That was right. Sengoku's target was none other than Edward Weevil and Miss Bakkin.
To him, Sengoku had practically delivered a grand gift right to his doorstep!
"Captain..."
Just then, a man with an exceptionally sleazy-looking face hurried over. "Captain!"
"Uh?"
Perona, Brook, and Ata's expressions changed in unison before they all turned to look at Moke, as if asking: Our Pirate Crew has someone this sleazy?
Forget them—even the corners of Moke's mouth twitched.
That face was on par with Kizaru's.
However, he knew who the newcomer was and went straight to the point. "Mr. 2, where are Edward Weevil and Miss Bakkin?"
Mr. 2 replied, "Captain, they're staying at an inn on this island!"
Moke asked, "Did you find out why they've been staying on this island for over half a month?"
Mr. 2 nodded. "That Miss Bakkin seems to be searching for a treasure on this island."
"A treasure?"
Moke was rather surprised.
After all, he had risen in this world because of a treasure. Could he really strike it rich with another one here?
He could not help smiling. "Did you find out what treasure it is?"
Mr. 2 said, "It seems to have been left behind by a captain named John."
"John?"
Moke turned to Ata and Brook. If he remembered correctly, that Captain John had been turned into a zombie general by Gecko Moria.
Then these two had taken him down.
The man's two swords had become collectibles of the Pirate Crew. They were still displayed on a sword rack in the collection room aboard the pirate ship.
Ata also realized it at that moment.
She turned and returned to the pirate ship, bringing back the two swords. Moke took them and examined them carefully... He discovered that the cloth wrapped around the hilts seemed to have been replaced.
It was not the original cloth, because faint traces of something older remained underneath.
"Interesting..."
Moke tore off all the cloth from the hilts of both swords. Then he discovered that there was a groove in the middle of each hilt, about half the width of a little fingernail.
A piece of paper was hidden in each groove.
Moke immediately took them out. One recorded the events of Captain John's life, while the other recorded the location of the treasure he had hidden before his death.
Ata, Perona, Brook, and Mr. 2 all curiously gathered around.
Ata then asked in confusion, "Captain, since both pieces of paper are here, how did Miss Bakkin and the others know about it?"
Moke thought for a moment after hearing that. "Miss Bakkin and Captain John were originally in the same Pirate Crew. Perhaps they had some sort of connection. Or perhaps Miss Bakkin obtained other information somewhere."
Moke was also looking forward to it. Captain John's treasure was the very treasure Buggy the Clown had sought in the original story. It was bound to yield quite a haul.
Moke then handed the two swords to Mr. 2. "Use these two swords and find a way to lure Miss Bakkin out."
He did not want a major battle to break out in a crowded place. Too many innocent people would be caught up in it!
Mr. 2 replied, "Yes, Captain..."
Time passed bit by bit, and the sun had already reached its highest point in the sky.
At last, they saw an unusually tall man walking toward them from afar. As he drew closer, a tiny figure also entered everyone's view.
The giant had the same crescent-shaped, upward-curving white mustache as Whitebeard. He was huge and fat, ugly-faced, with a constantly runny nose and thick lips.
The short one was an old woman with heavy red lipstick, sunglasses, a cane, a face full of wrinkles, and a leopard-print coat.
The pair was far too distinctive. Moke recognized them at a glance.
The newcomers were Edward Weevil and Miss Bakkin, while Mr. 2 was currently dangling from Edward Weevil's hand.
Miss Bakkin also got a clear look at Moke's group. Her gaze settled on Moke, and a trace of gravity appeared on her face.
She looked at Mr. 2. "Those two swords of yours, did you steal them from their ship?"
Mr. 2 nodded repeatedly. "Yes, yes, yes... I snuck aboard while they were on the island buying supplies and there was only one person left on the ship."
After hearing that, Miss Bakkin turned back to Moke. Her gaze sharpened, and she barked, "Hand over Captain John's—"
Before she could finish, Mr. 2 made his move. Taking advantage of Weevil's inattention, he immediately activated his ability. Wax-Wax surged from his hands and bound Weevil.
Then he sprinted toward Moke.
Miss Bakkin froze for a moment before flying into a rage.
She was no fool. How could she not understand that they had been set up? "Weevil, this man deceived us. Kill him for Mama."
Weevil, who had been restrained, had yet to recover from the sudden turn of events. He wore a blank, confused expression.
The moment he heard Miss Bakkin's words, his entire aura changed.
His immense strength shattered the Wax-Wax binding him. Then he slashed at the fleeing Mr. 2, sending out an extraordinarily terrifying flying slash.
Its target was Mr. 2.
The earth split apart wherever the slash passed, showing just how terrifying its power was.
Shusui instantly left Moke's sheath as he swung it forward. An equally terrifying flying slash met the attack head-on!
He successfully blocked the fatal blow for Mr. 2.
"Gasp..."
Having escaped death, Mr. 2 could not help drawing in a sharp breath. A chill surged from the soles of his feet straight to his scalp.
Now he finally understood why Mr. 0 had repeatedly warned him not to face this enemy head-on.
This was simply not power someone at his level could withstand.
Miss Bakkin's pupils contracted sharply. She had no choice but to take Moke seriously now, because the strength he had displayed was no weaker than Weevil's.
And Weevil was her greatest support.
Moke could not help breaking into a broad smile. "I came to recognize family..."
"Huh?"
Miss Bakkin looked utterly baffled.
However, her expression changed again at once, because thick mist poured from Moke's body and enveloped the entire area.
Neither she nor Weevil could see anything.
Weevil immediately began shouting, "Mama... Mama, I can't see anything anymore."
"Oh no..."
Miss Bakkin truly deserved her age and experience. She reacted at once. "Weevil, retreat—"
Before she could finish, a chill had already reached her neck. She understood that someone had placed a blade against her throat.
"Gulp..."
Miss Bakkin swallowed. She did not even know how the other party had gotten so close.
"Bang..."
The newcomer was naturally Moke.
"Mama..."
At that moment, Weevil's Observation Haki caught something unusual, and he immediately went berserk.
