The overwrite grid's advance slowed noticeably, and in some areas, the grid itself was even being assimilated or modified-some pale golden lines gradually took on the Dreamweavers' distinctive dreamlike colors, weakening their coercive force.
"Overwrite process obstructed! The target civilization's definition field shows significantly increased resistance!" an Order's Dawn coordinator reported. "Prototype demonstrates strong adaptability and countermeasure potential against the 'definition overwrite' attack pattern!"
Lin Ye did not relax. Through Prototype, he sensed that the pale golden grid's "source" seemed to have detected the resistance. It was adjusting its output frequency and overwrite templates, trying to bypass the interference.

Meanwhile, the reconnaissance team led by Radiant Stilllight slipped into the Withering Corridor undetected, following the complex route plotted by the Order's Dawn coordinator and the directions provided by the Many-Faced Illusion Clan.
The spacetime backdrop here resembled shattered glass. Stellar corpses emitted chaotic energy and radiation that severely disrupted conventional detection. With the help of the Many-Faced Illusion Clan's mirror unit, however, they pinpointed the source of the faint but persistent overwrite signal.
It was neither the enormous weapons platform nor the mysterious structure they had expected.
The signal originated from a seemingly empty stretch of space, but the spacetime structure there bore extremely subtle, unnatural traces of "smoothing," as though some force had painstakingly "ironed" it flat.
"Anomalous spatial folds detected! High-intensity information encapsulation detected inside!" a reconnaissance team member reported.
"It's a hidden transmission node, or a relay station," Radiant Stilllight concluded. "Attempt noncontact information sniffing and collect the signal signatures. Many-Faced Illusion Clan, can you sense the nature of the 'definitions' inside the node?"
