persistent in seeking friendship. Her loneliness and lack of freedom made her especially sympathetic to Huo Yuhao's guarded life at the Duke's Estate 7.

She is affectionate, teasing, and fiercely protective of Huo Yuhao. Although she understands his desire to bear his burdens alone, she rejects being excluded from his struggles and demands that they confront their problems together 32 44.

Zhu Lu is also intensely determined in cultivation and combat. Her pursuit of strength comes from a desire to fight beside Huo Yuhao as an equal, not from behind him 103 146. Her aid to Houtu demonstrates compassion even while she pursues the dangerous Reincarnation Law 159.
