As if the sunlight had merely been blocked, a weightless shadow fell onto the Basilisk's tough body—a body that, with a full belly, could trade blows with Taro. With a thud, it made the closest possible zero-distance contact with the floor of Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets.

As the floor shattered, thin streams of blood slowly seeped from between the Basilisk's scales. Then came a series of teeth-grating cracks. Some of its hard, pale bones could no longer withstand the pressure; they shattered and burst through its flesh in every direction, a horrifying sight.
